A 14-year-old boy from the USA was described as a hero yesterday after he saved the life of a woman in another country.

    Dean Bluey from Dallas, Texas, was a school boy who has much1in computer. One day, he2an email to a friend on the Internet. Suddenly he received a message saying "Help! Pain! Help!" The message was from Finland, 3kilometres away from America.

    "I didn't know 4 I should do, "Dean said to a reporter afterwards. "It was really difficult to tell if the message was real. "So Dean did nothing at first. 5the message kept coming.

    "By then it was easy to see that someone was in trouble, "Dean explained. He 6and discovered that the sender was a student called Tarja, who was alone in a university library. She was ill. What was7, there was no phone around her. Her only way of communicating with the world was by email. Dean got in touch 8the police immediately. And they realized that the situation was quite serious. They called the police in Finland. Then an ambulance rushed to the library. 9," she was still alive and was sent to the hospital quickly.

On the evening of July 31, 2024, a great moment happened at the swimming event of the Paris Olympics. Pan Zhanle, a Chinese swimmer, won the gold medal in the men's 100- meter freestyle(自由式).

Before the competition, the Chinese team faced a lot of 1 . The past results were not very good and many people didn't 2 they could win. But Pan Zhanle was 3 and ready to fight.

When the race started, Pan Zhanle jumped into the water 4 . In the first 50 meters, he showed 5 power and took the lead. His strokes(划水动作) were powerful and his breathing was regular.

In the second half of the race, it became very6 . Other swimmers tried hard to catch up, but Pan Zhanle 7 his lead with great skills and strong will.

More than ten years ago, I finished my studies in college. I dreamed of having a job in publishing(出版业). I went for {#blank#}1{#/blank#} interview in a publishing company. I thought it would be a{#blank#}2{#/blank#} (successful). However, I failed.

During those years, I've been thinking about a question: {#blank#}9{#/blank#} did I get the job at last? When I didn't pass the interview, I was upset, and never thought I could return to the company five years later. However, I just never wanted to give up, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} I kept working towards my dream. All my hard work was meaningful, wasn't it?
