As a Japanese girl called Jenny, I experienced a terrible earthquake in March, 2011. I 1 my dear father in the earthquake and my mother was ill for a long time. I lost my school and some of my classmates and teachers. I never forget that 2  time in my life.

    In October, 2011, I moved to a new school 3 Red Sun Middle School. At first I didn't want to study at all and only 4 my old classmates very much. Later, the head teacher had a long talk with my mother and he hoped I would study hard. The teachers were very 5 to me and my new classmates helped me a lot. Then I felt the warmth(温暖) in the new class. And I got good  6 in the final exam.

    On the morning of May 7th, 2012, when I came into the 7, a big birthday cake on the teacher's desk came into my eyes 8  there were four big words "Happy birthday to you!" on the blackboard. Oh, it was my thirteenth birthday. My dear head teacher 9 up to me, saying, "Happy birthday to you, Jenny. And be a happy girl. " Then my classmates surrounded(围住) me with so many colorful flowers and gifts. I couldn't say 10, and the eyes were full of moving tears. I had a great time that day. I was sure it was my happiest birthday in my life and I would never forget it.

    All passengers must arrive at the airport two hours before the departure time. You have much time to check everything. If you have never been to another country, don't forget to take your passports, air tickets and your suitcases with you.

    Have you got your boarding card(登机牌) yet? You must get it as soon as you arrive at the airport. Have you checked your suitcases and put name tags on them?

    In my life, the person who has influenced me most is my father. He is a role model for me. Now I'll tell you something about him. My father is in his{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(fifty). Whenever he has some money left, he {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(give) it to someone in need.

    My father has donated blood many times since we{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(move) here. The blood he has donated is much enough{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(save) over 70 lives. He has donated blood cells to people with blood cancer. To my surprise, he has decided to donate his body for medical research after his{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(die).

    When I was a little girl, I could not understand why my father always seemed to be{#blank#}11{#/blank#}(kind) to others than to his own families and why he thinks of others more than{#blank#}12{#/blank#}(he). Now I realise that he owns a heart full of love.

Monday, July 1^st. 

I arrived in Penang in Malaysia this morning with my family. It was sunny and hot, so we decided {#blank#}1{#/blank#}（go）to the beach near our hotel. My sister and I tried paragliding. I felt like I was a bird. It was so {#blank#}2{#/blank#}（excite）! For lunch, we had something very special—Malaysian yellow noodles. They were delicious! In the afternoon, we {#blank#}3{#/blank#}（ride）bicycles to Georgetown. There are a lot of new {#blank#}4{#/blank#}（build）now, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} many of the old buildings are still there. In Weld Quay, a really old place in Georgetown, we saw the houses of the Chinese traders from 100 years ago. I wonder what life was tike here{#blank#}6{#/blank#} the past. I really enjoyed {#blank#}7{#/blank#}（walk）around the town. 

There were many famous inventors and scientists in history. You must have heard about a lot of them and known them well. But you may not know Nikola Tesla. 

Nikola Tesla and his inventions were well- known to people in the area of science and electricity, but not quite known to the general public today. Nikola Tesla was a Serbian- born inventor, who later moved to the US. He was most well- known for his inventions in the area of electricity and electrical engineering. He was considered one of the greatest electrical engineers in history. 

Why was Nikola Tesla not well- known while others in his time became so famous to the public? Some said Nikola Tesla failed to make the right business decisions. Others said it was because of his "mad scientist" qualities (特质) — the same qualities that helped him come up with some of his best ideas. His qualities led him to many strange ideas. Towards his last years, he came up with many ideas that seemed unacceptable to the public at that time. He worked very hard on them, which made people think he was mad. 

Many of Tesla's inventions and patents (专利) didn't end up being used in the exact way he had planned for them. Some of those include his high- frequency lighting ideas, wireless power and the free energy receiver.
