As is known to all, we live in a world of germs（细菌）. It is impossible to avoid exposure. Genetic makeups may give some people {#blank#}1{#/blank#} advantage over others. However, it does not stop people from becoming sick.

    All of us have been a victim of an {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (ill) at some point in our lives. Moreover, it is likely that we {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (get) sick again in the future. Our best chances of avoiding sickness {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (be) by exercising and employing good {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (habit).

    While good hygiene and exercise serve as obvious advice to most people, eating {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (healthy) is not always obvious. If you cannot define “healthy”, then your immune system will be happy {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (tell) you. The immune system is the foundation of our health. It works for us every day to keep us well. Ask {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (you): “Are you making its job easier {#blank#}9{#/blank#} harder?”

    Like any system, the immune system is not different. It has a tolerance too. If you eat unhealthily, your immune system will make you aware of it.

    Take a step in the right direction {#blank#}10{#/blank#} including some healthy food in your diet.

    I gain a lot of rewarding experiences from some social activities. Our local Community Youth Club is a very popular organization with young people in my town. I have been a member for four years now and I've taken part in a lot of interesting projects,{#blank#}1{#/blank#}include fun activities such as holiday camps and discos. We have organized sports competitions and we have even made a video.

    But it isn't all just enjoyment, we have also started doing social work to help people in our neighborhood. We{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(organize) activities for small children during the holidays. We have also formed a special support group to help young people stop{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(smoke).

    We are particularly proud of the most recent group we have created. It organizes regular visits{#blank#}4{#/blank#}the local old people's home. My class spent an afternoon at a home and everyone found the visit very rewarding. The old people there were{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(talk) and they told us their personal stories{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(cheer) .

    During our visit, the home was filled with {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(laugh). But we realized that life wasn't always easy .Some of them were in poor health and were very

{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (happy).

    Many young people like me do not live with our grandparents and we have little contact with elderly people. As a result, many young people don't know{#blank#}9{#/blank#}

    they are like. After this visit, my friends and I decided that we should do{#blank#}10{#/blank#}to help improve the quality of their lives.

    My interest in Chinese food started years ago, when I was a young reporter for the Washington Post. Our office wasn't far from Chinatown,{#blank#}1{#/blank#}I found some very good Chinese restaurants.

    That was the first time that I{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(notice) the fresh taste of the meat and vegetables of Chinese food.

    When I learned more about the food, I began to understand why{#blank#}3{#/blank#}has this special feature.

    Many years ago, china had{#blank#}4{#/blank#}energy crisis because it lost much of its wood due to over population and poor management of its forests. This{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(lose) was very bad for the country, of course, but it turned out to be very good for the food. Wood became very expensive and hard to get, so the Chinese had to either find a substitute for their{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(value) wood, or learn how to use it better. There weren't any substitutes so people found ways to economize.

    In order to economize in cooking, they had to use very little wood. So they started cutting their meat and vegetables{#blank#}7{#/blank#}small pieces before they put them in the hot oil. That way, the food cooked{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(fast) and they saved more fuel. The food{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(prepare) in this way kept its fresh flavor and it's this flavor{#blank#}10{#/blank#}attracts people from other countries to the art of Chinese cooking.

    A few years ago, after a long morning of sightseeing in New York, my children and I took a rest on one of the park {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (bench) in Central Park.

    "Look!" my son said, {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(point) to a nearby rubbish bin. That's when we saw our first raccoon (浣熊). Quite at home in the big city, he paid us no attention, concentrating only on finding a {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (taste) lunch. He sorted through a few options before coming out with a wrapped sandwich {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (hold) between his paws.

    {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (surprise), rather than run away, he jumped down and walked casually to a spot on the path, not a metre from where we sat. The children were spellbound, the raccoon providing better{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(entertain) than any museum. He glanced at us, perhaps checking to see {#blank#}7{#/blank#}we were about to steal his lunch.

    {#blank#}8{#/blank#}delicate fingers, he peeled back the layers of plastic wrap until the half-eaten sandwich {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (uncover).

    Then he surprised us all. Instead of starting his food, he turned to a nearby pool of water and {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (dip) his paws in. With a casual air, he rubbed his paws together underwater for a moment, brushed his fur, then started gracefully picking at his meal.

    Everyone needs to know how to prevent a fire. It is also important to know what to do when it {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (break) out.

    Every year, over 11, 000 people {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (kill) or injured in house fires. These fires could have been avoided. Smokers who are {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (care) cause about 200 deaths and over 6, 000 fires. More than of those {#blank#}4{#/blank#} die in fires are poisoned or harmed by smoke.

    If fire happens, do not attempt to fight the fire unless it is small. Try putting out a small fire with water. If {#blank#}5{#/blank#} fire has spread or if the flames are more than 20 inches high, shut the door on it. Warn everyone else in the building and tell them to get out. You should leave and dial 911 for the fire department.

    Before {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (go) into a room, check the door. If the handle or the door is hot, do not open it! Instead, put clothing or a wet towel at the bottom of it to keep smoke out. If the door is not hot, open it {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (slow). If there is a rush of smoke heat, close it again and shout to warn {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (other) inside.

    Now open the window and shout "Fire!". See whether you can drop safely to the ground. Use this {#blank#}9{#/blank#} your escape course if you can. If you are not on ground level, break your fall by pushing a mat out first. Lower yourself at arm's {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (long) before dropping. Once outside, stay out outside and make sure the fire department is called.
