Martin is my youngest son. He likes staying alone and he seldom laughs. As the boy's mother, I was worried about him. I took him to see the doctors in many hospitals, but it didn't work well.

Nothing could make him happy except the recycling truck（垃圾回收车） passing by my house.Every afternoon, he ran to the front of the house, waiting for the truck.

When we were late and missed the truck, Martin would be very despondent. One day, I stopped the truck and introduced myself,

"Nice to meet you, too. I'm Vince."The driver greeted me in a happy voice. After knowing our story, he said, "Could you please give me your phone number? Maybe I can send you a message before I arrive."

Then began our friendship with Vince.

Recently, I said to him, "It's my little boy's birthday tomorrow.Can you do something special for him?"

The next day, as I was standing by the driveway with Martin,we saw the green truck running down the street with a loud beep（嘟啷声）.Like a superman in a movie, Vince stopped and walked towards us with a box in his hand.

"Today is your birthday, Martin,and here's a gift."

He handed the box to my son. Inside, there was a green model truck like his. My son, surprised,looked up happily and thanked him:

After chatting for several minutes, he was about to leave for work. I tried to give him some money for his help. He kept shaking his head and refused my money, saying "Today you, tomorrow me."

I was deeply moved by these simple words. And I have been ready to help other whenever I can. You will never know when you're going to be the one that needs help.

In the bright moonlight, Jack is walking home. Suddenly, he finds a hawk (鹰) lying beside a box. Very curious, he begins to check it.

The hawk seems to be in pain. One of its wings looks broken, touching the ground. Its eyes look scared. So Jack takes off his T-shirt and wraps (包裹) it carefully round the hawk. Then he carries it home.

"I can't take him into the house," he thinks. "My mum doesn't like animals in the house!"

Thinking for a while, Jack decides to hide the hawk in the garden shed (棚子). He secretly puts the hawk down on the floor with his T-shirt. Looking at the hawk, he says, "It's your home now. Call you Falco, OK?"

After that, he goes back to his room. Unluckily, his parents are waiting for him. Finding his T-shirt missing, they get quite angry and don't allow him to go out within a week. Jack goes to his room without any words, but he can't fall asleep because he is worrying about Falco.

In the early morning, Jack takes some bread to feed Falco and goes back to his room secretly. After breakfast, Jack goes to the garden shed, holding a small bowl of water.

In the shed, he finds Falco sitting quietly in a corner, the bread still on the floor. Falco's eyes are open, but not bright now. Jack puts the water in front of Falco. At first, Falco ignores (忽视) it, then he begins to drink. Jack sits quietly, looking at him, imagining Falco flying in the endless blue sky. But now he is trapped on the earth. "How can I help you return to the sky, Falco?"

When Jack leaves the shed, his brother Jim is waiting for him outside.

"What's so interesting in the shed?"

"Nothing."

"Tell me the truth, Jack. I think you haven't forgotten my broken rocket!"

Finally, Jack has no choice but to tell his brother the truth. Jim becomes very excited.

"Jim, please don't say anything to Mum and Dad. I can repair your rocket."

"My rocket isn't important, Jack. But Falco is!"

Then the brothers discuss how to feed Falco. They decide to get help from their friend Holly because she knows a lot about animals, birds and nature. Later, the brothers go to Holly. Holly advises them to feed some meat to Falco.

Over the next few days, Falco gets much better. He always eats the meat Jack and Jim bring him from the kitchen. Jack even digs up worms in the park for Falco. Falco loves them! His feathers look bright and shiny, too. But he still can't fly.

One morning, Holly comes to see Falco. After watching it for a while, Holly says, "Falco is well enough to fly again!" Hearing this, they happily open the door, and watch Falco step into the sunlight slowly. Falco beats his wings and tries to fly in small circles, then in large ones. Suddenly, he makes a loud cry and flies away. Jack feels a bit sad, but he knows they are right.

One evening, Jack and Jim are sitting in their room. It is a cool and quiet evening. Suddenly, he hears a cry from far away. A familiar (熟悉的) cry. A bird is flying in circles across the sky. It's Falco! Jack watches it fly, happy and wild.

Once upon a time, there were two high mountains, Taihang Mountain and Wangwu Mountain.Because the two mountains blocked (阻碍) the way, the villagers had to walk a long way around the mountain s whenever they had something to do on the other s{#blank#}1{#/blank#} of the mountains.

Just to the n{#blank#}2{#/blank#} part of the mountains lived an old man called Yu Gong. He has lived theres{#blank#}3{#/blank#} he was a little child. One day, he called all his family together and said:"The two mountains are too much in the way. Let's move them away."Everyone agreed to have a try, e{#blank#}4{#/blank#} his wife. She said:"Are you crazy? An old man like you cannot even move a small hill, not to mention the two high mountains. You should give up."

However, Yu Gong wouldn't accept his wife's a{#blank#}5{#/blank#} and started to lead his children to dig the mountains. A man named Zhi Sou laughed at them and said:"You are so silly!You're so old and weak. How can you move the high mountains?"

"How do you know it is i{#blank#}6{#/blank#}?"Yu Gong said."My sons can c{#blank#}7{#/blank#}my work after my death. When my sons die, my grandchildren will keep doing it. So generations after generations, there's no end. But the mountains can't grow higher. Do you still think I am u{#blank#}8{#/blank#} to move them away?"

Several days later, the Heaven God h{#blank#}9{#/blank#} of Yu Gong's story. It greatly t{#blank#}10{#/blank#} the Heaven God, so he asked another god to take the two high mountains away.

The story tells us that as long as one is determined (有决心的) and sticks (坚持) to it long enough, anything can be done, no matter how difficult it is.

It was a sunny summer day and I walked back home from school. When I stood (站在) in front of my 1 , I found I lost my key. It was very 2 for me, because I only had one key. And my parents were out for some days.

I walked around the neighborhood, wishing to find the lost key. But I didn't find it. I 3 my mom and she told me to go to my aunt's home. My aunt lived in another house of our neighborhood. I could 4 with her that day, but I still needed to get my key back.

 Born in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province, in1868, Cai Yuanpei had a thirst for knowledge from a young age. He {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (接受)a classical education and traveled to Beijing at age 25, where he placed 37th in the country in the imperial examinations and got the high level jinshi {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (学位) in 1892. Then he went to the Hanlin Academy. 

 By the turn of the {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (第二十) century, the Qing dynasty was in a mess. Cai was{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(不满意) with Qing rule. He decided to study German and dreamed of continuing his education in {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (欧洲). 

 In 1907, his dream of studying came true. He learned some good teaching {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (方法). In1911, Cai returned to China, look forward to taking part in the building of a new nation. 

 Cai returned to Peking university {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (后来) in 1919 as a headmaster. Cai {#blank#}8{#/blank#}33(传播) the values of free thinking in his class and was loved by his students. This great edu cator {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (死亡) in Hong Kong in 1940 at the age of 72. But his {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (承诺) to open discussion and effort in improve the level of education left a lasting mark on the period. He is thought as a hero to this day. 

Harbin is the capital of Heilongjiang, the most northern province in China. Over 2024 New Year holiday, China's Ice and Snow Festival was held in a park in Harbin. Some Chinese-style buildings, bridges and fairy-tale castles were built around the park. It a{#blank#}1{#/blank#} over five times more tourists than a year ago. Most of them came from the south of China. Some netizens provided h{#blank#}2{#/blank#} suggestions for these southerners. They helped them pay attention to the need for clothing that protects them from the freezing outdoor temperatures. Soon, the name of "Southern Little Potatoes" became popular and was w{#blank#}3{#/blank#} used on social media.

The ice and snow season in Harbin lasted for about 2 months. The hotel rooms booked out during February. Many "Southern Little Potatoes" s{#blank#}4{#/blank#} the Spring Festival with their families in Harbin this year. They went skiing and enjoyed wonderful ice views around the park.
