A farmer was working when he heard a loud sound. He left his work at once and ran towards it. When the farmer reached there, he found a little boy in a bog (沼泽) crying out of fear. The farmer tried hard and successfully got the child out. 

The next day, a well-dressed man came to the farmer's house. He told the farmer that he was the father of the boy saved by him yesterday. He wanted to give him a large amount of money in return, but the farmer refused to accept money for saving the child. At that moment, a little boy came to the door. The rich man asked, "Is this child your son?" The farmer proudly replied, "Yes, he is my son." Then, the rich man offered to help his child in his studies, saying, "I will provide him with the same education as I give my own son. If he is anything like his father, he will grow to be a noble man." The farmer agreed, and his son was educated in the best schools until he finished his studies at St. Mary's Hospital Medical School.

When I was a little boy, I lived next to David. He liked to plant trees in his large yard on weekends. But the way he planted trees was quite different. He never watered his new trees. I asked him why he did so, and he said that watering trees would spoil them. "If you water the trees, each baby tree will grow weaker and weaker." said David. He told me that watering these new trees would make roots (树根) shallow (浅), but deep roots were very important for trees. I didn't understand his words at that time.

Many kids help parents to do chores in the house.They may take out the trash，walk the dog or clean the floor.In return，some kids get money or other rewards from their parents，such as 20 minutes to play computer games.

Do you like writing by hand or with a keyboard?

A new brain research, led by researchers at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, shows that choosing handwriting over using a keyboard results in better learning and memory.

"When you write your shopping lists or notes by hand, you simply remember things better after some time."said Audrey van der Meer, author of the study.

The study was done using equipment(设备) to track(跟踪) and record brain wave activity. 12 young adults and 12 children took part in the study. Each person was asked to write by hand and type on a keyboard while wearing a special ca p with over 250 electrodes(电极). The sensors (传感器) in the electrodes picked up the electrical activity that took place in the brain. Each examination took 45 minutes per person.

The results show that the brain in both young adults and children is much more active when writing by hand than when typing on a keyboard. According to Van der Meer, plenty of senses become active by pressing a pen on paper, seeing the letters written and hearing the sound made while writing. These build connect ion between different parts of the brain, opening the brain up for learning.

Van der Meer believes that the results show the importance of children's learning to draw and write at an early age, especially at school."Learning to write by hand is a bit slower course, but it's important for children to experience the tiring step of learning to write by hand"she said,

The hand movements are good for us in many ways. "If you use a keyboard, you use the same movement for each letter. Writing by hand requires control of your fine motor(精细动作) skills and senses.It's important to put the brain in a learning state as often as possible."Van der Meer added."You might use a keyboard to write an article, but you should learn by hand during a class."

 Teens will finally grow up some day, leaving their parents and facing the challenges in life alone, so they should learn basic life skills and form good working habits.

 The government has been trying to pay attention to the importance of hardworking spirit education(劳动教育). But this has been overlooked in recent years. Many teens do not value(看重) the importance of working hard. There is a teenager girl named Nancy. She never helps out around the house. Once her mother was on vacation for a week, leaving her alone at home. When her mother came home from vacation, she could not find a clean di sh or a clean shirt.

This summer. I went for a budget trip(穷游). I visited Shandong with my father. What a special and surprising trip it was! My father and I only spent about 1,500 yuan on the trip. We tried some different ways to save money.

We didn't take planes because the air tickets were expensive. We didn't have enough money for air tickets. We decided to take trains. Hard seats were our first choice(选择). We chose the hard sleepers(卧铺) only when we were too tired. As for hotels, we chose to live in small and cheap hotels. We didn't want to spend money living in large and expensive hotels. We didn't eat out. We went to the shops to buy some vegetables and meat, and then we cooked meals in the hotel. We saved a lot of money in this way.
