The Spring Festival

    The Spring Festival，Chinese New Year，is the most important festival for all of us. All family members get together on New Year's Eve to have a big meal. ①At the same time，everyone celebrates to each other. At about 12 o'clock，some parents and children light crackers. The whole sky is lighted brightly. We may watch the fireworks excitedly. How busy it is！

    On the first early morning of one year，many senior citizen get up early and they stick the reversed(倒着的) Fu or hang some couplets on the front door. Some house's windows are sticked on red paper cuttings.

    The Chinese New Year lasts fifteen days. ②所以在那十五天的时间里，我们总是挨家挨户的去探访我们的亲戚朋友。 At that time children are the happiest because they can get many red packets from their parents，grandparents，uncles， aunts and so on. The last day of the Chinese New Year is another festival. It names the Lantern Festival.

    So the Chinese New Year comes to the end.

    John is eight years old, and he is a very funny boy. He works hard, so he is good at his subjects. And his teachers and parents like him very much. But he has a very big head.

    Last year, he spent ten days in his uncle's home on summer vacation. His uncle lives in a mountain village and it's about four hundred miles away from his city. He took a train to a small town. There his uncle waited for him and took him to his house by bike.

    John made some friends soon. They played games and swam in the river happily. But one afternoon he cried to his aunt, "All the children make fun of me. They say I have a big head."

    "Don't listen to them," his aunt said. "You have a beautiful head. Now stop crying and go to the store to buy fifty potatoes."

    "Where is the shopping bag?"

    "Oh, dear. I haven't got one. Use your hat."

    People all over the world like to eat in fast food restaurants. The food there is delicious and it comes q{#blank#}1{#/blank#}. Also, it is not too expensive, and the restaurants are always c{#blank#}2{#/blank#}and bright. People can eat in or take their food away.

    Chinese families l{#blank#}3{#/blank#} eating in fast food restaurants, too. There are two kinds of fast food restaurants in China:  the western fast food restaurants and the Chinese o{#blank#}4{#/blank#}. Western fast food restaurants sell hamburgers, French  fries, fried chicken, drinks and so on(等等)。Chinese fast food restaurants sell dumplings, noodles, spring rolls and other Chinese snacks.

    My family likes fast food, but we don't eat at western fast food restaurants very often. My mum says some fast food is b{#blank#}5{#/blank#} for us. It is usually high in fat. It is not good for our h{#blank#}6{#/blank#}.

This winter holiday, my family and I went to Beijing for a trip. We went to many places of interest. My favourite one was Peking University. 

Peking University is one of the best universities in China. We walked into the school from the east gate. There are many traditional buildings in the university. The most famous is the Boya Pagoda (博雅塔) built in 1924, it is a great example of the traditional Chinese building style. 

We then walked to the Weiming Lake with a long history. The lake is another popular place in the university. The word "weiming" means"without being named" in Chinese. Many students like to walk around the lake. During the winter, the lake is frozen. Students can walk or skate on the lake. 

As we walked around the school, we saw some modern teaching buildings, classrooms, libraries and labs. There are also museums in the university. We really enjoyed the beautiful campus (校园) and the rich history of Peking University. 

I hope I will study in Peking University when I grow up. 

 What does a day look like for a high school student in the United States? Well,I can tell you about my day in high school.

 Our schoolday goes from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Sometimes I have cheerleading(啦啦队活动) practice or play practice at 6:30 am. If I have time,I eat breakfast at the school dining room.

 Then I go towards my locker(锁柜) and take my books for the first period. Each class goes for about 50 minutes and we have 10 minutes to get to the next class. We study many things, such as science, maths, French and PE.

I play the piano in a band, so one of my class periods is used for that. Lunchtime is usually at 12:30 pm, and then we have some time to hang out outside or by our lockers. At the end of the day there is a seminar (研讨会) period. It is used for studying or meetings.

 After school, I cheer at a basketball game, or have speech practice. My family always try to have dinner at around 7:00 pm, but there isn't always time. I finally start doing homework at around 8:00 pm or 9:00 pm.

 So there you have it! That's my day in high school.
