I'm David. When I was 13, my parents decided that I should go to England to improve my English. I had never been to other countries before, so I felt a little worried. My parents prepared everything for my journey. My plane was due(预定) to leave at 9:30 am and arrive in two hours. I phoned the English family who I would stay with and they told me they would wait for me at the airport.

Unluckily my plane to London was delayed(推迟). I tried to phone the English family again but I couldn't speak to them because they had already left home for the airport.

When I arrived in London, it was already 1:30 pm. I went to get my luggage(行李) but I couldn't find it. I became very worried. Luckily, the airport workers were very helpful and efficient. I didn't wait long — they found it 10 minutes later.

My English family were quite kind. I learned a lot of English because I spent most of the days talking in English. I played computer games with the little boy in my English family. I also taught him how to play chess. Sometimes I told him stories I learned from my family.

I missed my family during my stay in London, but I also felt sad when my stay came to an end. My English family held a party for me. I enjoyed it very much. I'll never forget that summer in London! It is one of the most wonderful experiences I've ever had.

What will life in the future be like? And what will we be able to do in the future? 

Genetic engineering (基因工程) may help us make the perfect human. Babies may grow up to play basketball like Yao Ming. Also, we may be able to bring the dead back to life. Maybe people will be able to meet and talk with their dead family members. 

Over the next 20 to 50 years, it will become harder to tell (分辨) if a person is dead or alive. Perhaps humans will be able to make copies of ourselves, so we will appear to be alive long after we are dead. Humans may be able to find ways of putting the life of a person into a new body. 

Nanobots (纳米机器人) will be important. We will use them when we are sick. For example, when we have a stomachache, we will swallow (吞下) a nanobot and it will tell the doctor what's happening in our stomachs by taking a video with its camera. 

In the future, computers may have feelings. They may be able to think better than us. We may be more and more interested in computers and spend all our time in front of computers. Perhaps we will forget our real needs. Perhaps we will weigh 250 kgs!

A long time ago, there were two special boys, John and Joey. They showed great talents from an early age, and they did better than others around. 

They grew up but they chose different ways. John used all of his talents to find a good job. He joined in many activities and visited the most important people and places. Everyone thought that he would be the most important person in the world. 

But the second young man, Joey, was different. He always took a heavy responsibility (责任). He thought he should help others. He was always busy looking for ways to help others. 

One day, bad things happened and they met many problems. John didn't know what to do. But Joey always tried his best to solve all kinds of problems. He thought of some good ways and didn't let the bad things affect (影响) the people in his town. From then on, he was more famous than John. 

John then knew that our best talents were not only for ourselves. He learned from Joey that we should always help other people.

Dear diary,

Mom and Dad found a new flat(公寓) today. Now that we are all teenagers, our flat is too small. Sally and I share a room, and Eric's room is really small. Our living room is also quite small and it's a little dark. The windows are too small and there is no balcony(阳台). Our bathroom is big, but it's really old. So my parents decided to find a new flat for us.

The new flat is much bigger. It has four bedrooms, so Sally and I can have our own rooms. Eric's room is large and it has a balcony. He's so happy. Mom and dad's room also has a balcony. There are two bathrooms that are both beautiful and modern. And the living room is excellent . It has two big windows, so it is nice and light. It's in Eastgardens— about five kilometers from here. It's closer to our schools, so that's great. Dad will have to travel a little farther to work, but he doesn't mind(介意).

Here's the best thing. There's a swimming pool. Everyone who lives there shares it. I can't believe it. I can swim every day after school. I can't wait to ask all my classmates to have a po ol party. I am really excited about that.

Hi, I am Mary. I am a middle school student. My school is a very beautiful place. There is a big library with books of all subjects in my school. There are a lot of storybooks and newspapers in the library too. It is in the classroom building.

In the library, there are rows (排) of tables and chairs. It looks very clean. And it's easy for students to find books. We can sit there to read books or borrow books from it. We can take two or five books at a time (一次) and we must give back (归还) the books in a week.

Our library teacher is a nice woman. She is friendly to all students. We all like her. She helps us find books. When we ask her some questions about book, she is happy to answer.

I like reading books. Every day, I go to the library to read books. I love to visit my school library. It's a good place to read and study.

Today, it is a big problem for young people to get fine jobs after they leave university. It is said that there are thousands of different kinds of jobs in the world.    But choosing the right one often worries young people.

Finding a job is not the same as choosing a job. Many young people end up in jobs that they are not suitable for. Here are a few steps to help you think about jobs which you might enjoy doing after school or university.

First, it is important to know what kind of person you are, which special qualities make you better than others and what you are interested in. There is a difference between an interest and a skill. If you like art and enjoy looking at pictures, that is an interest. But if you can draw a horse that looks like a horse not a big dog, that is a skill.

Then ask yourself a question, "In the following three areas-skills with people, skills with information and skills with things, which are my best skills?"

After finding out your best skills, the next step is to do research. To find out as many different kinds of jobs as possible, you should go to the library and read books, magazines and newspapers for information. Ask your friends what they think of the work they do.

The last step is to trust your own ideas and your own thinking! It is your own life. so just find the job you really enjoy doing.
