Nineteen-year-old Zara Rutherford set the world record Thursday as {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (年轻的) woman to fly alone around the world. Rutherford has travelled in small planes with her pilot parents since she was six. At the age of {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (十四), she gained her pilot's license. Then she started flying by {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (她自己).

She began her trip around the world on {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (八月) 18th. It covered 51,000 kilometers over 52 countries and five continents. On Thursday, Rutherford {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (降落，着陆) her small airplane back in western Belgium. The flight was supposed to take three months, but bad {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (天气) and visa delays kept her grounded and extended the trip by about two months. She met many {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (困难) on the way, but she dealt with them {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (成功).

On her website, Rutherford wrote, "Boys learn through toys, street names, history classes and movies that they can be scientists, astronauts, CEOs or presidents." She added, "Usually girls {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (鼓励) to be beautiful, kind, helpful and sweet. With my actions, I want to show women that they can be bold and brave {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (实现) their dreams."

A boy was walking home from the school. Suddenly, he saw a large, red apple 1 on an apple tree. The boy didn't like fruit very much, but this time he had a 2 will to have this one. And the more he looked at it, the 3 he felt and the more he wanted that apple. 

He stood on tiptoe（脚尖）, stretching as high as he could, but he was unable to 4 it. He began to jump up and down, as high as he could, but the apple was still out of 5 . 

"I can't 6 ! " he thought, "7 I can have something to stand on." But his schoolbag wouldn't give enough height and he didn't want to 8 the things inside, either. Looking around, he hoped he could find an old box, a rock, or, with luck, even a ladder, but nothing was 9 . 

Without seeing any other choices, he felt quite 10 and had to walk away. At first, he felt angry 11 how hungry he had become, and how he really wanted that apple. The more he thought like this, the unhappier he would become. 

However, the boy was always a pretty 12 guy. He thought for a while and said to himself, "I can do nothing to get the apple, and the result is unchangeable for me. Being upset isn't 13 because it can't change anything. So I must change my 14 and be joyful. I should go home earlier and eat something else, then I may not be hungry and I may not be angry, 15 .

A horse fair was an interesting place. There were young horses and many beautiful horses from the country. But there were also a lot of poor and thin horses.

At the horse fair there was a man with a gentle voice and kind grey eyes. He offered 23 pounds for me, but the salesman refused. Then a man with a very loud voice came. I was afraid he was going to buy me, but he walked away. Then the grey-eyed man came back again and said, "I'll give you 24 pounds to buy him."

"Done," said the salesman. "He's an excellent horse and if you want him for cab (出租马车) work, he can help you earn more than you pay for him. The horse is well worth the price."

Half an hour later we set off for London, along country roads, until we came to that great city. There were streets to the right, and streets to the left. We went into one of the small streets, and then into a very narrow street, with small and old houses.

My owner stopped at a house. The door opened, and a woman, a little girl and a boy came out.

"Is he gentle, Dad?"

"Yes, Dolly, as gentle as a little cat. And you can pat him."

Dolly, the little girl, patted my shoulder without fear. It felt so good! They led me into a comfortable, clean room, and after a delicious meal I lay down to sleep, thinking "I'm going to be very happy here".

My new owner's name was Jerry. His wife was called Polly and they had two children, Harry and Dolly. The next morning they came to see me. I loved it when they patted me and spoke in gentle voices.

"Let's call him ‘Jack', after the old horse, shall we, Harry?" said Dolly.

"Yes, sounds great!" said Harry.

The first week of my life as Jack, the London cab horse, was very hard. The noise, the people and the traffic on the streets scared me. But Jerry was a very good driver, and that helped me a lot. Jerry soon found that I was ready to work hard and do my best, and he didn't whip (鞭打) me.

He kept me very clean, and gave me as much food as I wanted. But the best thing was that I had Sundays off.

Confucius(孔子) was one of the most important people in Chinese history. He taught people to be polite and love each other. His ideas changed people's lives. Here are some     ▲     about him. Confucius was born around 551 B. C. That was over 2,500 years ago. Some say that Confucius was born into a rich family. Others say he was born poor. One thing is clear: Confucius lived during a time of great trouble.

At that time, different groups in China were fighting. People forgot about good manners(礼仪). This made Confucius upset. He wanted people to be kind and polite to each other. He believed in the idea of" ren". That means" loying others"." People should follow the Golden Rule," he said. The Golden Rule is" to treat others as you would like to be treated". He believed that a good leader should treat his followers with care. This would help the leader set a good example.

Confucius liked music education. Confucius believed music education was useful. He thought music could make people and things different. And he believed that music could make people get on well with each other. So music made it possible for the society to develop well.

" It's time for Field Day again," thought Chloe as she started the last week of school. Chloe was not looking forward to it." Why does everybody think it a big day?" Chloe asked her 1 ." Well, it should be a fun day and a day to 2 ," said Chloe's mom." I'm not good at any of those games that are played, and I'm afraid the kids are going to 3 me. Maybe I can stay at home and 4 Field Day," said Chloe.

 Mary was Chloe's closest friend, and they walked to school every day." Aren't you 5 Field Day?" Mary asked Chloe." No, I don't care about such a boring day. No one ever picks me for their team 6 I'm not good at those games," answered Chloe7 .

Mary felt bad and she told her mom how unexcited Chloe was and 8 what she could do to cheer her friend up." Maybe you can get in a game that you know Chloe is good at," Mary's mom 9 . Mary thought for a moment and said that she knew Chloe was really good at the game horseshoes. She was also good at the water balloon toss too.

Field Day finally arrived. Mary came by Chloe's house for10 daily walk to school Chloe was very 11 on the way to school. Mary noticed that and said," I hear they are going to have horseshoes this year and also a water balloon game."" Really? I 12 horseshoes, and I am pretty good at catching those water balloons without breaking them." said Chloe.13 , Chloe got excited about going to school and starting Field Day.

The games began, and Chloe had the 14 Field Day ever! Thanks to Mary, Chloe's team won the first place in the water balloon toss and she got a ribbon (绶带) for the second place in horseshoes." What a great day!" Chloe said to Mary. With Mary's15 , Chloe is now looking forward to Field Day next year!

"Mrs. Harvey is out on a business trip (出差) today," the principal (校长) said.

Now they might not have that math test this morning. Alma thinks that news (消息) is just 1 . Then a new teacher walks into the room. When Alma sees 2 , she feels embarrassed (尴尬的). 

"That's your dad?" 3 Cary. 

"Yes, it is," Alma answers. 

"He is wearing a funny T-shirt," Cary says. 

"Yes, he is " Alma says. 

Alma's father, Mr. Alvarez, says 4 to everyone. He writes his name on the blackboard. Then he smiles and says, "I know you are going to take a math test this 5 . But tests aren't fun."

The kids all look at each other. 

"6 let's sing songs!" Mr. Alvarez says. 

Then the class sing songs. They tell stories, have a snack and Mr. Alvarez shows them 7 to make hats out of colored paper. 

"Your dad is great!" Cary tells Alma. "School is so much better now for he's 8 teacher." But Alma looks worried (担心的). 

On the way home, Alma says, "Dad, but we need to learn."

"I know, but I want your classmates to 9 me," her dad says. 

"Just be yourself," Alma says, "and they will like you."

The next day, Mr. Alvarez dresses like a 10 . "Today we will get back to learning," Alma's dad tells the class. "But don't worry, Learning can be fun." Alma smiles.
