One day，only my mother and I were at home. She asked me a question，"1 is the most important part of the body? "2 I was young，I thought sound was very important to us， 3 I said，"My ears，Mom. "

"No. Many people 4 deaf（聋的）， "she said. "But keep 5 about it and I will ask you again soon. "

Last year，my grandpa died.6 w as crying. When it was our turn 7 our final goodbye to him，my mother asked me for the 8 time，"Do you know the most important part of your body now，my dear? "

I didn't know how to answer when she 9 me this. I always thought this was just 10 game between her and me. She saw the confusion（疑惑）11 my face and told me，"My dear，the most important body part is your shoulder （肩膀）

"Is it because it holds up 12 head? "I asked. 

"No，it is because it 13 hold the head of a friend or a 14 one when he or she cries，"she answered. "Everybody 15 to have a shoulder to cry on sometimes in life. My dear，I only hope that you have enough love and friends. And then when you feel sad，you will have a shoulder to cry on. "

Hello, I'm Tom.  I come from Cuba (古巴), but recently I moved to China.  I started a new school life here.  It was a big change for me because the school life in China is quite different from that in Cuba. 

School in China starts at 8:00 a. m.  and ends at 4:00 p. m.  The new school is much better than my old school in Cuba.  For example, it is bigger and more beautiful than my old one.  I thought that I might be lost in the first week.  Luckily my new classmate Wang Lei is very friendly.  He showed me around the school.  He is my good friend now.  We always study and eat together.  We go to the canteen for lunch.  The cooks in the canteen cook various (多样的) traditional (传统的) Chinese foods.  They are very delicious.  I hope that one day I can also learn to cook Chinese dishes. 

In China, we don't have so much homework to do every day.  After school, I only have to do my homework for about twenty minutes.  I can go to sleep early.  It's good for my health. 

I start enjoying my school life here.  I am always having so much fun!

Alice walks into a small room. First she sees a small blue table. Then she sees a yellow key under it. She gets the yellow key but it doesn't open any of the doors.

She moves a curtain (窗帘) on one of the walls and finds another door, a red one. She puts the key in the lock. Oh! It's right. Alice opens the door and looks through it. Then she sees a big garden with some flowers in it.

"Oh, how beautiful!" Alice says, "I want to go into the garden, but I'm too big. I can't get through the door."

She walks back to the small blue table. There is a cup on it now. Next to the cup, there is a purple card.

She reads the words on the card, "Drink me, and then you can go through the door." At that time, the phone rings. She finds it's only a dream(梦).

 It just hadn't been a very good week. On Tuesday, Sam's father lost his job. Then on Wednesday, Sam mother got to know the cost of their apartment(公寓) was going up. Now it was Friday, and Sam receive( an invitation from Rosa to her birthday party.

 Sam knew Rosa from Adventure Club. He knew he would enjoy Rosa's party, but he didn't want to g without a gift. What could he possibly buy her with the little bit of money he had? Sam knew he couldn ask Mom or Dad for any money— not this week!

 Later that afternoon, Sam noticed a second-hand book sale going on. He went there and had a quic look. Two books caught his eye, The first was a cookbook of Puerto Rican foods, and the second was book about women explorers(探险者)"Rosa would like these," Sam thought, "but would it be ashamed to give her second-hand books for her birthday?"

 Sam decided that a second-hand gift was better than no gift at all. Besides, Rosa supported recycling in a big way. So, she would probably like it. With his last dollar, Sam bought the books and went home. He felt a little better.

 The party was on Saturday. Rosa opened all her gifts and thanked everyone for the nice things they had given her. She paused when she opened Sam's gift, which made him wonder if she liked the books, but nothing was said.

 When Sam got home, he opened his e-mail and found this note from Rosa.

Dear Sam,

Of all the gifts I received today, yours was the nicest. How did you know I would love a book about women explorers and a cookbook of Puerto Rican foods? Now I have something to read that will inspire me to follow my dream of becoming an adventurer, and I have a book that I can share with my grandmother. She is getting older and wants to be sure her granddaughter knows how to make the - wonderful foods of Puerto Rico. Thank you so much.
