    Autumn is a good time for children to go outside and see the changing colors of nature. The wind is cool, the days are short and the leaves are changing colors. Autumn is a great season for kids to play outside. What outdoor activities do children like?

    In China, students often have an autumn picnic held by their school. Usually, they will go to an amusement(娱乐) park or to places that are close to nature.

    What kinds of autumn activities are there for children in other countries?

    Japanese students often go hiking. It is a perfect way to get exercise while enjoying the scenes(景色). Mountain climbing in such nice weather is also a good choice(选择).

    Children in the USA like to go for bike rides in autumn. Take a mountain bike ride and you can explore new trails (探索新路). Playing in a leaf pile is popular, too. Kids jump into the leaf pile to see the colorful leaves fly all around. They also make leaf rain and leaf beds — all a lot of fun.

    In the UK, school kids like to camp outside with their parents. They make snacks over the fire and tell ghost stories.

    School Children's Books

    School Children's Books are happy that best-selling writer Holly Webb is their World Book Day writer for 2012. Holly has written a large number of books for children and she has written a special Magic Molly story just for this year's World Book Day!

    Reading Package

    On the World Book Day, every primary school student in Britain will receive a package from their school. Inside, there is a story book, a beautiful card and a reading list. Besides these three things, they will also receive a special note, which is worth one pound. Children can use it to buy their favorite books. And they can also enjoy a special price-20% cheaper.

    Share of Reading

    It is an interesting on-line activity which is for one week. People can share their opinions of a book on line. There are also many reading-aloud activities in libraries. For example, in 2010's World book Day the former US first lady Michelle Obama read aloud a book called The Cat in The Hat for more than 200 children in a library.

The Amazing Spider Man

    Spider Man is a hero. People got to know the hero through the Spider Man movie series.

    Now, a new Spider Man movie is coming to our eyes. It has a new name called The Amazing Spider Man. A new director called Marc Webbis directed the movie and a new actor, Andrew Garfield, played Spider Man.

    The Amazing Spider Man is also about the story of Peter Parker, a high school student. His parents left him when he was a boy, and he was raised by his Uncle Ben and Aunt May. Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today.

    As Peter finds a briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins to find out why his parents disappeared. The discovery of his father's secret will shape his destiny(命运)of becoming “Spider Man.”Peter will make his choices to use his powers and become a hero.

    Unlike the former one, the new movie focuses on Spider Man developing his abilities in high school, as well as discovering the mystery(秘密)of his parents, or at least what happened to his father.

    The movie is going to come out on July 3, 2012 in 3D.

    I am a teacher in a middle school. I have a good friend called Mr White. He is the head of an office. He's often busy and has no time to do the housework. His wife knows him well and does all at home.

    Unluckily, their daughter Rose got hurt in a traffic accident two weeks ago, and had to be in hospital. Mrs White had to look after her there and she couldn't look after Mr White well. Mr White often ate in restaurants. As he never did any cleaning, the rooms were all in a mess(混乱) .

    Yesterday morning, before Mr White got up, the telephone rang. He sat up to answer it. His friend Tony told him to write down an important telephone number. But he could not find a pen or a piece of paper. He found there was much dust(灰尘) on the table and wrote the number on it with his finger. But soon he forgot about it and went to work.

    This morning, Mrs White and their daughter came back home.

    At noon, Mr White came in while Mrs White was cleaning the rooms. He sadly found the table was clean and the number was gone(不见了) .

    People enjoy travelling around the world during their holidays. Before travelling to New York, you'd better know the following tips.

Arriving in New York

    There are three airports in New York. When you arrive at one of them, you can take a bus or taxi to any place in New York.

Public transport

    In New York there's a good bus and subway service. If you are planning to use the subway a lot, you should buy a subway ticket for ten journeys because it's cheaper. But you don't have to use public transport, there are lots of places you can go to on foot, such as the Empire State Building, 5th Avenue and Central Park.

Hotels

    There are lots of good hotels in New York. The best is the Plaza on 5th Avenue, but you don't have to pay a lot to stay in the city；there are lots of smaller hotels and the YMCA near Central Park is great for young people.

Eating out

    There are many kinds of food in New York and you shouldn't eat at McDonalds every day. There are good restaurants in Little Italy and Chinatown, for example.

Shopping

    Shopping in New York is fun. There are big shops on 5th Avenue. They are open seven days a week. But be careful when you look at the prices；you have to pay a special 8% tax on everything you buy in New York.

Places to see

    Finally, there are a lot of places to see in New York, Times Square, the Statue of Liberty and so on. And you shouldn't go home without climbing the Empire State Building to enjoy the scenery of the city.
