Did you watch the 19 Asian Games opening ceremony in Hangzhou on September 23rd, 2023? Were you surprised when the final torchbearer (火炬手) Wang Shun and the digital (数字的) torchbearer lit the main torch together?

Sha Xiaolan, the chief producer (总制片人) of the opening ceremony, said, "We've fully integrated (融入) AR and 3D technologies into the opening ceremony. This was probably the greatest integration of technology into something like an opening ceremony of this kind."

The opening ceremony started from the Kongming Lanterns at the beginning. In between, there were shows of the three mascots through 3D technology. And you could enjoy the digital fireworks and digital torchbearer in the end.

"You saw a little of such technologies during the closing ceremony at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games. But now we have better techniques and creativity." Sha said. "We integrated these technologies into the ceremony to show that Hangzhou is trying its best to hold environmentally-friendly Asian Games. We were improving and making things better," Sha said. "I think the opening ceremony is beyond our expectations."

As a traditional and meaningful board game, weiqi was invented in China more than 4,000 years ago and it is still played until today.

The playing pieces are called stones. One player uses the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} stones and the other, black. The players take turns to play the stones on the game board. As we know, the board surface has 361 cross {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (point). The stones are placed on them.

Weiqi is also called Go in the world. Learning it can not only improve people's logical (逻辑的) thinking ability, {#blank#}3{#/blank#} also develop their calm character. That's why it is more and more popular with modern people.

In the Sui and Tang Dynasties, weiqi {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (travel) to Japan, and then to Europe in the 19th century. Now it has {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (grow) into an international competition event. So far, people from over forty {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (country) have played it. Among them, players from China, Japan and the Republic of Korea have the {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (high) level of weiqi.

On February 19, 2021, Chinese-English Dictionary of Weiqi Term (术语) came out in Beijing. It's the {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (one) professional (专业的) dictionary about weiqi in China. As a symbol {#blank#}9{#/blank#} Chinese culture, weiqi has its special language. The dictionary will be used as a necessary tool and bridge for {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (spread) weiqi culture.

②Alphorns(阿尔卑斯长号角) were once used to communicate in the mountains in Switzerland. They are very long and they are very heavy, too. So, alpharns are hard work to blow. Then why use them? Well,they make a loud sound which travels much further than the human voice. Herdsmen(牧民) used them to call cows in the distance for milking. At sunset, alpharns were also used to send a message down to villagers that all was well. These days, they're mostly used as musical instruments.

③The people ofLa Gomera, an island in Europe, have their own special way of sending messages from mountain to mountain. They use a whistled(口哨的) language called el silbo, which comes from their language . Spanish. Whistling can be heard within five kilometers, which means it can be used across much greater distances than shouting. El silbo can be used for all kinds of messages, including greetings and announcements. El si lbo is used a lot less than it used to be, but primary school students in La Gomera have to leave it.

④Did you know it's also possible to send messages without making a noise? This is called visual communication, and it includes the use of flags and even smoke. Long ago, soldiers along the Great Wall of China used smoke as a warning. If they noticed the enemy from their signal(信号) tower, they li t a smoky fire. When soldiers in other towers saw the smoke signal, they lit fires too. In this way, messages about the enemy's arrival could travel as far as 800 km in just a few hours.

Our lives would not be the same without bees. Bees help plants grow. Many of these plants provide us with food. What would happen if there were no bees? Some fruits and vegetables that we enjoy could not grow. Bees are wonderful creatures*.

But now the number of bees is getting lower and lower. Scientists worry that bees may die off. How can we solve it? One answer is to make our gardens friendly to bees.

Making our gardens bee- friendly can increase the number of bees. Planting a bee garden is a great idea. These gardens provide bees with nectar*. A successful bee garden would have flowers from spring to fall. The garden would have all kinds of plants that are closely grouped together.

Many people believe that all bees live in hives. In fact, some bees dig into the ground. There they build nests and lay eggs. People lay wood pieces or other things on the ground. Bees can not dig nests when these materials cover the ground. Here is another good way to help bees. When you are working outside, leave loose dirt* in flower beds and gardens.

Some bees' nests are in old pieces of wood while others' in holes, in buildings or in trees. Gardens can provide spaces like these for bees. Trees or walls that stop wind are a good idea. And cool areas also can help bees get away from the hot sun. Bee gardens also provide bees with water. Bees need water just like people do

Making a garden friendly for bees is far from a useless task. The results are worth* the efforts*.  A bee- friendly garden is beautiful and colorful. Most importantly, it helps to keep bees healthy and happy.
