On the final day of the summer camp, Ada and Lydia stood below the camp's highest, hardest rope (绳子) course. Lydia raised her hand and 1 to go first. Hands before feet, Lydia began her climb 2 the rope ladder.

"Go, Lydia, go! You're the best." Ada 3 from below. When Lydia made it all the way across, Ada smiled in relief for her friend but also felt 4 : it was her turn now.

Ada reached out her arms to the first wood rung on the rope ladder. Her arms felt shaky (颤抖的) as she felt the ladder swing a little because of her 5 . She walked her hands 6 forward to the next rung. About halfway across the ladder, Ada was starting to feel a little more confident. She could do this!

Ada 7 for the next rung, just as a strong wind made the rope ladder swing. Ada's hand did not hold the wood rung.8 , her hand hit only air and continued downward, followed by her arm, her shoulder and the rest of her body!

Almost immediately, the harness (保护带) caught her. Ada could see all the other kids staring up at 9 . As she was lowered to the ground slowly, Ada's face burned from 10 .

"Can I try again?" Ada said, holding back tears.

The coach looked at the watch. "I'm sorry, Ada. We don't have time."

On the bus home, Ada rested her head 11 the window. Beside her, Lydia sat silently and thoughtfully. "Hey, Ada?" Lydia said. "I couldn't have made it without you. I got so scared at first, 12 you encouraged me and I kept going."

"You got scared?" Ada asked.

Lydia 13 , her eyes widening. "Super scared. I'm surprised I didn't give up." Ada smiled a little. "You were just unlucky that the 14 came up," continued Lydia.

Right that moment, she knew her friend was trying to cheer her up. Suddenly falling off the ladder did not seem so 15 anymore. Anyway, she tried hard.

Do you like weekends? The weekend is a time for family {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (member) to relax together. First, we often go {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(outdoor) together on weekends. Planting trees in the field, walking and {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (go) on a picnic are popular outdoor activities. When the wind blows on children's faces {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(soft), they begin {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (laugh). They also like going fishing {#blank#}6{#/blank#}the lake. In autumn, the colourful leaves {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (cover) the path(道路)in the park. The sky is higher and bluer than that of any other season in a year. It is a good season to pick fruits in the fruit garden. On cold winter days, we may watch movies. We often work together {#blank#}8{#/blank#} home. Some do cleaning in the garden. Some may also like {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (paint) their houses. We are busy on weekends, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} we are happy and relaxed.

 "BANG!" the door was shut loudly. I was just standing there, with my father standing on one side, and I on the other side. We were both in great anger. "Never set foot in this house again!" my father said angrily. With tears in my eyes, I rushed out and ran along the street. The street lights were shining. I felt sad and walked aimlessly (漫无目的地) . 

I didn't know whether it was because I had grown up or because my dad was getting old. He always put his opinions on me. We were just like two people in two different worlds. It felt like there was an iron door between us that could never be opened. 

My heart was frozen (冰冷的) on this hot summer night.As I walked on, there were fewer and fewer people on the streets. When I finally reached my house, I saw that the light was still on. 

"Perhaps my dad is throwing away some of his old stamps," I thought. "Perhaps he thinks they are useless." I never had the courage to tell him that I liked collecting stamps. All the lights were off except my father's. 

Dad was always like this. Maybe he didn't know how to express himself. After shouting at me, he never showed any moments of regret (懊悔) . This was how he always was. He had been a leader for so long that telling everyone else what to do had become his second nature. 

The light was still on. With the key in hand, I opened the door nervously. When I opened the door, tears ran down my face. I suddenly realized that the iron door that I had imagined between us did not exist (存在) at all. Love- it's second to none. 

John, a famous musician, took his priceless violin and played it in the crowded subway station. The music from the violin was in the wind throughout the whole station. However, during the one-hour play, only six or seven people were truly 1 the music. A three-year-old kid was so2 in the music that he forgot everything around. John only got 52 dollars for his work that day. 

However, in3 days, when John is about to hold a concert, one ticket can be sold at more than 100 dollars, and it is really 4 to buy a ticket even at such a high price.5 later, many passers-by in the station that day for not recognizing the famous musician and missing such a.6 but cheap music feast (盛宴) . 

I have a very busy friend called Charles. He had totally7 after knowing that his wife came down with an illness that cannot be 8 , and she couldn't live long. He cooked by himself for the family and took a walk with his wife every day. But even so, his wife still didn't 9 the illness and passed away. After that, he often sighed. Due to his past busy life, he had missed a lot of 10 time with his wife. But now, it is impossible to 11 for it. 

But it is no use crying over spilt milk. In our life, we have missed a lot of precious things without knowing to 12 them. The reason is less than simple; we had thought that we could 13 own them tomorrow. 

There was a famous-Buddhist mook saying that in many people's lives, they have only done two things: waiting and regretting. The result is that they were always too late to cherish what they had before they lost it. We would often expect to do 14 when we grow up, or when we have money or when we become old, etc. However, when we reach the 15 we have expected, we could no longer realize our wish, because we have lost it by then

I am sitting in an empty football field after my last high school football game that finished a few hours ago. I'm the midfield player(中场球员) in my team. But in fact that's not 1 now.  I was the midfield player because, as I said, this was my 2 game. That's a good way to end  a high school football career(生涯), especially if you win, but even though you don't, it's good to 3 at a high point.

I was eight when I first started playing football. My dad 4 football, and he used to practice with me at home-passing, catching, running. We used to 5 almost every evening until it got too dark. He tried to teach me 6 he knew about the game. "Just remember: Don't ever 7 .""Stay in the game. Don't lose your concentration(专注).""Go out there and give 110 percent every time." Well, that was a long time ago, but I still hear his words 8 in my ears.

I had a lot in my mind before the game today. I don't like things to 9 ,I guess, and this was the last game. I was talking to myself and 10 myself about what to do and not to do. I didn't sleep at all yesterday, and when the sun came up this morning, I reached the point where11 just wanted it all to be over. But then when the game started, my mind became empty.

I just lived in this game, this moment. I didn't 12 the crowd;I didn't feel the cold or the pain;I never felt tired. I just kept my eyes on the ball, and it was just me and the ball and, inside, a soft, white light 13 me the way to the goal. It was a beautiful, empty 14 .

 It's all over now, and it's really getting cold here. It's starting to snow. The sun's almost gone, and I 15 see the goal. Now it's dark and I'm sitting here all alone. Well, I guess it's time to say goodbye and move on.
