Yesterday was my birthday. I planned to{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(做一个蛋糕) by myself. My mom told me all the steps. But I still {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(犯错误). In the end, I not only failed but also {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(把厨房弄得一团糟). It {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (使我不开心). My mom then {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(把厨房打扫干净) and bought a cake for me. She was so kind!

On 4 June 1913, a woman called Emily Davison① went to a horse race, threw herself under the king's horse and later died from her injuries. A1 which said "Votes for women" was found in her pocket. All her life, Emily had been fighting for women's rights. She was a suffragette, part of a group of women who started working together in 1903 to 2 equal rights for women. When Emily was young, she and all the other women in the UK were not allowed to vote, go to university or work in the same jobs as men. In the event of a divorce②, the husband took the children. In poor villages, wives were 3 sold in the market. 

The suffragettes wanted to 4 all this. More than a thousand were arrested③, but they did not stop. They went on hunger strike in prison to fight against the unfair treatment. In 1928, women in the UK finally got the right to vote and then more and more women started to go to university and get jobs. In 1952, female teachers were given the right to earn the same money as male teachers. The situation has been 5 since the suffragettes' time but many people say that men and women are still not equal in society.6 , now in the UK, men earn 20 per cent more than women for the same work. If you are a male manager, your chance of being promoted④ is 40 per cent higher than a female manager's. That's why many people are still fighting for equal rights for women in the UK. 

Bill was a boy of 15. His parents went to gambling (赌博) day and night. 

Nobody cared about him. He always failed in his exams. So his teachers didn't like him, nor did his classmates play with him. Bill often slept in class because his heart was not in school. He almost gave himself up. 

One day, Miss Jones, a new teacher, came to Bill's class. She was a smiling, beautiful woman. Bill was in love! For the first time in his young life, he couldn't take his eyes off his teacher. 

It was Miss Jones' class. She was asking a question. "I'd like the smartest boy to answer my question. " Then she said loudly, "Bill, please!" Bill was surprised. And he stood up without a word. 

"Just try it! I believe you can!" After school, Miss Jones had a long talk with Bill. She told him that she cared about him and believed in him. 

Bill thought a lot that evening. From then on, he arrived at school on time every day. Miss Jones helped him with his homework in the afternoon. She even cooked delicious food for him. She told Bill, "Nothing is impossible if you put your heart in it. "

Later, Miss Jones gave another exam. Bill did it with all his heart. He was very excited to find that he had passed the exam. Now Bill discovered that not only could he learn, but he could do it well. A change took place in Bill's heart. 

You see, one teacher saved one boy. It's simple, really. 

Donna Brown, a 14- year- old girl, was very ill. She had a bad heart. "Donna must have a new heart. " Her doctor said, "or she will die soon. " Felipe Green, Donna's good friend, heard the news, he was very worried about (担心) Donna. He didn't want her to die. He decided to give his heart to her because he knew he was going to die. 

Then he talked to his mother about his idea. But his mother didn't pay much attention to him. "Felipe is just playing a joke (玩笑), " his mother thought. In fact, Felipe often had terrible headaches(头疼) and never told his mother about them. 

One morning, he woke up with great pain and he couldn't breathe (呼吸). The Greens hurried to send him to the hospital. The doctors had bad news for the Greens. "Felipe's brain is dead. " The Greens were very sad. But Felipe's mother remembered (记住) his words. She told the doctors to give Felipe's heart to Donna. The doctors did several tests (测试). They said they could give Felipe's heart to Donna. 

Everything was successful. Felipe's heart was beating (跳动) in Donna's chest (胸膛), but Donna didn't know it. The doctors and her parents didn't tell her until (直到) she was stronger. Donna was very thankful to the Greens. Every time the Greens saw Donna, they thought of Felipe. Donna has Felipe's heart in her. That gives them great peace. 

My favourite athlete (运动员) is Ma Long. He's one of the 1 table tennis players in the world.

Just like many other 2 athletes, Ma Long has made great achievements (成就) in table tennis through hard work. Born in 1988, Ma Long 3 to play table tennis at 5. When he was 13, his ability in table tennis was noticed by a coach. Therefore, he had to leave 4 hometown for Beijing so that he 5 continue to train for table tennis. In 2003, Ma Long joined the national team. He trained very hard, 6 he became a great player later.

So far Ma long has won many gold medals. In the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, he became the champion of both men's singles and men's team. It was his third time 7 part in it. In the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou in 2023, he won the gold medal of men's team with his teammates. 8 he does, he never gives up. In my heart, Ma Long is a symbol of courage and success. He is 9 amazing table tennis player! As a Chinese, I am so proud 10 him.
