Our dog Abbey died last month. My 4-year-old daughter Lucy missed her a lot and asked if we could write a letter to God to make sure he could look after Abbey well. I told Lucy that I thought we could, and she dictated (口述) these words:

Dear God,

① you, take, dog, of, will, care, my , please (?) She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick. I hope you will play with her. She likes to swim and play with balls. I am sending a picture of her so when you see her you will know that she is my dog. I really miss her.

We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Lucy and addressed it to God/Heaven. Yesterday, we received a package addressed, “To Lucy” with this note:

Dear Lucy,

Abbey has arrived in heaven.

She isn't sick anymore. ② Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. You don't need to worry about her. She's being looked after very well here. Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it to me. ③ You have a wonderful mother. I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much. By the way, I'm easy to find. I am wherever there is love.

    One day, Howard Kelly, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door in order to pay his way through school, found he had only one coin left, and he was hungry.

    He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However, he became very nervous when a lovely young woman opened the door. Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water.

    Young woman thought he looked hungry so she brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it slowly, and then asked, “How much do I owe(欠) you?”

     “You don't owe me anything,” she replied, “We never accept payment for a kindness.” He said, “Then I thank you from my heart.”

    Years later that young woman became very ill and was finally sent to the big city, where they called in specialists (专家）to study her rare disease. Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation (咨询). When he heard the name of the town she came from, he went to her room. He recognized her at once. He decided to do his best to save her life.

    After a long struggle, the battle was won. The woman thought it would take the rest of her life to pay for the final bill. But when she saw the bill, she read these words: “Paid in full with one glass of milk” (Signed by Dr. Howard Kelly).

    Exam time is the most stressful period of the year. You have worked all school term on your classes and now it's the time to prove what you have learned. With so much at stake (处于成败关头), it is easy to get stressed about your exams. However, with the right amount of hard work and focus you can pass your tests easily.

    When I was in school, I used to get very stressed over my exams. So did my friends. Some people stopped eating and others ate too much! Some gave up and others burned themselves out! The most important thing to remember when studying is not to feel frightened! Take the middle path -- stay calm, eat healthy and get a rest. Pushing yourself too hard is just as dangerous as not studying enough. A tired, overworked brain is just as useless as a lazy, empty one!

    So, what should you do ?Arrange a time each day for study and a time for relaxation .You may have less time to relax than usual, but you still need to let your brain rest for a few moments. Get plenty of sleep .If you are tired, information will not stick in our memory. Finally eat healthy foods that fuel （给……加油）your body and mind.

    It is bad to think too much about your exams. Some students may think that the rest of their life depends on them .That's not true. Instead, just view the exams as another difficulty you will overcome. You have overcome all kinds of difficulties in you life so far. With the right amount of work and focus, you will pass your exams with flying colours! High school is right around the corner!

    My father woke up(叫醒)my brother and me early one summer morning when l was fourteen and said ''Get up! you're going with me to cut the grass in the garden”

    From Sunup to sundown，my father，my brother and l worked in the garden．By the end of the day, my brother and l were too tired to say a word but we were excited．This was our first time to help our father work．I got$6 for my work that day；and my brother got$2 more．

    Then l worked with my father and brother almost every Saturday．One day my father found some grass I had missed and said．“Cut the grass! Don't make me have to tell you to do it again．”I knew he was telling me the importance of doing a job well the first time．It really helped me a lot．

    两年后，我父亲告诉我，我年龄足够大了，可以自己割草了。Every Saturday during my last two years of high school，1 woke up early in the morning to work in the garden．Looking after the garden was neither exciting nor（既不……也不……） high—paying，but I didn't care(在乎)．My father once said，“If you're only thinking about money, maybe you won't think about how to do the job better．”

    I do many jobs for my family．In every job， from cutting the grass to washing the clothes．I've learned much．I've learned something that helps me in my next job．

   Taking a nap(小睡) every single day may be the least favorite thing for a child in kindergarten. However, being able to relax and get some rest in the middle of the day is great for many adults. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

    {#blank#}2{#/blank#}People who take naps are seen as lazy. You can even be kicked off your job if you fall asleep at work. This kind of thinking dates back to the founders of the US, Puritans(清教徒). {#blank#}3{#/blank#}

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#}Some people even bring their pillows(枕头) to work for nap time. People have a much more relaxing attitude towards taking naps than in the US.

    {#blank#}5{#/blank#}But on the other hand, having a short rest can help you work better. A good rest can improve your mood as well. So why not take a nap during lunch break and make the rest of the day more enjoyable?
