As humans, we use the senses of sight, touch, and hearing to communicate. We send messages with body language, we greet friends with touch, and we use words to show our feelings and ideas. Animals don't communicate in as many ways as humans --for example, they don't have language like we do —but many animals do also use the senses of sight, touch, and hearing. A good example of this is elephant communication.

Like humans, elephants understand each other by looking at each other's body language. To send a message, they use their whole body, or just their heads, eyes, mouth, ears, trunk (象鼻), tail, or feet. For example, elephants spread (展开) their ears to show anger. And while humans shake their heads to disagree, elephants to do this to show they are happy.

As with humans, touch is also very important between elephants. Just like a human mother holds her baby, a mother elephant regularly touches her young baby with her trunk. Elephants also show they are friendly when they touch other elephants. And when they want to have fun, they hold each other by the trunk and pull. Even if they can't laugh like a human, elephants have a great sense of humor.

Elephants have very large ears, which means they can hear other elephants from as far as 2.5miles away. Like humans, they can also copy sounds and make their own sounds that seem to communicate basic human words and phrases like, "Hello." "I love you." and "Let's go."

So while it's true that humans are amazing at communication, elephants also communicate in ways that we can't and that's probably true for other animals, too. The next time your pet dog or cat looks at you, touches you, or makes a noise, it's probably trying to tell you something very important!

My name is Wang Juan. I am from Guilin, Guangxi. Many people know about Guilin for its 1 mountains and rivers. But Guilin also has many historical sites. Lingqu Canal (灵渠运河) is one of2  .

Lingqu Canal is one of 3  canals in China. It connects (连接) the Xiang River and the Li River. It is one of the world's earliest practices in connecting two rivers through a canal. Qin Shi Huang 4 Shi Lu to build it. He wanted to build a canal for grain transport (粮草运输). At the same time, it would help people go to Lingnan much more 5 . It could also help farmers get enough water to their farmlands and grow more food.

Lingqu Canal has a great name in 6  world history of canals. It is a great example of old canals in China and 7  Chinese people's great talent to the world. Now, it is getting more and more popular with visitors. Summer is the best time 8  the canal. You can walk on the streets along the canal, see old9 and buildings, or take a boat ride. There is a lot to do10 fun.

 Emei kung fu is on the national intangible cultural heritage list(国家级非物质文化遗产名录). These girls put new things like pop music, dance and clothes into Emei kung fu to promote(推广) Emei kung fu.

 The members study so hard every day on Emei Mountain in Sichuan. They have to learn Emei kung fu, horse riding, archery(射箭) and how to do kung fu in front of people. Study makes them better and they love learning them. When asked why they want to keep learning Emei kung fu, Ma Zhaolingyun, a member of the group, says, "We want to bring in something new and special and help people learn more about Emei kung fu."

 What they do can help show Chinese traditional culture(传统文化) in an amazing way. Now, more people are going to Emei Mountain to study kung fu.

Swifts（雨燕）live mostly in the air. These small birds are among the fastest animals on Earth. In fact, swifts can fly two or three days without touching the ground! To get used to life in the sky, swifts use their speed and the saliva（唾液）in their mouths. 

Swifts can fly faster than 100 miles per hour. That's because their wings are like boomerangs（回力镖）. This shape of the wings helps them to fly fast. They can also move one wing faster than the other, which allows them to make sharp turns without slowing down. Making fast, sharp turns helps swifts catch flying bugs to eat. 

The saliva helps swifts catch bugs to feed their young. It is sticky, like glue. Swifts often fly into clouds of bugs such as mosquitoes and open their wide mouths to catch as many insects as they can. The bird collects insects in its mouth gradually and holds the insects in a sticky ball of saliva. One food ball can contain （包含）nearly 1, 000 bugs. 

Swifts also use their saliva as glue to build their nests. The birds catch feathers in the air and stick the feathers together to build a strong nest. Swifts' short feet are not fit for walking or standing on land for long. But their sharp claws allow them to stick to rocks and walls so they can take a short rest before returning to the sky.
