Several years ago, I spent most of my time at a mental hospital (精神病院) in our town. I found much joy there. At first it was a little scary to be there, but I stayed on, because I had a reason for doing this.

I volunteered in a locked-up (封闭的) environment. To my surprise, I found that a friend of my parents' was a patient in this hospital. I knew, when I was a baby, this woman wanted to keep me because she had no children. I looked after this woman and showed my old photos to her. Finally, she was able to remember some old things, and she said to me one day, "Dear, you should not come here. But I wanted to bring something happy into this woman's life. I learned that because she had no family, she couldn't leave here and go home. So I brought her to my home twice and I still remembered the happy smile on her face.

I have never forgotten this volunteering experience. This woman later passed away. I can't see her anymore, but I'm happy that I have done something to make a difference in another person's life.

Alex set his lunch tray on the table near his friend Leo. "Trade you some fries for some pretzels" Alex said. 

"Deal," said Leo, taking his bag of pretzels out of bis lunchbox. 

Alex noticed a folded piece of paper at the bottom of Leo's lunchbox. 

"What's that?" asked Daniel, another boy in their class. 

Before Leo could answer, Daniel grabbed the paper. He unfolded it and read in a loud voice: "Dear Leo, I hope you have a great day. Love. Mom."

Daniel snorted. "Your mom puts notes in your lunchbox?"

"Yes," Leo said. 

Daniel read the note again, to himself. It almost looked as if he wanted to keep it.

"Give it back to Leo," said Alex. 

"Well, who wants a note anyway?" Daniel said. 

"I do," said Leo. 

Alex liked getting notes too. 

Daniel tossed the note and it fell to the floor. 

Alex picked it up. He handed it back to Leo, who put it into his pocket. 

On the bus that afternoon, Alex thought about what had happened. 

Alex's older brother, Mateo, arrived home just after Alex did. "How was your day, little dude?" Mateo asked. 

"A boy in my class was mean to Leo," Alex said. He explained the way Daniel had acted. 

Mateo shook his head. "How would Daniel like it if people picked on him for getting a note?"

"Daniel never gets notes," Alex said. Suddenly, he had an idea. "That's it! I know how to help Leo and Daniel."

Alex explained his idea to Mateo. Mateo agreed to help, and they worked on the plan all afternoon. 

At lunchtime the next day, Alex hurried to the cafeteria. He set out 23 folded pieces of paper on a table by the entrance. Each piece of paper had the name of a classmate on it. 

"What are these?" asked Mira. 

"We all have notes," said Sabrina. 

Alex watched as Daniel picked up the note with his name on it. Alex knew that the note said Daniel,  ▲  Have a great day.

Alex saw Daniel smile as he put the note into his pocket. 

"Great idea, Alex," said Leo. 

"Now everyone knows how it feels to get a lunch note," Alex said.

How did you spend your summer holiday last month? I'd like to tell you 1 happened to me during my holiday. 

My 2 planned a relaxing and happy trip. We didn't need to keep up with our work and studies. On the first day, 3 we started out for Shanghai, we saw on TV that the traffic was heavy. So my parents 4 not to drive our car but to take the bullet train(高速火车) to Shanghai. It was the first time that I had ridden on the bullet train, so I was really 5 .

On the way, an American girl sat next to me and I talked to her. She told me that she came here for a short stay—her father came to China on business. In one year he would 6 to his company in the US. "How are you getting along here?" I asked. "Pretty good. I 7 the life here. China is a beautiful and great country. Besides, Chinese people are pretty 8 , "she said. Hearing that, I felt proud that I'm Chinese! With new friends around, the girl still missed her friends in the US very much. "It doesn't matter. I could always connect with them by writing letters and emails or making phone calls, " she said with a sweet9 . It was so great for her to be able to go through life in10 countries and cultures. I hope I can experience different cultures in other countries some day. 

I'm Victor. On my seventh birthday, my mom {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(给) me a book about stars. That was the start of my hobby.

The weather in Australia changes a lot. Why? Because Australia is such a large country.{#blank#}1{#/blank#} The northern parts of Australia are warm to hot all year round because it is closer to the equator (赤道). In the north, summer is also the rainy season. 

The areas along the coast around Sydney are warm in winter with the lowest temperatures about 50°F to 60°F. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} However, if you think all parts of the country are warm all year round, you'll be wrong. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} When we say it's cold, we don't mean it's like the winter in Harbin. In some places in Tasmania and Victoria, you can see snow and temperatures there are below freezing.{#blank#}4{#/blank#} There are ski resorts (滑雪度假区) in the mountains of Australia. 

In Australia, you can enjoy everything from sunbathing on the beach to knocking snow off your boots after a day of skiing. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} If you want to go there for a visit, all you should think about is the weather there. 

Zhao Hongcheng, born in 1990, is a video content creator who has over 84, 000 followers on the video-sharing platform Bilibili. A wheelchair {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(be) part of her life since she was 1 year old. She uses her platform {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (call) for greater understanding of the lives and needs of disabled（残疾的） people. She wants to be a bridge between the disabled {#blank#}3{#/blank#} the rest of society. She made her first video in 2019, and the rising popularity of short videos gave her confidence. Her fourth video made her even {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (popular) on the Internet. In 2021, she became {#blank#}5{#/blank#} full-time content creator on Bilibili.

In her video about a tour in Shanghai, she find {#blank#}6{#/blank#} hard for the disabled people with a wheelchair to get on the underground, so she put forward some useful {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(advise) for such service. She said if people with disabilities faced such service every day, they would probably give {#blank#}8{#/blank#} traveling. {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (luck), her suggestions were accepted by the city.

But most people with disabilities are not as lucky as Zhao. Some people with minor disabilities were being looked down by companies. She hopes that the rights (权利) of disabled people to receive education can {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (protect) better, and the good news is that equality has improved over the years.
