How is everything? I am not happy these days. My parents are angry with me because they think I live an unhealthy life on weekends. They want me to spend my weekend like my sister Jenny.

I always get up late. So I usually have nothing for breakfast. I play basketball for an hour then. For lunch, I often eat out. Hamburgers and ice-cream are my favorites. I know they are not good for me, but they taste great. After lunch, I usually go to the movies with my friends. Sometimes, I sleep all the afternoon. In the evening, I either watch TV or play computer games. I don't go to bed until eleven thirty.

But Jenny is different. She never gets up after six thirty. Then she brushes teeth and does morning exercises. After that, she has milk and eggs. She does her homework all the morning. For lunch, she eats rice, meat, fish and vegetables. She studies for 3 hours before she eats dinner. Sometimes, she helps with housework after dinner. Then she goes out to take a walk. She reads and takes a shower before going to bed."What a great day I have!"Jenny always says.

It is weekend! I just want to relax myself well. I don't like to hear my parents always say the same words again and again to me. It's terrible to live like Jenny! What can I do?

It's Sunday today. He needn't go to school. He {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (want) to buy a jacket for school. His mother is busy at work, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} he goes to the clothes store with his father. They buy a white jacket there. He likes it very much, so he wears {#blank#}5{#/blank#} jacket to school every day.

Johnny has a very good friend, Alan. From Monday to Friday, they always go to school together. One day, the two {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (friend) are going to school. Alan asks, "Where is your jacket, John?" "Oh, it's in {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (I) room. I just don't want to wear it today." Alan asks, "Why? Your jacket looks very nice." John says, "A button of my jacket is lost. My mother can't{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (find) the same one in the shop. Do you have any ideas?" "How about {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(change) all the buttons on the jacket?" says Alan. "Sounds great," says John. He tells his mother and now he is looking forward {#blank#}10{#/blank#} wearing the white jacket the next day.

Jamie Oliver is one of the Britain's most talented and successful chefs(厨师). He has always had a passion for food and cooking. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} This is where he learned much of what he knows today. However it wasn't until later, while working at the well-known River Cafe, that he was discovered by people working in television. At just 21, Jamie became famous with his first series television programs that have been shown all over the world. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} A lot for someone so young to achieve!

As his success grew, Jamie needed a new challenge. He wanted to"give something back"to the cooking business. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} Many of the young people who came to work there hadn't done so well at school or had problems finding work, so this was like a second chance for them.TARGETING SCHOOL FOOD

Realizing that he could create real, positive change through food and cooking, Jamie turned his attention to the food given to British children at school. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} He knew things needed to change. Understanding the power of television, Jamie based himself in a school cafeteria and proved that with hard work, change was possible. Jamie'sSchoolDinnerswas again shown all over the world.

GETTING BACK TO BASICS

Jamie also decided to make a difference in people's homes. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} In 2010, he also developed a new qualification(资格),"Jamie's Home Cooking Skills", which is offered in high schools around the UK and teaches children practical cooking skills and basic food knowledge.

"Tom? Are you in bed yet?" called Mrs White. There was no answer. Mrs White put down her book and went to her 14-year-old sons room. Tom was sitting in front of a bright computer screen on which a motorbike was running fast.

"Oh, Tom. You're still playing that computer game. You must stop now, because it's half past eleven. If you don't go to bed at once, you'll be very tired tomorrow." said Mrs White.

"But I've nearly won the game." Tom said to Mrs White. She could see the excitement on his face. she sat beside him and said, "You're always playing on the computer. You spend more time on this machine than on your homework."

Today more and more families have computers. Parents hope computers can help their children improve their study at school. But many of their children use computers to play games, listen to songs and watch videos instead of studying. We often see that net bars are crowded with people, especially young boys. They spend a lot of time and money competing(竞争) with the computerized(用计算机控制的) machines. The more they lose, the more they want to win. The result is that they don't want to work or study.

In some countries, even scientists hate computers. They say computers cause millions of bring them a lot of trouble. Computer game addiction(瘾) is a serious problem in social life. Something should be done to solve the problem.

Like most parents, mine spent much time advising me to take part in activities outside school. However, they never forced me, and I never found anything I was interested in. Then one day a friend at school told me about a local dance group and asked if I wanted to go with her. So, after school we went to talk to the dance teacher. She explained everything to us and we both decided to join.

My parents were really pleased to hear I'd finally chosen dancing. They think if you develop an interest in doing something yourself, it will be easier to succeed.

I' ve now been attending the dancing classes for 3 years and I really enjoy it. We are organized into age groups, and at 16 I'm now in the oldest class. There are classes of swing dance, ballet(芭蕾舞), street dance and folk dance. I practice street dance and I'm quite good at it. I also help out leading some of the younger children.

We also take part in events like local and even national dance shows, and relatives turn up to see their children perform. My parents are proud of me as they tell me all the time.

Now I' ll be too old to continue dancing with the group. However, I have already made plans to continue with them. The dance school has become very successful and is opening new classes. The director has asked if I'd like to be one of the group leaders and of course I said" yes"!

At the corner of Jan Smuts Street in Durban, six women meet every day, waiting for a truck to come and get the cardboard (纸板) they have collected.

Every morning Chitha leaves her house at 5 a. m. to collect cardboard. She has been doing this for the past 12 years. She says her dream is to see her children go to college. Then she found this job.

" It's dirty and people look down on us. We only make about R3, 400 a month. However, this is a ticket for us to send our children to college." Chitha said with a big smile. She added that she found great joy knowing her daughter is in college.

" We have a slogan(口号) —— Keep on going and never give up." Chitha continued." We don't just sit here waiting for the truck to come. We also talk about life, give advice about problems and help each other. We are a family here."

" We are all single mothers and have to make money to raise our children. I'm collecting this dirty cardboard for my three children to have a brighter future. I will continue until the last one also goes to college."

Chitha's daughter Naledi is now in her second year at a college. She said with tears in her eyes," Mom is doing all she can to survive (生存). I admire her for that."
