Do you like going to a zoo to see animals? How about buying a zoo and giving food to the animals yourself? It's not a joke. It happened both in a film and in the real world.

Benjamin Mee is a newspaper writer in Los Angeles, USA. His wife dies and he has to look after his two young kids on his own. Hoping for a fresh start for his family, Mee gives up his job and buys an old house about 73,000 square metres outside the city. The land comes with a special gift: a zoo in the country called the Rosemoor Animal Park.

The zoo closed because of that economy crisis (经济危机) .With zookeepers raising them, about 200 animals are still living there. The Mee family decide to reopen the zoo. But it's not an easy job since they have no experience and little money. There are also unexpected problems, such as a bear running away one day.

This is the story of American movie We Bought a Zoo. It tells the real amazing story of Benjamin Mee.

He was struggling(费劲) to tie his shoes. I was struggling with whether I should help him.
I did, and he was grateful.
“Thank you,” he said.
“I' m glad I could help. I just thought it would be easier for me to reach,” I said.

   Jackie Chan was born on April 7, 1954, in Hong Kong, China. His parents left mainland China for Hong Kong a short time before he was born. His parents named him “Chan Kong-sang”, which means “born in Hong Kong”. They wanted to celebrate a safe trip to Hong Kong.
   At first, Jackie's family lived in the French Embassy(大使馆).His father was a cook, and his mother was a housekeeper. When Jackie was seven years old, his family moved to Australia. His father got a job in the American Embassy. Later, back in Hong Kong, Jackie's father sent him to the China Drama Academy. Jackie studied and worked 19 hours a day. The students practiced Kong Fu and learned how to do many stunts(特技表演)there.
   When Jackie was 17, he began to do dangerous stunts for films. In the early 1980s, Jackie went to Hollywood, but he wasn't very successful. He went on to make films in Hong Kong and had great success. Finally, in 1995,Jackie Chan became famous in the United States. Today, Jackie Chan has both Chinese and American fans and his films make millions of dollars.

Martin Strel is a swimmer, best known for swimming the world's big rivers. He was born in 1954. He taught himself to swim when he was six and became a professional (职业的) swimmer in 1978. Martin holds Guinness World Records for swimming the Danube River, the Mississippi River, the Yangtze River and the Amazon River.

Of all his achievements, the greatest is his Amazon River swim. The Amazon is known as the largest and most dangerous river in the world. Several swimmers had tried to swim it, but all failed. Martin decided to go all out and make history. He wanted to show the world that people could achieve their dreams with hard work and perseverance (毅力). On April 7th, 2007, Martin Strel completed his Amazon River all the way from Atalaya (Peru) to the Atlantic Ocean at Belem (Brazil). He struggled (奋战) with the river for 66 days and swam 3, 274 miles in total. He became a worldwide hero.

Many people still cannot believe what he has done so far, so that is why they sometimes describe him as "Fishman", "Human Fish" or even "the Craziest Man in the World".

In 2009, American filmmakers produced a documentary (纪录片) called Big River Man. And the book, The Man Who Swam the Amazon, has been sold in many countries. It tells us an inspirational story of perseverance and hard work, which has encouraged many people.

Martin doesn't swim for money. Instead, he swims to teach people about the importance of keeping water clean.
