Saturday is Library Day for Tina's family. On this day, Mom always takes Tina to the library in the morning. First, Tina1 her favorite book. Next, she sits (坐) on her favorite yellow2 to read (阅读) the book.

Now Tina is in the3 with her favorite books. She wants to sit on the yellow chair,4 a girl is on it now. "You can sit on the chair next to it," Mom says to Tina. Tina isn't5 because that's a blue chair. "I must sit on the yellow chair on Library Day. I6 love it," Tina says to Mom.

"I know you like the yellow chair," Mom says. "But it's not7 ."

Then Tina8 the blue chair and sits on it to read books. The books are so9 and Tina reads them there all the morning. When it's 11:50 a. m, Tina says to Mom, "Now I10 Library Day is about reading good books, not about the chair. I like Library Day!"

I haven't seen my teacher Mr. Jenkins since I finished school, but I often think about him. I wasn't good at most school {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. The only thing that I could remember is where the rain comes from! However, when I was 15 and went in Mr. Jenkins' class, everything changed. 

Before I {#blank#}2{#/blank#} by Mr. Jenkins, science had simply been a subject full of strange words to me. I didn't know what CO2 was and I didn't really want to know, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. I found it so boring and difficult, but Mr. Jenkins made everything interesting. He used to teach things {#blank#}4{#/blank#} seemed difficult with lots of examples and in simple language. One day, he even took us outside and built a rocket! I remember that he let us {#blank#}5{#/blank#} some fuel（燃料）into the rocket, and then another student lit a match to set {#blank#}6{#/blank#} off. It was great fun. 

I know that I wasn't smart, {#blank#}7{#/blank#} Mr. Jenkins made me feel that I had my own strengths. Then, I became {#blank#}8{#/blank#} active student in learning new things. I was {#blank#}9{#/blank#} in the study of the stars and planets and he asked me to give a report to the class. Now I take a job as a science teacher {#blank#}10{#/blank#} Mr. Jenkins.

A man lived happily in a village because everyone praised him.

One day, he happened to hear some people talking about him.1 what they said made him sad. They said he was too proud. From then on, whenever he heard others2 , he thought they were saying something bad about him. He was 3 all the time. His wife noticed this and took him to a wise old man.

The train started moving. It was packed with people of all ages. Most of them were working men and women and young college boys and girls. Near the window sat an old man with his son, who looked about thirty years old. 

As the train moved, the son was filled with joy because he was very excited at the scenery(景色) outside. He said in a high voice, " See Dad, the green trees and the scenery are very beautiful!" It made the other people feel very strange. Everyone started talking in a low voice about the old man's son. Suddenly, it started raining. Raindrops fell on the travelers through the opened window. 

Seeing the rain, the old man's son said happily, " See Dad, how beautiful the rain is!" Hearing these words, a young lady became angry with the man, as the raindrops were dropping on her new clothes. She couldn't help shouting at the noisy son and his father. 

" Can't you see it is raining? You ! Old man! If your son is not feeling well, get him to a mental hospital (精神病院) quickly and please don't disturb(干扰) us any more!" The old man's face turned slightly red and then in a low voice, he replied, " We are on the way back from hospital. He was blind at birth. Only last week he can see again. The rain and the nature are new to him. Please forgive him. " All the other people became quiet. 

When it comes to Chinese paper-cutting, many think of typical works like the Chinese characters Fu, meaning luck, or xi, meaning happiness. To change those stereotypes(固有印象) and make paper-cutting more creative, Ye Kaiyuan, a paper-cutting artist from Zhangzhou, Fujian Province, worked many years to make the traditional art more modern and fashionable.

 As a child, Ye would draw and cut. He even won second place in a national competition. In the summer of 2012, he held his first show of his own paper-cuttings. It turned out to be a great success.

 In the traditional way to the skill, cutting comes first, then dyeing(染色). But Ye tries to dye first and then cut. "This means you will not know the final color of your work, which is interesting," he said.

 For Ye, the lines in each paper-cutting are an expression of feelings. He always carries notebooks to write down his ideas. The idea for his work called A Picture of Two Fish came when he saw salted fish at a store. Other inspirations(灵感) come from his observation(观察) of things such as fruit and visits to different places.

 The creative process is slow. It took Ye two weeks to draw and make Farewell My Concubine(《霸王别姬》). He did not cut two of the characters in this story. Instead, he used flowers and curves(曲线) to represent Yu Ji — the heroine of the story.
