In a temple, a little monk（和尚） was complaining（抱怨） to an old monk, "Master, no matter what I do, why do I always meet with more difficulties than others and pay more? Please tell me, am I born with this kind of 1 life?"

The old monk led the little monk to the 2 field outside the temple. They saw that a little road 3 the field into two. In both of the pieces, some carrots were grown. The old monk told him that the carrots were planted at different times. The carrots in one piece were planted 4 than those in the other piece.

The old monk asked the little monk to pull up a carrot from the first field. The little monk did it 5 . However, the carrot was very small.

Then the old monk asked the little monk to pull up another carrot from the other field. The little monk did it with some 6 this time. At last, he pulled the carrot up with hard work. They could see clearly that the carrot had grown very long and 7 .

The old monk 8 the two carrots on the ground, and said to the little monk, "So you can see now. When you use the energy for pulling up the carrots differently, what you get is 9 . This is like the difficulties you meet with in life. You pay more, but what you 10 will also be greater and more. So don't just complain about your difficulties, but also see what you can get from getting over them."

The ancient Chinese educator Confucius (孔子) often traveled through all the stales, teaching. 

One day, he took his carriage (四轮马车) and went out on one of these journeys. Seeing a child in the middle of the road, he asked the driver to stop. Confucius said to the child, "Could you please give way to my carriage?" The child didn't answer. Confucius asked again and the child pointed at a small castle (城堡) made of mud (泥) on his own behind himself, saying, "Can't you see that there is a castle here? I only heard of carriages going around castles. I've never heard of castles giving way to traffic." Confucius was really surprised and said, "At such a young age, you seem to know quite a lot."

The child raised his head and looked directly at Confucius. He said, "I heard fish can swim as soon as they are born. Rabbits can run on the third day after birth. You see, age doesn't make a difference." Hearing this, Confucius felt the child's words were right and said, "Oh, young people today are really fantastic." Then he asked the carriage driver to go around the child's castle. 

Later, people use "Hou Sheng Ke Wei" to mean that young people should be considered with respect (尊重) because they are full of new and creative ideas. Sometimes they will often be better than the old.

Taiyuan Luogu is a national intangible cultural heritage(国家级非物质文化遗产) with a history of around 1,000 years. It's widely used in weddings (婚礼) and at traditional {#blank#}1{#/blank#}to bring good luck.

Taiyuan Luog u is popular in the countryside. Many {#blank#}2{#/blank#}people are good at it. A woman named Niu Gaixian in Xiaozhanying Village in Taiyuan is one of them. Now she's a city- level inheritor(市级传承人) of this form of art. Every time she and her team members have their Taiyuan Luog u shows, the village will soon become {#blank#}3{#/blank#}.

In 1990, Niu met Han Qixiang, a national- level inheritor of Taiyuan Luogu, {#blank#}4{#/blank#}became his student. Since then, practicing playing Taiyuan Luog u has become part of {#blank#}5{#/blank#}everyday life.

" Mr. Han had a great influence{#blank#}6{#/blank#} me. He asked me to learn more about traditional culture, not only of Shanxi, but also across the country," said Niu Gaixian.

In 2003, Niu Gaixian set up her own Taiyuan Luog u team. To avoid {#blank#}7{#/blank#}mistakes while they are giving performances, she and her team members practice again and again. They always practice {#blank#}8{#/blank#} even in the hot summer.

In April 2018, Niu Gaixian and her team were invited to join in an international drum culture festival in Africa. After they{#blank#}9{#/blank#} their performances, they were cheered by the crowd.

Niu Gaixian hopes that more and more people can {#blank#}10{#/blank#}about this kind of traditional art.

A young couple decided to go camping in the mountains to celebrate their first year of marriage. They took with them all the things they would need to go camping—warm clothes, food and a tent. 

They went up to the mountains and found the perfect place to set up their tent. After that, they decided to go for a hike(远足) to see more of the mountains. 

After a long hike, they went back to their camp, built a fire and cooked dinner. Finally, it was time to go to sleep. 

Sometime in the middle of the night, the wife woke her husband up and said, " Look up at the sky. What do you see?"

Her husband answered, "I see millions of stars. "

His wife said, " That's right. What does that mean to you?"

The husband said, " Well, if there are so many stars out there, that means there might also be a planet just like the planet we live on. And if that's true, then there could be life on one of those planets. That's kind of exciting!"
