Welcome to Hong Kong! Here is some information that can help you know the city very well.
Kong lies in the southeastern part of China. She returned to our motherland in 1997. If you go to Hong Kong by air, you will arrive at Kai Tak Airport, because there was not enough land. This airport was built out into the sea. It is in the part of Hong Kong called Kowloon. Kowloon is one of the two big cities in Hong Kong. The other city is Hong Kong itself. It is on an island. You can get there by ship or through a tunnel under the sea. Much of Hong Kong is farmland and mountains.
The population(人口) of Hong Kong is over six million. People from all over the world travel to Hong Kong every year. You can watch horse racing or motor racing. Some places are quiet and beautiful. When you are hot and tired, there are small cool gardens to rest in. There are also a lot of buildings to live in. Hong Kong is also a good place for Chinese food. You can enjoy many kinds of cooking. For example, fish, meat and vegetables. Beijing duck is famous. There is certainly a lot to see and to do in Hong Kong.
What is a hurricane?(飓风)
You may already know that hurricanes are storms that can cause devastating(毁灭性的) waves, wind, and rain. They happen during “Hurricane Season,'' from June 1st until November 30th in the Atlantic Ocean and from May 15th until November 30th in the Pacific Ocean.
Categories(类别)of Hurricanes
There are five categories of hurricanes, which are based on wind speeds. The categories help people know how much damage(危害) a hurricane may cause because the greater the wind speed, the more dangerous the storm. For example, a Category 5 hurricane has winds over 155 miles per hour, which are strong enough to break the buildings along the seaside completely.
Hurricane Dangers
When a hurricane happens together with heavy rainfall（降雨）, there can be a devastating flood. The centre of a hurricane is called the eye. While most of a hurricane has dangerously strong winds, the eye in fact is a calm area in the storm. When the eye of a hurricane passes over land, people might think that it's over, but before long the wind and rain increase(增长) again as the second part of the hurricane moves through.
Hurricane Safety Tips
There is no way to stop a hurricane or make it change direction, so if you ever find yourself in the path of a hurricane, be sure to stay inside during the storm. You could be seriously injured(受伤) if you go outside.

A. Don't throw your old bottles here and there. In our park you have to put them into the dustbins(垃圾桶) around you. Maybe someone else needs it. Don't throw it into the dustbin. D. In our waste collecting shop, you can sell all the things you don't need, such as old newspapers, paper bags and bottles. We will offer you a very high price for your old things. E. The batteries can do great harm to the earth where you throw them. They will pollute the earth for a long time. So, don't throw your old batteries everywhere. Just put them into a certain dustbin which has the best way to deal with them. F. This dustbin is set here for the visitors to throw their waste, especially something that can be recycled. Batteries and something like them are not allowed to throw here. G. We are the students in the poor area in China. Now it is cold winter. We don't have enough clothes to keep us warm. If you have any clothes you don't need, please send them to us.
