To many people, art is a human expression of creativity. But in recent years, you may have read news about artificial intelligence (AI) creating its own art, such as painting or writing poems. Some people worry that AI might someday replace (替代) artists.

But this worry seems to be unnecessary, at least for now. Many artists today are turning AI into a useful tool. Instead of replacing artists, AI is bringing artists more possibilities.

A piece of music created by AI recently attracted attention. AI was used to create the music based on the protein (蛋白质) structure of COVID-19. The music lasted nearly two hours. The project was led by Markus Buehler, an American musician and MIT professor (教授) of engineering. He assigned (指定) a unique note (独特的音符) to each amino acid (氨基酸) is the protein. The AI then translated these notes into music.

Listeners found the project "mind-blowing". "It allows me to see the virus in a new way," said one listener. This surprising combination (结合) between science and art could not be achieved without AI. As The Verge wrote, "AI helps artists play around in unpredictable ways, creating things beyond (超过) what they have ever thought was possible before."

Apart from creating imaginative works, AI can also take care of repetitive (重复乏味的) tasks for artists. For example, in the comic and cartoon industries, there are now AI tools that can automatically (自动) color in black-and-white line drawings. Although the results can be unpredictable and require a little cleanup. it can give artists room to experiment (实验) by cutting down the time it takes to color each picture.

As Peter Ward wrote for The Culture Trip. "Art of every kind has always been influenced by technological developments." AI can become a useful tool to bring change to the art world if it's welcomed and not unfairly feared.

①AI(artificial intelligence 人工智能) and machine learning refer to the ability of machines to learn and act intelligently.It means they can make decisions,finish tasks,and even tell the possible future results based on what they learn from data (数据).

②AI and machine learning already play a bigger role in everyday life than you might imagine.Health care,banking,video games,every search on the Internet you make...,all are driven by AI.

③AI is going to change almost every field of modern life.Stephen Hawking said,"Success in creating AI would be the biggest event in human history."And Hawking added at once,"Unluckily,it might also be the last,unless we learn how to avoid the risks."

▲  , especially when you consider some countries are racing to develop AI—enabled autonomous weapons(人工智能自主武器).It is also going to change and take the place of many human jobs.The same worries also come from the public.According to the survey result from Centre for the Governance of AI,91%of the people (tend to and totally) agree that "AI is a technology that requires careful management" in Europe.

⑤But rather than agreeing with an idea of a helpless future where all human jobs are given over to robots.some people believe AI will make on working lives better.It will improve the work of humans,and new jobs will appear to take the place of the old ones.

⑥What's more,machines become more intelligent and they are able to finish more human tasks.Things which only belong to humans like creativity and critical (批判性的) thinking,will become even more valuable in the future.

⑦Like it or not,AI is here.Maybe changing ourselves and managing it well are the best way out .Just as Benjamin Franklin once said,"When you're finished changing,you're finished."

When you're not at home, many worries may come to your mind. Did I turn the light off? Did I lock (锁) the door? With a smart home, you can keep away from all of these worries in the future.

A smart home is a home with a network(网络).The network connects(连接)with lights and TV sets, so that people connect them from far away by lines, mobile phone or WiFi over the Internet.

More and more people may want to have a smart home, because it makes life much more convenient. It can help keep your room at a certain temperature. It can record what happens inside your home and send the video to your phone. When you are on holiday in other countries, you can use a smart home controller to turn on or off the electricity when necessary. Some smart homes can receive a visitor, make him come in and service him a drink. They can even feed the cat and water the plants.

Besides, smart homes are easy to fix. When a problem happens, you can deal with it yourself. However, for home-users, the smart home is not perfect. It can be rather expensive to have it. Also, because the smart home system (系统)makes its owner to get home information from anywhere, hackers(黑客)may enter into the smart home easily, and they may use or change their information in the system. Now, many people are excited at the future of the smart home.

There are others who worry that the smart home will make people lazier and lonelier. But anyway, one thing is for sure--the smart home will change the way we live and work.

 阅读下列材料,从每题所给的A、B、C三个选项中选出最佳选项。

Automated(自动化的) kitchens aren't only in shows like Star Trek. Now, robots can cook chicken, make pizzas and salads. AI can create recipes (食谱) depending on what's in the kitchen. More plans are being made to automate great dining kitchens.

At first, technology is often expensive, so restaurants and other businesses use AI kitchen technologies first. Later on, the prices might drop enough for people to use at home. This could change how homes and society work.

The good things about AI kitchens are that cooks don't have to do boring tasks like peeling potatoes or standing at a work area for a long time. This gives them time to do more important things. For people who want personalized food, AI can meet different special diets and tastes.

But there are also risks. Cooking is a good activity that helps with communicating and expressing oneself. But if humans aren't needed in kitchens anymore, these benefits might disappear. Family relationships might not be good without a kitchen where people work together.

Also, the kitchen is like a science lab at home. It's important for science education. Cooking helps kids learn about materials, chemistry and problem- solving.

We also need to think about cultural risks. For example, AI might mess up traditional recipes and methods. It might make cultural details(细节) seem the same or too simple. This could mean that AI and robot cooks make fewer different dishes. If we depend too much on technology to make food, there might not be much variety(多样化) in taste. It's like how AI art pictures on different apps seem similar.

Convenience can have a high cost. So it's important to think about the possible social problems that new technologies might bring, especially in areas like food that are important to our daily lives.

 阅读短文,从每小题所给的四个选项中,选出能回答所提问题或完成所给句子的最佳答案

Facial-recognition cameras are everywhere — even in your smartphone. Many people use this technology to unlock their phones, open doors, or make quick payments. But there is a problem during the epidemic(流行病): everyone wears masks. What a headache!

Scientists are trying to solve this problem. For example, E&T Magazine reports that Hanvon, a tech company in Beijing, has made a new system. It can recognize(辨认) over 95% of people when they wear masks.

What's the secret? It's all about your eyes. Marios Savvides from Carnegie Mellon University studies facial-recognition. As we get older, he says, our faces change shape. But the area around our eyes stays almost the same — even if we put on weight. As long as there are enough data from the area of our eyes, the cameras can recognize us.

TECH5 is another facial-recognition company. The Swiss company's products scan(扫描) the shape of your face. They also scan your irises, which are the colored parts of your eyes. TECH5 hopes to ignore(忽略) all of the face below the nose.

This kind of software has a more important use than just unlocking your phone. "It can discover criminals, even when they wear masks, " said Huang Lei from Hanvon. Hanvon's technology is used by Chinese police in places like subway stations and airports. Similar technology is used by the United States Air Force.

Huang pointed out one big weakness: it fails when people wear both a mask and sunglasses. "In this situation, all of the key facial information is lost, " Huang said.
