My friend Bobby worked in a restaurant two years ago and he didn't make much money. He had a big family to support(养), so they could only spend money on very essential(必要的)things {#blank#}1{#/blank#} food, clothes and houses. But last summer vacation, Bobby wanted to take his kids to watch a very popular show in the theater(剧院), {#blank#}2{#/blank#} kids these days always talked about it. He knew his kids wanted to see it very much, too.

Bobby looked at his sons and answered, "This one is 3 years old and his big brother is 7 years old, so I think I need to {#blank#}4{#/blank#} 9 dollars for you."

The woman looked surprised and said, "Hey, did you just win a lottery (中奖) or something? I don't know how old your kids are. You can just say that one is 3 and the o{#blank#}5{#/blank#}is 6. After all, I can't see the {#blank#}6{#/blank#} between 6-year-olds and 7-year-olds, and you can save 3 dollars."

Bobby said, "Yes, I can tell you that they are both under the age of 6, but the kids know that they are not the {#blank#}7{#/blank#} age as I told you. As their father, it's my job to set a good example (榜样)for them. In that {#blank#}8{#/blank#}, they can grow up to be a good and honest (诚实的) person.

Many people dream of going on a great travel. Most of us keep dreaming; others make it happen.

Gregg Bleakney's dream was to travel the Americas from top to bottom (底部). He got the idea after he finished a 1,600-kilometer bike ride. Gregg's friend Brooks Allen was also a cyclist. The two friends talked and made a plan: They would travel from Alaska (阿拉斯加) to Argentina (阿根廷) by bike.

To pay for the trip, Gregg and Brooks worked and saved money for years. In 2005, after four years of planning, they set off. Once they were on the road, they often camped outdoors or stayed in hostels (青年旅社). In many places, local (当地的) people opened their homes to the two friends and gave them food.

In May 2007-two years, 12 countries, and over 30,500 km later-Gregg finally reached Argentina, at the southern tip of South America. Halfway through the trip, Brooks had to stop. He returned to the United States and Gregg continued (继续) without him.

Gregg and Brooks kept a record (记录) of their travel in an online blog. The trip taught both men a lot about traveling. Here is some of Gregg's advice.

. The fewer bags you have, the less you'll worry about.

. Don't plan everything. You'll be more relaxed and happy.

. Be polite (礼貌的). Nobody wants to fight with a nice guy.
