Tony is a new member (成员) of the Reading Club. He makes some new friends in the club.

One day,Jack drove his new car very happily down a street. Suddenly from his car came a terrible sound. He felt1 ,so he stopped his car and looked around. A child2 beside his car with a few stones in his hand. He jumped out of the car and found a dent(凹痕) in the door. He was so angry that he caught3 child and shouted at him,"Who are you? Why did you hit my new car4 a stone?"

"Please , sir , please ... I am sorry! But I didn't know 5 else to do," said the child. "I threw the stone because I wanted you6 me. I need your help!" Tears ran down the7 face. He said,"My brother fell out of his wheelchair and was almost under it. He is hurt but I can do nothing8 he is too heavy for me. Could you give me a hand to get him back into his wheelchair?"

After hearing this,Jack hurried to help. He lifted(抬起)the child's brother gently back into his wheelchair. He looked over the boy9 to make sure that he was OK. Then he watched the child push his brother towards10 home. Suddenly the child turned around and bowed(鞠躬) to Jack. Jack felt pleased and excited. He looked at the dent in his car and smiled.

I am a big reader. I enjoy being home alone and reading my books. I can finish a book so fast that I have to keep finding new books. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} I can't buy too many books even if I use a whole year's pocket money（零花钱）.

How can I get as many books as possible with my pocket money? {#blank#}2{#/blank#} I would like to try my luck there, too. Every Saturday morning, I go on a book shopping trip. I take the bus to the biggest second-hand shop in my city and look through all their books. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} My hands are never empty when I go back home. I love picture books and there are lots of them. The paperback（平装书）is only one dollar each. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} Every time I spend all the money I have.

{#blank#}5{#/blank#} I can't live without them. They take me to new places and teach me new things. I always talk about books with my friends. We tell each other what we're reading and share our thoughts. This makes reading really fun.

Once I got lost in the forest with my father. The sky got dark and we were worried，for it was our first time walking into that forest.

We didn't have any tools to show us the direction. My father and I had no choice but to put up a tent near a river to spend the night. When night fell, the stars came out, lighting the whole sky. That was when an idea came to my mind. As a member of the Astronomy (天文学) Club in school, I was able to tell different groups of stars in the sky. If we could find the North Star, we could find out which direction was north.

After I picked out the North Star, we found the north direction. We walked north and then saw a house. We went to the owner of the house to ask for directions. With his help, we made our way out of the forest. From this experience, I learned how important it is to use the knowledge that we have got to solve the problems we meet.

Hello! My name is Alan. I'm happy to show you something about my family. I have a loving family of five people. They're my parents, my sister, my brother and me. We are all different. But we have a lot of {#blank#}1{#/blank#} together. 

 My father is from Beijing. He is {#blank#}2{#/blank#} handsome man. He is not tall or short. He {#blank#}3{#/blank#} in a big restaurant. He does the cooking very well. He also has many {#blank#}4{#/blank#} , such as listening to music and playing sports. My mother {#blank#}5{#/blank#} from London. She has long blond hair. She often wears a pink dress. She looks {#blank#}6{#/blank#} . She is a nurse. She works in a {#blank#}7{#/blank#} near my school. A lot of people like her {#blank#}8{#/blank#} she is kind to others. I have a sister. She is four years old. Like my mother, She has blond hair too. I like to play {#blank#}9{#/blank#} her in my free time. All of us {#blank#}10{#/blank#} like her. 

 This is my family. Home makes me feel warm. We love and help each other. 

 It just hadn't been a very good week. On Tuesday, Sam's father lost his job. Then on Wednesday, Sam mother got to know the cost of their apartment(公寓) was going up. Now it was Friday, and Sam receive( an invitation from Rosa to her birthday party.

 Sam knew Rosa from Adventure Club. He knew he would enjoy Rosa's party, but he didn't want to g without a gift. What could he possibly buy her with the little bit of money he had? Sam knew he couldn ask Mom or Dad for any money— not this week!

 Later that afternoon, Sam noticed a second-hand book sale going on. He went there and had a quic look. Two books caught his eye, The first was a cookbook of Puerto Rican foods, and the second was book about women explorers(探险者)"Rosa would like these," Sam thought, "but would it be ashamed to give her second-hand books for her birthday?"

 Sam decided that a second-hand gift was better than no gift at all. Besides, Rosa supported recycling in a big way. So, she would probably like it. With his last dollar, Sam bought the books and went home. He felt a little better.

 The party was on Saturday. Rosa opened all her gifts and thanked everyone for the nice things they had given her. She paused when she opened Sam's gift, which made him wonder if she liked the books, but nothing was said.

 When Sam got home, he opened his e-mail and found this note from Rosa.

Dear Sam,

Of all the gifts I received today, yours was the nicest. How did you know I would love a book about women explorers and a cookbook of Puerto Rican foods? Now I have something to read that will inspire me to follow my dream of becoming an adventurer, and I have a book that I can share with my grandmother. She is getting older and wants to be sure her granddaughter knows how to make the - wonderful foods of Puerto Rico. Thank you so much.
