Travelling is a very good activity. When you get tired of your work or study, and when you have free time, you can go to a beautiful place to enjoy the beauty(美丽) of nature(大自然) or other cities. You can take in fresh air, meet different people and make friends with them. It's good for your health to do so.

    But sometimes, travelling is not an enjoyable thing. For example, the weather can be changeable. There may be rain when you travel. You may catch a cold or be ill while travelling. The worst(最糟糕的) thing is that the thieves may steal(偷) your money. All these may happen to a traveler.

When you go on a trip, you must get everything ready. Firstly, you must have clear information about the weather. Secondly, ask a friend to go with you so that you can help each other.     In May 2001, I found a job in New York at the World Trade Center. On September 11, 2001, I arrived at my building at around 8:30 a.m. I was about to go up when I decided to get a coffee first. I went to my favorite coffee place even though it was two blocks east from my office. As I was waiting in line with other officer workers, I heard a loud sound. Before I could join the others outside to see what was going on, the first plane had already hit my office building. We stared in disbelief at the black smoke rising above the burning building. I felt lucky to be alive.

    When Ana Dodson was 11 years old, she travelled to Peru. She went on more than just a vacation. She was visiting her native country.

    Ana was born in Peru, but she was adopted(领养)by an American family and grew up in the USA. While in Peru, Ana wanted to know what her life could have been like if she had not been adopted. She visited several orphanages, including one in the hills of Cuzco, near her birthplace.

    "The orphanage was really cold and dry," Ana said. "The paint was falling off. The girls were in poor health."

    When Ana returned home, she kept thinking of the orphanage in Cuzco." I really couldn't get the girls out of my mind, and I really wanted to do something because I could have been one of those girls in that orphanage."

    Ana decided to start a group called Peruvian Hearts to help. Her goal was to improve orphans' living conditions. In the first two years, Peruvian Hearts raised about $18, 000 for the orphanage. The group also bought a chicken coop(鸡舍)so the girls can eat fresh eggs.

    Ana's efforts have been noticed. She won a Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes. The prize is given to kids who make a difference. Ana says any kid can do what she did. "Really believe in yourself, and follow your heart, "she says.

    A good book can help you learn more things than you can learn in class. If you want to get into a good reading habit, here are a few ways.

    Plan your time

    You should give yourself at least thirty minutes for reading every day. When time is set, nothing can change it.

    Always carry a book

    Wherever you go, take a book with you. When you leave the house, make sure that you always carry a good book as well as your school things.

    Find a quiet place

    Find a place in your home where you can read a book quietly and no one will trouble you. There should be no television, computer, music or even noisy family members around you.

    Where did you go this summer vacation? Perhaps you have visited some top universities. If so, you are not alone.

    This summer vacation, thousands of people from across the country traveled to famous universities like Tsinghua University, Peking University and Fudan University. For example, about 6,000 visitors visited Tsinghua University every day on vacation. Most of them were junior high school students and senior high school students with their parents.  With more and more people coming to these universities, it usually took many hours to enter them.

    "Tsinghua University opens to the visitors at 8:30 am." a guard (保安) told China Daily. "However, many people start to wait in line at3 to 4 am. If people come at 6 o'clock, it may be too late and they can only enter in the afternoon.

    "University tourism" is popular because of the long histories and special cultures of these famous universities. Also, many parents hope their children can learn something more from the trip and study harder after that.

    "I brought my son here as soon as I finished my job," Mrs. Zhang, a mother of a 14-year-old boy, told China Daily. "And I hope my son will go into a top university in the future."
