Foods that are well known to you may not be familiar to people from different places around the world. Tourists and travelers often get to try some unfamiliar food. That is part of the fun of traveling. Here are four people's experiences with foreign food.

David King is a Chinese student in Italy. "I never had cheese or even milk before came to Italy. Cows are seldom seen in my part of China. So there is no milk or milk products. I drank some milk when I first arrived in Italy. I hated it! I tried cheese, too, but didn't like it. I love ice cream, though that's made from milk."

Birgit is from Sweden. She traveled to Australia on vacation. "I was in a restaurant that was special in fish. I heard some other people order flake, so I ordered some, too. It was delicious! Later, I learned that flake is an Australian name for shark. Now, whenever I see a new food, I try it on purpose. You know why? I remember how much I enjoyed flake."

Chandra is a dentist in Texas. She is from India. "I'm afraid to try new foods because maybe there is beef in them. I'm a Hindu (印度教信徒) and my religion (信仰) stops me from eating meat from the cow. That's why I can't eat hamburgers or noodles with meatballs."

Nathan is from the United States. He taught for a year in China. "My friend gave me some 100-year-old eggs to eat. I didn't like their appearance at all. The eggs were green inside, but my friends said the colour was normal. Chinese people put something on fresh eggs. Then they put them in the earth for three months. Stanford is a world-famous university on the west coast of the US. It was built by Stanford and his wife in memory of their only son who died of a strange disease.

Tourists are often surprised at the beauty of Stanford. Among the green trees, buildings with yellow walls and red tops make up a beautiful picture.

Many tourists wonder why yellow and red were chosen. That's because they were the favorites of Mrs. Stanford.

The Big Church is the most important building in Stanford. It stands at the center. It was built by Mrs. Stanford to remember her husband who devoted(贡献 ) himself to the university. There, students and teachers can hold great activities, such as concerts and celebrations.

The tallest building in Stanford is Hoover Tower, which is the landmark of the university. A man named Hoover had done a lot for the university. The things he once used can be seen on the first floor. On the top of the tower,tourists can have a good look at the whole campus(校园).

As one of the world top universities, Stanford has many subjects that stand among the top ones in the world. And computer science has been the first for many years. If you want to study computer science in a university abroad,maybe it is your best choice.

We Chinese people are "the children of the dragon". How much do you know about dragons or "Loong"?

●This year is the Year of the Dragon (Loong).

●Dragons are not real. They are from stories. They can fly and swim.

●The Dragon King is the king of rain.

●There are some traditional( 传 统 的 ) festivals about dragons in China, such as Dragon Head-Raising Day and Dragon Boat Festival. We have different kinds of activities to celebrate them.

Here is an old Chinese story about dragons. A man's name is Lord Ye. He loves dragons very much. He says to everyone, "I really want to see a real dragon." And in his house, the pictures of dragons are on the doors, on the walls and even on his clothes. The Dragon King knows about that. He is very happy. He wants to go to Lord Ye's house and have a look.

One day, Lord Ye is sleeping. A heavy rain comes. The Dragon King comes to the window. He knocks (敲) at the door. Lord Ye is so scared. Lord Ye runs to his bedroom. The Dragon King says, "Is anyone here?" And then, he covers (遮住) his eyes and says no words. Later, the Dragon King goes away. After that, Lord Ye never says he loves dragons.

In our daily life, we are sometimes a "Lord Ye". We say one thing, but we don't do the same thing. Our words are not the same as our action (行为).

There was a park near my home. But I didn't go there very often. Many people said there was nothing special. One afternoon I went into the park and found it was really small. I walked quickly and found myself standing in front of two paths (小径).

"Which way should I go?" I asked myself. I looked at one way, then the other.The left one was wide and clean. There were lots of flowers on both sides of the path. Though the flowers weren't very beautiful, they made me feel good. I decided to take this path. But wait! I looked at the right one. The path didn't look nice. It seemed it had not been cleaned for months. Grass grew every where. For a long time I couldn't make up my mind.

After a while, a strange feeling made me follow the dirty path. It wasn't nice, but I didn't want to give up. At last, I came to the end of the path. Ah! There was a small garden there. It was beautiful, perhaps the most beautiful garden I had ever seen. There were trees, flowers and chairs. I thought it was the nicest part of the park.

Many people told me that there was nothing much to see in the park. Now I'd like to tell them that if they had followed the right way, they would have felt differently. But when I told them about what I had seen in the park, they just smiled at me without saying a word. ____. They couldn't even remember that path because it was so small.

My trip to the park that day made me understand something about life. Don't be afraid to choose a different path. You may get a big surprise!
