Do you know Zhang Jing? She comes from Hangzhou. When she was a middle school student, she clearly knew {#blank#}1{#/blank#} she wanted to be — a diplomat(外交官).

Now Zhang Jing is one of {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(great) interpreters(口译者) in China. In fact, working as an interpreter {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (be) very difficult. You should be good at English. At the same time, you must think fast. Zhang does {#blank#}10{#/blank#} good job as an interpreter, and it helps her win a lot of fans in China.

On a small hill in Huaping, Yunnan, there is a small school. However，over the past 15 years，it has rewritten the fate（命运）of1, 804 poor 1 by sending them to universities. 

Zhang Guimei, now 66, is the headmaster of this school. She began 2 In Huaping-one of China's poorest areas twenty years ago. The teacher wondered why many girls in her class stopped coming to school. After some time, Zhang learned that they were from very poor 3 . These girls were pushed to work or get married（结婚）at a（n）4 age. "We often say that we want every child to have a fair start，" she said. "But these poor girls don't even have a chance（机会）to stand on the 5 line（线）. "

 That cold January night, I was growing sick of my life in San Francisco. There I was walking home at I am in the morning after a tiring practice at the theatre. With opening night only a week away,I was still learning my lines(台词). I was having trouble dealing with my part- time job at the bank and my acting at night at the same time. As I walked, I thought seriously about giving up both acting and San Francisco. City life had become too much for me.

 As I walked down empty streets under tall buildings, I felt very small and cold. I began running, both to keep warm and to keep away any possible robbers(强盗). Very few people were still out except a few sad- looking homeless people under blankets(毯子).

 About a block from my apartment, I heard a sound behind me. I turned quickly, half expecting to see someone with a knife or a gun. The street was empty. All I saw was a shining streetlight. Still, the noise had made me nervous, so I started to run faster. Not until I reached my apartment building and unlocked the door did I realize what the noise had been. It had been my wallet falling to the sidewalk.

 Suddenly I wasn't cold or tired anymore. I ran out of the door and back to where I'd heard the noise. Although I searched the sidewalk anxiously for fifteen minutes, my wallet was nowhere to be found.

 Just as I was about to give up the search, I heard the garbage truck pull up to the sidewalk next to me. When a voice called from the inside," Alisa Camacho?"I thought I was dreaming. How could this man know my name? The door opened, and out jumped a small red- haired man with a cheerful look in his eyes." Is this what you' re looking for?" he asked, holding up a small square shape.

 It was nearly 3 am by the time I got into bed. I wouldn't get much sleep that night, but I had got my wallet back. I also had got back some enjoyment of city life.

It was a fine day. There were four {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (friend) at a restaurant. They were waiting for the fifth friend while they {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(drink) and talking. The fifth one was already 20 minutes late. They wanted to know if he would{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(say) "Sorry" for being late. After another five minutes, he {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(slow) arrived. But he didn't say "Sorry"{#blank#}5{#/blank#} he got there. He only said, "Hey! Thanks for waiting." The others said, "You're welcome." They sat down and started to choose {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(they) food. Life went on and all was fine. 

A researcher, called Maja Jovanovic from Canada, told {#blank#}7{#/blank#} story above in a TED talk. Jovanovic said that sometimes we should say "Thank you" but not "Sorry". For example, when you feel sad about something, you talk {#blank#}8{#/blank#}it with a friend. You can say "Thank you for listening",{#blank#}9{#/blank#} not "Sorry for talking too much". Sometimes, "Thank you" can sound {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(good) than "Sorry". What a great way of speaking it is!

In a nice village, there was a small bakery (面包店). Emma, a young baker, owned this bakery. People in {#blank#}1{#/blank#}village knew her for her kind heart.

 Emma's kind acts {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(not stop) at the bakery. She also organized community events, like picnics in the park, to bring the village's people together. People from all walks of life would go, making new friends and feeling like a true community. 

 Inspired (受启发) by her kind acts, the people in the community began to follow in her footsteps. Some started to serve meals to {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(that) in need. The children in the community, too, helped by making cards {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(bring) cheer to the old and the sick. Emma's good deeds had {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(true) set off a chain reaction (连锁反应) of love and goodwill. Over time, the village became a more caring and closer community.

One evening this May, on my way home my old car broke down. It was 25miles from my home. I wanted to get a ride, but there was no car. It was also hard to take a taxi. I decided to take a bus home. I went to a bus stop nearby.

After a while, a bus came, but it did not go to my town. The bus driver was a young woman. She was kind and she told me which bus I should take. I waited there for about thirty minutes but no bus came. At last a car came to me and a woman came out of the car. She was just the bus driver.

"When I reached the bus station, I got to know that the bus to your town couldn't come, so I returned here. I just can't leave you here," she said. "Get in my car and I will take you back to your home."

"It is a long way," I said.

"Come on. sir." she said. "Let's go."

On the way she told me a story. A few days ago, there wasn't gas in her car. An old man drove her up to a gas station and then back to her car.

When we got to my home, I wanted to give her some money to thank her, but she didn't accept it. "I only want to help others and do something nice for somebody. Pass it along," she said.
