    Many people believe that you lose the ability to learn new languages as you get older. Language experts, however, will tell you that you're never too old to learn a new language. As you get older, it can be more difficult to learn a new language, though.

    Children and adults learn new languages in different ways. For children, language is their life. they study for thousands of hours every year, because they need to learn languages to become part of their communities. Adults, on the other hand, are already part of a language community. Learning a new language means becoming part of another language community, and adults rarely get the chance to practice as much as young children do.

    Moreover, children learning a new language are expected to make mistakes. This gives them freedom when learning to be daring and confident. Adults, however, often feel stressed to be perfect when learning a new language. This can discourage many people and make it even harder to learn a new language.

    When young children learn a new language, they come to see various (各种) languages as a "normal" part of society. This mindset (思维模式) helps them to learn a new language without feeling like they're doing something unusual or "too hard".

    So if you want to learn a new language, go for it! It's never too late to learn a new language. If you're older, it may take more work, but it can be done. If you're a young child, though, now is the time to step out and learn a new language!

Friends are important in our lives. But not all of friends stand the test of time. We spoke about friendships with Marisa Franco, writer of the book How Can You MakeAnd Keep Friends.

{#blank#}1{#/blank#}

Accept changes in life

{#blank#}2{#/blank#} Things just keep coming and going. Franco said: "Nobody really wants the friendship to end, but people get busy and can't keep the friendship any more." It doesn't mean we are not qualified (合格的) friends. Instead, it makes us value what we have at present.

{#blank#}3{#/blank#}

"When being with friends, the relationship will get worse if you keep leaving something unsaid instead of communicating with each other positively (积极地)." Franco said. We might be afraid of having arguments. But if we think about it and talk in peace, it can be a sign that you care enough to fix the friendship.

Allow yourself to feel sad

Normally, when a friendship ends, there is a process of feeling sad. Allow yourself to feel those emotions and be patient with yourself. The way society views friendships may make your sadness last longer. When a friendship ends, you are questioned, "Sorry for your loss, but why are you still in a bad mood?" Then you think "Is it wrong to feel sad?" {#blank#}4{#/blank#} Of course, you are upset, which means you love your friend deeply. "And you can't put a timeline on your sadness. Sadness is just a process of feeling emotion over time." Franco said.

Be kind to yourself along the way

It's important to forgive (原谅) yourself for not getting over the loss of a friendship. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} But don't go into a new friendship feeling afraid. "Your understanding of friendship in your brain isn't just colored by this one experience." Franco said.

A.Make the unsaid said.

B.Losing friends is a part of life.

C.Solve problems as quickly as possible.

D.One way to make you feel better again is to make new friends.

E.Come on, you lost someone you are close to.

F. Here are four tips to remember if you're losing a friend.

 配对阅读。左栏是五则青少年的成长烦恼,右栏是七则建议。请将烦恼和建议进行匹配。

My daughter used to be outgoing (外向的), but recently she was always quiet and seemed unhappy. I don' t know the reason and what I should do. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

My son is always laughed at by his classmates because he is overweight. He is very sad. Though I want to help him, I don't know how to do it. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}

My daughter really likes chatting with a boy on WeChat. She said they were talking about study, but I'm still a little worried. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}

My son used to be good at English. However, he failed the last exam. I asked him the reason but he wouldn't say anything. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}

My daughter used to listen to me, but recently she began to talk back to me. I'm very angry. But I don't know the reason. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

A. When kids grow up, they have their own ideas. Sometimes we have to learn to listen to their opinions. Don't always ask your daughter to listen to you. Try listening to her first.

B. First, you should ask your son to lose weight. After all, health is very important. Then you can talk to your son's teachers about the problem. They may know how to deal with it.

C. Health is of great importance to people, especially the young. Tell your son to stop playing computer games day and night. And ask him to go to bed early and get up early. Then he will be healthy.

D. Don't keep asking him the reason. If he wouldn't like to tell you the reason, you'd better talk to his English teacher and find out what's going on with his English.

E. Why don't you use WeChat? We can do many things on it, such as chatting with friends, sending files(文 件) etc. Without it, our life may become inconvenient.

F. Maybe she meets some problems but doesn't know how to deal with them. As a parent, you should talk to her first. Find out what makes her sad, and then work with her to find a way out.

G. Has your daughter ever told lies? If not, don't be worried. You should trust her for now, but keep an eye on her. Maybe she was just asking the boy to help with her study.

 阅读短文,回答问题

 How old is"old"? The answer has changed over the years. Two hundred years ago , you were old at 35. That was the average life span(跨度; 范围) then. At the turn of this century, as medical knowledge improved , the average life span increased to 45. In 1950,70-year-olds were really old. Today, a healthy70-year-old is looking forward to many more active years.

 So, how old is old? Once an unknown writer wrote, "Youth is not a time of life but is a state of mind. Nobody grows old by living a number of years; people grow old by giving up their goals."

 Old is a point of view. Alice Brophy, when she was with the New York City commission for the Aging, said , "It makes me angry when people say, 'Gee , you look young for your age!' What does that mean? Is there a model that you' re supposed to look a certain way at 65 and 75 and 85? You know you can die old at30 and live young at 80."

 There are many wrong ideas about aging. These ideas stereotype(固化) people on the basis of age. Here are some of them and the facts.

 Wrong idea 1: Most older people are in poor health.

 Fact 1: Not so. There are neither biological(生物的) nor physiological(生理的) reasons to connect poor health with growing older. Older people are more likely to be affected(使感染) with illness , ____▲____ . It is possible to remain physically healthy throughout your life.

 Wrong idea 2: When you get old, you become senile(年老糊涂的).

Fact 2: Older people can be smart as young minds. Senility is a sign of disease; it is not part of aging process.

 Wrong idea 3: Older people are unable to change.

 Fact 3: Older people are as easily-changed in their life-styles as young and middle-aged people. Though sometimes they face the very big pressures about death of close friends, financial or family problems, they deal wonderfully well. Older people give up smoking and break other bad habits, just as successfully as younger people.
