Dear Sir or Madam，

    Last Thursday， I traveled on the 8：00 a.m. train from Glasgow to London King's Cross and I was quite angry with the service of your company.

    The train didn't come on time and it was forty minutes late when it left Glasgow. A man at  the station said sorry to us， but he didn't give us any reasons for the delay(误点) . We then had further delays on the way and had to wait another thirty minutes. As a result， I missed my plane from London to Frankfurt and had to wait for several hours.

What's more， the service on the train was also very poor， The trip took more than five hours. Unluckily， we could buy nothing but some soft drinks on the train. Worst of all， something was wrong with the air conditioning ( 空调系统) and it got hotter and hotter in the train. Before we reached King's Cross， the temperature was over 40℃.

    Because of your poor service， I feel you should pay me compensation(赔偿).

     A priest (神父) lived with his small white cat. One day, the cat climbed up a tree and was afraid to come down. The priest called its name and gave it its favourite drink, warm milk, but the cat still didn't come down. So the priest decided to tie rope (栓一根绳子) between his car and the tree. He thought as he drove, the tree would bend down (弯曲) and he could get the cat. He did so. But he drove too far, and the rope broke (断).

    The tree went "boing!" and the cat went through the air. The priest couldn't see it. He felt terrible. He walked around and asked people if they'd seen his cat. But nobody had seen it. At last, he said, "God (上帝), I just give this cat to your keeping."

    A few days later, he met one of his friends in a shop. He saw cat food in her shopping bag. This woman didn't like cats and everyone knew it, so he asked her in surprise, "Why are you buying cat food?"

    She answered, "My little girl always wanted a cat, but I didn't agree. Then a few days ago, she asked again. I told her if God gave her a cat, she could keep it. She went out of the house and said something to the sky. Then suddenly a cat flew out of the blue sky and landed in front of her. "

    The priest smiled and said, "How lucky your little girl is!" Then he went on shopping.

    The Kings lived in a small house in New York with their child. Sometimes Mr. King came back from work very late. When his wife and the child were asleep, he opened the front door of his house with his key and came in very quietly.

    But one night when he was coming home late, he lost his key. So when he reached his home, he rang the bell. Nothing happened. He rang it again. Again nothing happened. Nobody moved inside the house. Mr. King knocked at the bedroom window. He spoke to his wife, he shouted, but she didn't wake up. At last he stopped and thought for a minute. Then he began to speak like a small child. "Mother," he said, "I want to go to the toilet." He spoke quietly, but at once, Mrs. King woke up. Then he spoke to her, and she opened the door for him.

People can hardly believe that Fred Carey is one of the best students in his class. He used 1 a trouble maker and often drove his teacher mad.

Fred's father died when he was just a 2 boy. Life became 3 for him. His mother had to work to pay for his education. As a result, she was seldom at home. She tried to look 4 him well, but Fred caused a lot of problems for himself and his family. He had no 5 in studying and often got into trouble with the police. Luckily, his mother was very patient and didn't give up 6 him. 7 the end, she made a difficult decision 8 him to a boys' boarding school. Fred hated it at first and caused even 9 trouble. He told his teacher he wanted to leave the school. Even the teacher agreed that Fred was wasting his time.

The headmaster suggested that Fred should have a talk with his mother. "It was exactly 10 I needed." he said. "My mother helped me understand how much she had given to me. She also told me that 11 my father was no longer with us, he was watching me and would always be proud of everything good I had done. That's the time when I decided to change. I realized that since my father 12 , I had been afraid of being alone, and had tried to make my mother 13 more about me."

Now Fred has 14 changed. He has been working hard. How was he able to change? His mother's love helped him to feel good about himself, and as Fred himself says, "15 very important for parents to be there for their children."
