It was raining. I went into a cafe and asked for a coffee..While waiting for my drink, I realized there were other people in the place, but I sensed loneliness. I saw their bodies, but I couldn't feel their souls because their souls belonged to the Net.

I stood up and walked between the tables. When I came to the biggest computer, I saw a thin, small man sitting in front of it. "I am Steve," he finally answered after I asked him a couple of times what his name was. "I can't talk with you. I'm busy," he said He was chatting online and,  at the same time playing a computer game: a war game. I was surprised.

Why didn't Steve want to talk with me? I tried again to speak to that computer geek, but not a word came out of his mouth. I touched his shoulder, but no reaction I was unhappy. I put my hand in front of the monitor and he shouted, "Leave me alone." I took a few steps back, wondering if all those people were having a nice conversation with their machines, not with people, especially Steve.I wouldn't want to imagine the future of human beings if they preferred sharing their lives with machines instead of with people. I was worried and sank in my thoughts. I didn't even realize that the coffee was bad, just as Steve didn't notice there was a person next to him.

Wind is a powerful force in nature. Wind energy may cause great waves in the world's oceans. Its power can be used to create electricity for cities and the countryside.

Wind can also power many expressions in American English. Let's start with a simple one. If you run like the wind, you can run very fast. After running, sometimes you can be full of energy.

If you are doing something difficult, it is good to have the wind at your back, for example, when you are sailing. In this way, it is easier to go forward.

Knowing the direction of the wind is one of the most important parts of sailing. When wind fills a sail, it makes the boat go faster. If you take the wind out of someone's sails, you prevent them from reaching their goals.

Let's turn from sailing to music. Many songwriters use the image of wind in their songs. If an idea is blowing in the wind, it is under discussion but has yet to be decided. When a singer sings"you don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows", he means you know what is going on, and he tells you to trust yourself as you can find something out on your own.

Now you know which way the wind blows. Then how can you use these expressions properly? First, read them aloud and keep them in mind. Then, practice using them and test yourself. You know, practice makes perfect.

Shay can never hold her chopsticks (筷子) well. "Like this, Jiajia." her mother holds out her own chopsticks and called Shay's Chinese name. Shay tries but it's too difficult. She makes a face. "I don't want to. Everyone at Abigail's house uses spoons and forks (叉子)." she says and reaches for a spoon.

The next day, Shay's mother prepared noodles for her lunch. Chopsticks, too. Only chopsticks. "I have two forks," Abigail says, "You can borrow if you like." Abigail can't use chopsticks at all, but she doesn't have to. She is pretty and blond and has a last name that isn't Chinese. "Yes, please!" Shay says, "Thanks, Abigail!"

After dinner, Shay sits with her mother at the desk. she takes out some drawing things from the desk. "What do you want to draw?" Mom asks. "A dragon!" Shay says. At school, her class is reading stories and her favorite characters are always dragons. They are big and strong, and they breathe fire (喷火). Mother also draws quietly with Shay, side by side. Shay draws a fire-breathing dragon and she turns to her mother's drawing: a snakelike animal with big teeth. It's a Chinese dragon, a long.

"That's pretty, mom!" Shay says. "I wish long had wings (翅膀). Then they could fly like my dragon does." "They do fly and they can swim, too. The long is a dragon as I know it. And this is a dragon as you know it. But they are both dragons." Mom points to Shay's drawing. "Oh," says Shay, "So it's just like how I know forks and you know chopsticks?" Mother thinks for a while and laughs. "Yes. Just like that. There really is no wrong way to eat, you can use forks or you can use chopsticks."

The next day, Shay gets noodles again, ____.
