牛津版(深圳·广州)初中英语八年级下册Module 1 Social communication Unit 2 Body language 第2课时Reading(2)练习

阅读理解

Body language is an important part of communication. If you want to communicate well, it's important to understand how you can (and can't) use your body to say what you mean, especially when you're in a foreign country.

If a person is bored, he won't look at the person who is talking to him. He will find other things to do. He may also keep looking at his watch or a clock. If a person is open to you, his arms and legs will not be crossed (交叉的). And if a person is relaxed, you will know it by looking at his body, and even his breathing (呼吸) is slower.

Several years ago, the United Nations(the UN)issued(发行) a set of stamps celebrating poetry(诗歌)from around the world. The purpose was to show the important role poetry plays in shaping a nation's culture. For the Chinese stamp, the organization chose Li Bai's Thoughts on a Tranquil Night. For me, it was the perfect choice. I was moved by the feelings that everyone in the world could share: loneliness, homesickness and admiration for beauty and the wonders of nature.

That poem was written more than 1, 300 years ago during the Tang dynasty. There were so many poets at that time. Li Bai seemed to be friends with most of them, including Gao Shi, Du Fu, Wang Changling and Meng Haoran. Those of you who have watched the film Chang'an probably know that, although being separated, these men knew each other's work and always tried to keep in touch. And, in a sense, they felt connected by a common goal—to do something useful for their country.

Culture does serve the nation. It is the foundation(基础)on which a nation is built. It provides a nation with its values and spirits. The Chinese appreciate beauty, truth and goodness in their own culture as well as in other cultures. If they had lived during the same era, I believe that Li Bai and Shakespeare would have liked each other's poems. I can imagine them drinking, reading and talking about their poems. Shakespeare would have said, "Ah, yours is a lovely culture. I hope it lasts forever." And Li Bai would've said, "My wish for your culture is the same."

 阅读下面短文, 从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。

 Dear Ann,

In the last letter, you said you were interested in the school club I started last year. You asked me what pushed me to do so.

Well, the answer came to me when searching for a topic for the school work. I found that many U. S. teens weren't even eating one piece of fruit or vegetable daily! If I can help others put more vegetables and fruits into their daily meals, I would surely do that.

So, I started" Lettuce Eat" as well as a website with nutrition(营养) tips. Here I want to share some cool tips with you.

If you dislike eating vegetables, here's a tip for you: Put vegetables into meals without having to taste them. It got me to eat vegetables that I don't like, such as cauliflower or carrots. I mix(混合) vegetables with meat and use them in noodles or other dishes.

Sometimes you don't even need to make a difficult dish. By just adding something on the side, you can greatly increase the nutrients you get out of the meal. For example, tomatoes have a lot of vitamin C. If you add tomatoes to rice and beans, you will get more iron.

I think my most useful lesson was knowing the importance of having"3 square meals" so that I wouldn't be very interested in unhealthy snacks(点心). In the past,I often snackeda lot on chips and chocolates and got into a bad habit of eating too much between meals, then not being hungry enough for a healthy meal, and then being hungry again for snacking... and this would go on and on. Now I know that I need to have a complete meal, including vegetables and other healthy food, and I have now given up most of my unhealthy snacking.

There is so much to learn about nutrition. Although I only spent about a year on my club, it turned out to be a fun way to give useful information to teenagers. I hope you will join us as well!

 Yours,

 Vivian Jibrin

 阅读下面短文,根据括号内所给汉语意思写出单词的正确形式 (每空一词)。

Years ago, if a teenager had some problems in his life, he might write them in the diary. But now a teenager may go online and write his {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (每日的) feelings in a micro blog (博客). Diaries and micro blogs both {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (使……想起) the writers of what happened to them on a certain day. But what makes micro blogs different from diaries?

One of the biggest differences is that micro blogs attract more {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (注意力), while diaries are too {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (私人的). Nowadays people are {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (积极的) in writing micro blogs because they want others to read the things about them as much as possible. Also, a few special or interesting online micro blogs can be {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (传播) and become famous. As they write more micro blogs, their fans may {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (增加) as well. Therefore, some people may show the lively moments when they feel happy, some may share the {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (幽默的) stories or experiences, and some even write novels in their micro blogs.

If people are caring about what they write and who the readers may be, micro blogs are without {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (疑问) a good way to write about their life.

If people don't want their feelings to be widely known, of course, keeping diaries is one of the best {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (选择).
