“Homestay is a form of study—abroad program. It allows the visitor to stay with a local family to better understand the local lifestyle. It also helps to improve the visitor's language ability. If you wish to learn more about foreign cultures or to get foreign experience, you should join this kind of holiday. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} ”. Said a teacher during a school meeting last term.

After this meeting, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} . At last, I had such a chance to go on such a holiday with some of my schoolmates last month. We went to London, a place where I had wanted to go since years ago.

After we got to London, we went to stay with different families. I was lucky that my host family (寄宿家庭)was a white couple who had a daughter about my age  {#blank#}3{#/blank#}  。They were interested in me and I learnt a lot of things from then on.

{#blank#}4{#/blank#} . After breakfast, a local teacher would come to take us in his car. Then we would have classes or go on a sight—seeing trip to different places of interest like Big Ben. London Bridge, and Beckingham Palace. We would go back to our own homes after the activities.

The holiday was a valuable experience for me. I enjoyed every minute of it. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} . Three weeks later, we had to leave “home” for Hong Kong.

    Care what you eat and drink

    Form a bedtime habit

    Do the same things each night to tell your body it's time {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (calm) down. You can take a warm shower, read a book or listen to relaxing music. Don't {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (useful) the TV set or other electronic devices as pan of your bedtime habit.

    Limit daytime naps

    If you have some naps {#blank#}9{#/blank#} the day, you will be active and can't fall asleep {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (quick) in the evening. Limit the naps in the daytime.

    Before Father's Day, I found my father was unhappy because he was out of work. I decided to cheer him up by {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (buy) him a special Father's Day gift.

    One day after school, I rode to the Amy's Store which was {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (know) for fashions and styles. I told Amy that I was looking {#blank#}3{#/blank#} a Father's Day present.

    "Do you think he'd like a watch?" she asked and took out a Swiss watch {#blank#}4{#/blank#} looked nice. I told her that my father would like it.

    "How much money do you have?" she asked.

    "Twelve dollars," I replied.

    "You're so {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (luck)," she told me. "It's only $11. You still have $1 for the card." She packed the watch {#blank#}6{#/blank#} thanked me for my business. Then I rode off home {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (quick) with the gift under my arm.

    When my father opened the gift, he asked, "Where did you get it?"

    "I bought it at the Amy's Store. It cost me $11," I said. {#blank#}8{#/blank#} surprised my father looked!

Many years later, I learned that the watch was worth several hundred dollars, and I appreciated

 (感激) how wonderful Amy had been to me. I always {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (regret) that I never had a chance to thank her.

    "What really amazes me to this day... my daughter," My father said. "Letting you have the watch for eleven dollars was unbelievable enough. But the fact that she let you leave the store with a dollar for the card was a touch of {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (kind). I'll never forget it."
