"I am Peppa Pig. This is my little brother George! This is Mommy Pig and this is Daddy Pig! " Do you know this family? I like them very much. Peppa Pig is from England, and she is four years old. Her favorite thing is to play with her best(最好的) friend Suzy and her brother George. Who's George's best friend? Peppa? No! His best friend is his dinosaur(恐龙). He takes(带着) his dinosaur everywhere. Mommy Pig is beautiful. She cooks for the family. Daddy Pig sometimes cooks for them, too. They often jump in muddy puddles(泥坑) with Peppa and George. They are very happy.

My day began when I saw my six-year-old son Jonathan doing something in the garden by my azalea bush(杜鹃花从). By the time I got 1 , I found he'd broken it! It was my favorite! "Can I take this to school?" he asked. smiling. Though a bit unhappy, I nodded. Then I turned back to the broken bush and 2 it as if to say silently, "I'm sorry." Later I pruned (修剪) it with great care.

The rest of the day, I was busy doing endless housework. Time had passed by fast 3 I realized it was already 3:00. Leaving the clothes in the washing machine. I hurriedly got to school to 4 Jonathan. When I got there, the teacher told me she wanted to talk about Jonathan.

What now? I thought.

 I had prepared myself for the worst,5 the teacher's words greatly surprised me."Did you know Jonathan brought 6 to school today?" she asked. I nodded, thinking about my favorite bush. "See that little girl?" the teacher7 . I saw a bright-eyed child busily drawing a picture with crayons. I8 again

"Well, her parents are separated(分居的) and she has been9 these days. I did all I could to comfort(安慰)her, but nothing10 . This morning I watched your son walk over to11 with some pretty pink flowers and say, ‘This is for you.'"

I felt my heart full of12 for what my son had done. Holding Jonathan's hand, I said, "Thank you, you've13 my day."

I was warmed by the14 Jonathan showed to the little girl and I made up my mind to pass it on. Later that evening when my husband came back home from a tiring workday, I picked some pink azaleas and15 them to him. "This is for you," I said.

 Three years ago, I started working at the University of Leeds and I was looking for things to do. I noticed that a community school was {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(提供) Chinese evening classes. I paid fora beginner class {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(没有) much thought. 

I had no plans to move to China. I just wanted to learn a new l{#blank#}3{#/blank#} , which is also a good chance for me to know more about Chinese culture and Chinese {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(传统习俗). I used to speak fluent English and Spanish. But I think there should be a huge difference between learning something new as a child and learning as an adult. 

I had Chinese lessons {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(严肃). There was only one lesson a week and each lasted 90 m{#blank#}6{#/blank#} . Mr. Kong, the teacher, was energetic. For each class, he would teach us what seemed   like hundreds of new words. After {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(数个) months, I got used to this. Through weekly classes, my mind would reorder and make sense of the chaos. 

 There are more than 6, 000 international students. It was not difficult to find Chinese students who want to {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(练习) English in exchange for Chinese. My new Chinese friends helped me go over everything I had learned in class. 

 Now I'd like to describe Chinese grammar as an easier one than that of English or Spanish. I am ready to overcome any difficulty and become fluent in Chinese. 

I will always admire(钦佩) my father and his belief. 

As I held my father's hands one night, I couldn't help but notice their calluses(老茧) and roughness(粗糙). His hands tell the story of his life as a 1 . 

One summer, a drought (干旱) hit Ontario, turning it into a burning desert. On one of those hot 2 , I was picking sweet corn with my dad to fill the last order from the grocery store. Fifty dozen was all we needed, which 3 took twenty minutes. That morning, however, the work didn't go 4 . After forty minutes of walking in the field, we still needed twenty dozen. I was completely impatient and angry. 5 the basket heavily, I said, "If the store wants its last twenty dozen, they can pick it themselves!" Dad laughed. "Just think, my little girl, only 6 dozen left for each of us and then we're done. " Such is Dad--whatever problem he 7 , he never gives up. 

8 , the bad effects of the drought were felt all over our country. It was a difficult time for everyone, but Dad remained silent and calm, optimistic (乐观的). He 9 to be thankful for other things like good health and food on our plate. Only then did I truly 10 to admire Dad and his confidence that guided us through the hard times. 

Dad is also a living example of real 11 . From morning to evening, he works countless hours to 12 our family. He always puts our happiness 13 his own, and never fails to cheer me on at my sports games no matter how tired he is after long days. His love and selfless nature have 14 me to put others first.
