In a faraway kingdom, there was a river. It was the home to many golden swans (天鹅). The swans spent most of their time in the river. Every six months, the swans would leave a golden feather (羽毛) as a paying for using the river. The soldiers of the kingdom would collect the feathers and gave them to the king.

One day, a homeless bird saw the river. "The water in this river seems so cool and nice. I will make my home here," thought the bird.

The minute the bird landed near the river, the golden swans noticed her. They came shouting, "This river belongs to us! We pay a golden feather to the king to use this river. You can not live here."

"I am homeless, brothers. I will also pay. Please give me a place to live in," the bird pleaded (乞求). "How can you pay for it? You do not have golden feathers," said the swans, laughing. They added, "Stop dreaming and leave at once." The poor bird pleaded many times. But the arrogant (傲慢的) swans still drove the bird away.

"I will teach them a lesson!" decided the bird, feeling angry.

She went to the king and said, "Oh, my king! The swans in your river are rude and unkind. I pleaded for a home but they said that they had paid to live in the river with golden feathers."

The king was angry with the arrogant swans for having driven the homeless bird away. He ordered his soldiers to bring the swans to his palace. In no time, all the golden swans were brought to the king's palace.

"Do you think our kingdom depends on your golden feathers? You can not decide who lives by the river. Leave the river at once or I will kill you!" shouted the king.

Ten years ago, I took up studying luck. I wanted to know why some people are always in the right place at the right time, while others always experience ill luck. Many people volunteered for my research. Over the years I interviewed them, watched their lives and had them take part in my experiments(实验).

I carried out a simple experiment to discover why there were differences in their ability to find lucky chances. I gave both lucky and unlucky people a newspaper and asked them to look through it and tell me how many photographs were inside. I had secretly placed a large message halfway through the newspaper saying, "Tell the researcher you have seen this and win $50." This message took up half of the page and was more than two inches(英尺) high. It was looking at everyone straight in the face, but unlucky people tended to(倾向于) miss it and lucky people tended to notice it.

Unlucky people are just more nervous than lucky people. They are busy looking only for what they need and this stops them from noticing the unexpected. As a result, they miss out on chances. Lucky people tend to be more relaxed and open. They can see everything that is in front of them, rather than just what they are looking for.

My research shows that lucky people live by several principles(原则). Here are some of these principles:

* Listen to your gut instincts(直觉) — they are often right.

* Be open to new experiences and break your normal thought patterns.

* Spend a few moments each day remembering things that went well.

* See yourself being lucky before an important meeting or phone call.

Most people think martial arts(武术) are all about kicking, punching(用拳打) and fighting. But China's taijiquan, also known as tai chi, is the other way around. It is slow, calm, and peaceful.

UNESCO(联合国教科文组织) recently added tai chi to its Intangible Cultural Heritage List(非物质文化遗产名录). Although tai chi is an ancient martial art, it is still quite popular today. It has over 100 million fans in more than 150 countries.

People do tai chi as a way to stay fit. Unlike other exercise, it is "soft"—the muscles are relaxing, the joints(关节) are not fully bent(弯曲的), and you don't need to stretch(拉伸) too much. This means many can do it. You can practise it almost anytime and anywhere without anything. It is believed that practising tai chi can help us have better control of our bodies so that we can stand, walk and run better.

But tai chi's benefits go beyond physical health. Marleni Calcina, a Peruvian woman who has practised tai chi for more than 10 years, says it's not only a sport, but also a way of life. Tai chi has taught her the value of living more slowly.

Life and work used to stress her out. But she began to feel a change thanks to tai chi, which helped her get peace and inner harmony(内心的和谐). She told Xinhua, "For me now, practising tai chi is like speaking with my soul(灵魂). "

 阅读下面短文, 从每题所给的四个选项A、B、C、D中, 选出最佳选项。

The Museum of Modern Art in New York City. The National Air and Space Museum in Washington. And the German Historical Museum in Berlin.

And those are only part of the list.

Children from more than 180, 000 families in China can now go on virtual(虚拟的) tours of ten world-famous museums. The programs provide video clips, cartoons and commentary(实时解说) by Chinese experts. The shows are produced by Aha School, an education company. The families each pay 15 yuan to watch. The company also gives away the programs to 174 rural(乡村的) classrooms.

Ma Xiaoyan is a teacher in Sichuan. He says the children there are very poor. They have never visited a museum. For some of them, even going to the closest town is difficult.

Educators are excited about the museum project. It shows how live streaming(在线直播) can help improve rural education. The technology is already widely popular on social media. However, it was not until recently that it had been used for education.

Aha School is not alone. A few urban schools in China have also begun sharing their lessons with rural schools. But some of the projects fail to produce the expected effect. That is because students in rural classrooms have very different backgrounds.

The museum project of Aha School has been a success. Pan Lisheng, the head of the company, says the problem doesn't lie in the technology. Instead, it is because few educators have worked out how to make the lessons interesting.

Pan and his workmates make sure that their programs will interest children from any background. "Every child is a unique(独一无二的) flower, " Pan said.
