(新版)人教新目标版(Go for it)八年级下册Unit 1 What's the matter Self Check单元测试

阅读短文,回答问题。

    What is the most important thing in the world? I think it is health. You can take away our money, house, car, or even our clothes and we can survive. But if our health were taken away, we would surely die. That is why we always try to eat in a healthy way and exercise regularly. In order to eat healthily, I usually avoid(避免) eating food high in fat, like French fries or cookies. I eat little meat. I eat a lot of vegetables and fresh fruits.   Taking exercise every day helps us build a strong body. Regular exercise is an important part of keeping me healthy. What's more, I think friends are an important part of our health. Many studies show that people with a wide range of social contacts(社会交往) get sick less than those who don't. I always feel better when I am with friends than when I am atone. When I am with my friends, I always laugh. Laughing is also an important part of health. I like to laugh with my friends. By eating properly and exercising regularly, I can keep my body at a proper weight and keep healthy. By spending time with my friends, I can keep my mind as well as my body happy. These things sound easy to do, but not many people can manage them. I think a strong will is necessary if we want to keep healthy.

It's early in the morningand the alarm clock has already rung several time. You have to pull yourselfout of bed and rush to school because you're afraid of being late for school.

As a school student, this is probably a commonexperience for you. But thanks to new rules, students in Zhejiang andHeilongjiang provinces can now stay in bed longer than before.

On Feb 23, the Zhejiang Department of Educationannounced (宣布) a new rule that asksprimary schools to start school later. According to the rule, start times couldbe different among different grades, with students in Grade 1 and 2 starting noearlier than 8:30 am.

A similar guideline (指导方针) was announced by the education department in HeilongjiangProvince on Feb 24. Students from all primary and junior high schools in theprovince have been required (要求) to arrive at school noearlier than 8 am.

According to a 2016 study by the ZhejiangDepartment of Education, half students in Grade 4 slept nine hours or more anight, while the enough sleep time for primary students in 10 hours.

"I welcome the new rule so much. It is sucha wonderful rule that gives my son enough time for breakfast, which isnecessary for his health and growth", a mother named Xu Li said. She isfrom Hangzhou and his son is in Grade 1. These changes have received muchpraise as they make students get enough sleep and enough time for breakfast.

Pushing back school times isn't unique (唯一的) to China. In the United States, schools in at least 21 statesbegan to start school later in 2017, as studies have shown that later schoolstart times could be good for students' development.

A. Start your school-year schedule. B. Back to school fashion.

C. Deal with your worries.       D. Prepare your school things.

E. Say goodbye to last year.    F. Make a plan and practice.

Ring, ring, ring, the alarm bell sounds. It's school time again! After a long holiday, are you ready for the new term? You may feel excited to see your classmates, or a little nervous about the coming schoolwork. Heading back to school is a time of transition(过渡). How can we fit in the new term? Here are some ways to make the transition from holiday to school a little easier.

 {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

It's very normal to feel nervous on the first day of school. Getting back to the school routines(常规) and fitting in new schoolwork take some time after a long break. So how can we deal with(处理) our worries? Just think about your first day in the past years. Everything will go well once you get used to it. Just relax and wait.

{#blank#}2{#/blank#}

People say"a good beginning is half done". A good plan is surely needed before the new term. Think about what you can do better this term than the last.Make a plan and try to go for it!

{#blank#}3{#/blank#}

If you went to bed and got up late during the holiday, you will have to change your body clock back to normal. Go to bed earlier the week before classes start.This way, you won't be tired after the first few days of school. Also, having some warm-ups is helpful. Doing exercise and practicing morning reading every day are some other good ideas to get ready for the new school-year schedule.

{#blank#}4{#/blank#}

It makes you feel good if you are prepared and have all the things you need.Check all the homework you need to do a week earlier. And it's better to pack your schoolbag the night before school starts.

{#blank#}5{#/blank#}

What about wearing something you like? Maybe you got a new schoolbag during the holiday, or new sports shoes that can put a spring in your step. If you wear a school uniform, you can wear your favorite watch or a new hair band to show your personal style.

 C. Fill in the blanks with proper words (在短文的空格内填入适当的词,使其内容通顺。每空格限填一词,首字母已给)

The Internet has changed our habits, including our habits of sending greeting cards. There are many e-card websites that make it so easy to find the right greeting cards. They have greatly changed the way we send greetings to each other.

Our lives have become so busy that we have limited personal time. These e-card websites have allowed everyone to e{#blank#}1{#/blank#} share their feelings and emotions with the people they love. They contain plenty of greeting cards that can be used immediately. The users can choose any card they like, from festival greetings to birthday w{#blank#}2{#/blank#}. In fact, e-cards are perfect for any event. That's why more and more people like to send e-cards. If the users are i{#blank#}3{#/blank#} in making their own greeting cards on the Internet, they can create a card within only a few minutes.

A{#blank#}4{#/blank#} benefit of e-card websites is that they have made it possible for you to send top quality cards to your beloved ones and surprise them with cheerful greetings. They allow you to send your greetings on a specific date. So you can plan for the occasion when you want to send the card. For example, you can send your e-card on a certain day and then visit the person with some flowers the next day. This will surely create a good impression o{#blank#}5{#/blank#} the person you love.

We have never forgotten the importance of saying sorry to our beloved ones. But sometimes we fail to do b{#blank#}6{#/blank#} we are not brave enough to face those we hurt. Some e-cards on these websites allow us to express our feelings in a more thoughtful way.

Although some people still would rather buy t{#blank#}7{#/blank#} cards in the shops for the persons they love, especially when they want the cards to last a long time, more and more people are choosing to send greetings on the Internet.

Here are some English learning tips to help you improve your English.

Ask yourself weekly: Whatdo I want to learn this week?

Asking yourself this question every week will help you think about what is most important to you. If you make a plan for each week, you will be surprised to notice how much you have improved your English by the end of the week! This feeling of success will encourage you to learn even more English.

Quickly review before going to bed

Research has shown that our brains process information that is fresh in our brains while we sleep. By going over important knowledge before you go to sleep, your brain will work on this information while you sleep!

Speak English aloud

Understanding grammar rules does not mean you can speak English well. You need to practice speaking aloud. Speaking by yourself at home and reading the exercises that you are doing will help connect the muscles of your face to the information in your head and improve your pronunciation.

Do five to ten minutes of listening at least four times a week

If you decide that you are going to work hard and listen for two hours, maybe you will not do extra listening exercises soon. But if you listen five to ten minutes at least four times a week, you will find it's not so hard to develop the habit of listening to English.

Look for situations to practice your English

Learning English in a classroom is important, but using English in real situations will improve your Englis h skills greatly. You can create new situations by using the Internet to listen to news, exchange emails in English with email friends, etc.

 阅读下列短文,从每题所给的 A、B、C 和 D 四个选项中选出最佳选项。

Nobody likes making mistakes, but the truth is that everyone makes mistakes. It's just a part of life. However, how you treat those mistakes makes a difference in how you learn and whether you repeat the same mistakes. Here's some advice on what you can do, if you are upset about your mistakes.

Think about your mistakes and learn from them. It helps you to learn to think like a scientist and develop scientific thinking habits. ▲ One of them is to make educated guesses called hypotheses ( 假 说 ) and test those guesses to see if they' re right or wrong. They look at the results of their tests and learn from their mistakes — since hypotheses are often wrong. Then, they change their hypotheses and run new tests on them again.

Try to keep practicing dealing with your mistakes. Research over the years supports an idea known as the 10, 000-hour rule. It says it takes about 10, 000 hours to become an expert in something. It means that practice is necessary for people to be good at something. Research also shows that the best improvements come from deliberate( 有 意 的 ) practice. It means paying full attention to your mistakes and fixing those problems before moving on. Even though you might not be trying to become an expert right now, you can still use deliberate practice to get good at dealing with your mistakes and grow as a learner.

Don't feel bad or worry too much next time you make a mistake. See it as a chance to learn and take the time to find out what went wrong. It will help your brain remember the mistake and what you' ve learned from the mistake. These memories will help you not repeat the same mistakes in the future and also help you learn to think like a scientist and learn from your mistakes!
