浙江省温岭市五校联考2016-2017学年上学期八年级期末检测英语试卷

根据材料内容,选择正确答案。

When you are learning English, listening, speaking and writing are important, but reading can also be very helpful. When you read, you can not only learn some new words, but also you can learn how to use these English words. When you read, it gives you a good example for writing.

    Good reading tips:

Try to read at the right level(水平). Read something that you can (more or less) understand. If you need to stop every three words to use a dictionary, it is not interesting.

Try to increase the number of your new words. If there are four or five new words on a page, write them in your notebook. But you don't have to write them while you read. Instead, try to guess their meaning as you read: mark them with a pen. Then come back when you have finished reading to look them up in a dictionary and write them in your own vocabulary book. Then try to remember them.

Try to read regularly. For example, read for a short time once a day. Fifteen minutes every day is better than two hours every Sunday. Fix(固定) a time to read and keep to it. You could read for fifteen minutes when you go to bed, or when you get up or at lunchtime.

Read what interests you. Choose a book or a magazine about a subject that you like, because you are going to spend time and money reading it. So, choose an interesting book. You can also read newspapers. There are many English newspapers in China. For example, 21st Century Teens. It is easy enough for you to understand it. There is something interesting in it.

What's Anti- Bullying Day(反霸凌日)?

Anti- Bullying Day is a special day when people talk about bullying and what we can do to stop it. A lot of {#blank#}1{#/blank#} take part in activities at school and online, to learn about what bullying means and what we can do if we see it {#blank#}2{#/blank#}.

When is Anti- Bullying Day?

The date of Anti- Bullying Day is different in different countries. In many places, it's {#blank#}3{#/blank#} 4 May( United Nations Anti- Bullying Day). In the UK, Anti- Bullying Week takes place every November. Everyday of the year, it's {#blank#}4{#/blank#} to stand up against bullying.

What exactly is bullying?

Often bullying happens when one person has more power {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the other person— perhaps they're bigger or older, or they have more friends. When someone uses their power to hurt another person on purpose, especially more than once, that's bullying.

Bullying can be with {#blank#}6{#/blank#} ( saying mean things) or it can be physical ( hitting, pushing or takingsomeone 's things). Leaving someone out of a group or ignoring(忽视) {#blank#}7{#/blank#} again and again is also bullying.

How can we stand up against bullying?

If someone is bullying you, you could ignore them, tell them to stop or walk away. Pretend that you don't care and try to look confident, even if you don't feel it. Tell a {#blank#}8{#/blank#} or a classmate what's happening and ask them to help; or talk to your parents, a teacher or another adult you trust.

If you see someone else being bullied, never join in with the bullying or laugh at it. That will make it even {#blank#}9{#/blank#}. Instead, be an ' upstander'- help and support the person who is being bullied. Tell teachers or parents about the bullying. If we all stand up against bullying, we can {#blank#}10{#/blank#} it stop.
