The Internet, mobile phones and Ipads are part of our lives now. Technology is greatly affecting all ways of our lives, from the ways we work to the ways we play. And it even causes a number of social problems such as cloning humans.

    We have had lots of technology and it has changed our lives a lot. There is no doubt that humans will continue to use more and more technology. Here are some examples of modern technology that will change our ideas and will affect our lives greatly.

    Global positioning system(GPS)(全球定位系统)

    It's a system that uses radio signals from satellites to show exact(精确的) information. It tells you where the user is on the earth in all weather conditions. It's made up of three parts: satellites, control equipments(设备) on land and receivers.

    Space Technology

Russian and American scientists have worked together for the international Space Station(ISS) for a long time. They hope the ISS will provide a long-lasting lab. Such a lab will bring humans limitless(无限的) advantages. It's even hoped that one day spare technology will take humans to their new houses in space.

    Underwater Robot

Hercules is a kind of underwater robot with some high technology equipments. It will be used to search for ancient ships which were destroyed into the deep sea during their journey long ago.

The world is changing so quickly that it's hard for us to catch up with all the new inventions because they seem to come out every month. It's important for us to learn about new technology and the role that it plays in our lives. So we should be willing to accept modern technology, or we will fall behind the times.

    When you need some water, you have to leave your little house to look for it. Don't just   walk away. Pick off small branches and drop (扔下) them when you walk to go back again easily. When you are lost, the most important thing to do is to stay in one place.

    Why do plants grow in some places but not in others? Why does some land have so many plants growing on it, while other land has almost no plants growing on it at all?

    To grow, plants need several things. One is warmth. In very cold places almost nothing grows. Plants also need water. In very dry parts of the Earth only a few unusual plants can grow. That's why there are almost no trees or grass in dry deserts.

    Plants must also have a place to put down their roots and grow. They find it difficult to grow on hard land. The town is built(被建立) on hard land. The plants there have only the soil between the cracks of the stones to grow in.

    Another thing plants must have before they can grow is food. What will happen if we try to make things grow on the sandy beach? A few plants, such as grass, will grow in sand, but most plants won't. Even if the weather is warm enough and we water the plants each day, many of them will die because the sand on this beach has almost no food for plants.

    This is because of Google glasses. Glasses are the latest technology from Google. They have more exciting features(特征)than you could possibly imagine.

    For one thing, people who wear the glasses can shoot videos and record the sounds around them. So if your friend is wearing Google glasses, he or she can record your every move and broadcast live on the Internet for the world to see.

    There is a GPS system in the glasses. So if you get lost you can say" OK, Glass, where am I?", and it will find where you are and tell you where you need to 90.

    Since April 16, Google glasses have been on the market in small numbers. But by the end of the year anyone will be able to buy a pair for about 2, 500 yuan.

    Some people are not sure whether they find Google glasses cool or not. When someone is wearing Google glasses, it is not easy to see whether or not they are using them.

    The world's first hydrogen-powered(氢动力) trains have begun running in Germany last month. The new trains will run 100-kilometer trips and can travel up to 140 kilometers an hour.

    A French railroad company called Alstom built two hydrogen-powered trains. Teams in Germany and France cooperated on the project, which was supported by the German government. The new train model, called the Coradia iLint, signals the beginning of efforts in Germany and other nations to move away from pollution-producing diesel(柴油) trains.

    Compared(与…相比较) with diesel trains, the Coradia iLint is designed to run on non-electrified train lines with low levels of noise. It uses a process that combines hydrogen and oxygen to produce electrical power. If the system produces more energy than the train needs at that time, it can store the extra energy in batteries. The only emissions(排放物)are water and steam.

    A single tank of hydrogen can run a Coradia iLint train for about 1,000 kilometers. This is very similar to the distance a diesel-powered train can run on with a single tank.

    Hydrogen-powered trains cost more than diesel trains to build. But Alstom officials say the operating costs are much lower. The company plans to provide another 14 Coradia iLint trains by the year 2021. Several other European countries have also expressed interest in developing hydrogen train systems. France has already said it wants its first hydrogen train to be operated by 2022.
