There was once a millionaire who loved money more than anything else in the world. He didn't know exactly（精确地） how much he had, so he took on a little girl to  1 all his money for him.

    It 2 the little girl six days to count all the money. When she told the millionaire that he had forty-two3dollars, he was 4  with joy and asked, “How much 5 do you want?” He thought that 6 she was only a child, he could 7 her into taking a very small amount of money.

    The girl said, “Well, I worked for six days, so I think you 8 pay me for six days. Give me two pennies（便士） for the first day. Each day after that, just give me the amount you give me the day before, multiplied by（乘以） itself.”

    Each day after that, he gave her 15 number of pennies he had given her the day before, multiplied by itself. And by the sixth day, the foolish millionaire had to give the clever little girl all his money.

    My life is always filled with sadness and little joy. However, no matter what happens, I can always face it bravely.

    Last year, I couldn't believe the1that I was allowed to enter the only key high school in my hometown. Then I rushed to my home and told my parents. But my father didn't seem as2as I was.  He just kept smoking without saying a word and my mother put her head down and couldn't help3.

    I knew very well what my family was4. My mum had been ill in bed for 2 years.  We lived a hard life and I couldn't continue my schooling.  I felt so upset but I could say5to my parents. I decided to help my father with his work6my family.

    To my surprise, things completely changed7the beginning of the new term. My head teacher came to my family with some money, which had been8by my schoolmates. He encouraged me," Always have a dream. " With tears in my eyes, I stepped into the key high school.

    I have been studying hard since I entered the high school.  Whenever I meet difficulties, I always9my teacher and schoolmates. I have a college dream and I must work hard for it, no matter10hard life is. Just as a great man says, "When one door shuts, another opens in life."

Qian Xuesen was a great scientist. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} He is also known as "the King of the Rocket." Thanks to his research, China's space technology has progressed in a rapid way.

Qian was born in Shanghai on December 11th, 1911. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} After graduation, he worked in America for a few years. In the early 1950s, he heard that New China had been founded (建立), and he decided to give up the good working conditions in America. Although the American government tried to stop him from leaving, he succeeded in coming back to China in 1955.

{#blank#}3{#/blank#} Then it became the leading organization for China's rocket and air travel. At that time, the conditions in China were too hard. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} On April 24, 1970, China's first man-made satellite (卫星), "Dongfanghong I" was successfully sent into the air.

A student of Qian Xuesen, Zhu Yilin, once said, "I learned professional knowledge and working spirit from Mr. Qian. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} When New China needed scientists badly, he returned to help in the rocket industry."

My parents and I stayed in London for a few weeks last year. We went there in autumn. We think it is the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} time to visit England. The weather is usually very good. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} , we need to bring umbrellas with us. Because we will use them sometimes. There aren't too many {#blank#}3{#/blank#} in October. We stayed {#blank#}4{#/blank#} a small village. We had most of our sightseeing（观光）on {#blank#}5{#/blank#} . We went to see all the {#blank#}6{#/blank#}places. We went shopping and {#blank#}7{#/blank#} too much money. 

A lot of people say English food is awful（难吃）. We don't think {#blank#}8{#/blank#}. In fact, we enjoy{#blank#}9{#/blank#} vacation so much. So we {#blank#}10{#/blank#}to go there again this year.
