When you watch 3D movies or TV, you have to wear a special pair of glasses. The 3D glasses make the images from the screen look like they are there in the room with you.

    Three-dimensional, or 3D, means having three dimensions（维度）: width, height and depth. 3D technology（技术） is based on the way the human brain（大脑） and eyes work. Because the pupils of a person's eyes are about 6.5era apart（分开）, when we look at something, each eye sees,it from a different angle（角度）. Our eyes send the two images to our brain, and the brain puts them together. The small difference between the image from the right eye and the image from the left eye allows us to see depth.

    When we view pictures and television in two dimensions, each eye gets the same information. That is because the image has no real depth, and there is only one of viewing it. So the goal of 3D technology is to get a different image into each of the viewer. It uses two film projectors. One projects a left eye image and the other projects a right image. The 3D glasses allow us to see a different image in each eye.

    While watching 3D films, we feel that we are in the same environment as the things we're watching. However, it also has its disadvantages. The 3D glasseswork by controlling the amount of light that reaches the eyes. It makes the screen look darker. What's more, people with eye problems may get headaches if they spend too much time watching 3D movies，because their brains need to work harder to "read" the images.

Some people just cannot decide what to do all by themselves. They often ask for the advice of their friends. But they never do as their friends have said. My friend Jack is such a person, and he is always asking me for help. I try to help him as well as I can. But he never listens to me. Yesterday I tried a new way to make him take my advice. It worked. “Look,” he said, showing me a letter. “What do you think I should do?” The letter told him that there was a good job for him. It seemed to be a good chance for a young artist. His teacher would send him to Australia to work. The job would pay very well, and he would be able to travel and visit many interesting places. “What do you think of this, Rose?” he asked. “If I take the job, I will have to stay in Australia for two years. I may stay a bit longer. But it would be a wonderful time for me. Should I go. Rose?”

    “Don't go,” I told him, “You'll suffer a lot there.” “Don't go?” he looked surprised at my answer. As you have probably known, Jack went. I wonder whether he found that I really wanted him to take the job.

    We spoke to three students from around the world about different national holidays. There are different customs for each festival.

    "It'll soon be the Chinese New Year. Before it, we'll clean the house and decorate it for good luck. Every shop is going to close for a few days and we'll go out a lot to celebrate on the streets. We might go and see the lion and dragon dances in the city center. I love this festival."

    "Australia Day is on 26th January and it's an important holiday here. We always have a Monday off, so we celebrate for three days. My parents and I go to the countryside for a picnic and friends always come over. Many people go to beach parties or street parties and there's lots of music and dancing. What fun!"

    "The first Thanksgiving was celebrated hundreds of years ago when Europeans who came to America thanked God for his help. It's still a very important day for family members to be together. This year we're going to visit my grandparents and we'll eat a delicious meal of turkey. Thanksgiving is on the 4th Thursday in November every year."

 Mr Wilson is a 70-year-old man. His children work and live in New York. Mr Wilson doesn't like living in the big city. So he lives alone(独自) on the farm(农场). He often walks in a small park near the farm in the mornings.

 One morning, a little girl named Emily sees Mr Wilson walking alone. She walks up to him and says, "Good morning, sir. My name is Emily. May I have your name?"

 Mr Wilson says, "Morning, Emily. I'm Mr Wilson.      ▲  " Then they have a happy talk.

 From that day on, Emily and Mr Wilson become good friends. They often meet in the park and talk with each other. Emily tells Mr Wilson about her school, her favourite sport and her dreams (梦想). Mr Wilson tells Emily about his stories, old friends and life lessons.

 Sometimes, they bring something to eat and drink together. Mr Wilson often brings Emily her favourite fruit— apples. And Emily often brings Mr Wilson his favourite juice— orange juice.

 Their friendship(友谊) brings happiness to them. They learn that age can't stop friendship.

Lucy is 1 8-year-old girl. Her parents2 in Beijing. And she doesn't have any sisters 3 brothers. So she lives with her grandparents. 

Every morning, Lucy's grandfather, Mr. Lin, takes breakfast to her room. He knows Lucy 4 likes Beijing food. Lucy likes her grandfather and wants 5 something to thank him. 

One morning, Mr. Lin takes breakfast to 6 room. But he can't find his granddaughter. "Lucy,7 are you?" "I'm here, in the kitchen," Lucy says and 8 a hamburger with some vegetables to her grandpa. "Dear Grandpa, thanks for your breakfast. And this hamburger is made for you. It's good9 your health."
