My mother told me that when I was born, I was the most beautiful baby in the world. Time passed, and I started to be a 1 and happy girl.

    Then, one day when I was five years old, my life 2 a lot. I had a high fever. The doctor gave me the wrong medicine 3 it brought me a lot of problems with my speech. So I couldn't speak. And the doctor told us I would 4 be able to speak well again or learn another language.

However, my mom couldn't believe I lost my speech. She sent me to a lot of teachers. 5, she found the right teacher, Nina, to help me make my dream come true. She was a very    6 person. She encouraged me and told me that I would speak again. The most amazing thing was that she taught me to read my 7. I remember that I spent hours in front of the mirror and tried to repeat every word that I said. Imagine losing your speech and having to learn 8 again. For me, it was like being hurt again.     A Chinese student went to England to study by 1. His name was Sun. It is spelt S-U-N just as the word "sun" is spelt.

    England is a country with 2 weather. It is often cloudy and rainy, so the people there don't get 3 sunlight in the year. When the Chinese student arrived at 4 Airport, a tall policeman opened his passport (护照) to 5 the visa (签证). The policeman was 6 to find the Chinese name "Sun" in the passport. He thought it was pronounced just 7 the English word "sun". So he said to the student, "I see your name is Sun. You are wanted here!" 

    The Chinese student felt surprised. So he 8 the policeman, "Is there anything wrong with my passport9 visa? Do I have to 10to my country?" "What?" shouted the policeman, "No, we'll 11 let you go away."

    The Chinese student was worried by now. He thought he was going to be arrested (逮捕). He was sure that he had been 12. But he wondered 13 he had broken the British law. So he asked the policeman again, "What happened? What have I done?"

    Then the policeman began to answer his question with a 14on his face. He said, "Welcome to England! You don't know what you have done, Mr. Sun? You 15 sunlight to England already! So we don't want you to go away."

A group of teenagers were waiting for their upcoming volunteer activities.They were members of the School Volunteer Club and often o {#blank#}1{#/blank#} help to people in need.They were going to visit an old people's home.To get r {#blank#}2{#/blank#} for the voluntary work，they had been preparing carefully for a few days.

They got to work as soon as they arrived at the old people's home.Some of the volunteers made small crafts for the elderly，while others told stories or played games to bring them fun.Their politeness，patience and love made a good i {#blank#}3{#/blank#} on the elderly there.Soon it was n {#blank#}4{#/blank#} 6 p.m.，they had to say goodbye and then returned to school.

They felt proud of themselves and w {#blank#}5{#/blank#} what they could do to help more people around them.

Emmitt followed his father to row eleven, seats thirteen and fourteen. He was so busy taking in the sights at the baseball stadium that he wasn't watching where he was going. He bumped right into his father's back. "Sorry, Dad."

His father laughed. "No problem. Which seat do you want?"

Emmitt looked at the number thirteen on the back of the seat. Thirteen was supposedly an unlucky number, and he was going to need some luck if he was going to catch a foul ball(界外球). "I'll take fourteen."

As the players took the field, Emmitt took pictures for his scrapbook. He cheered, did the wave, and even got a foam finger(泡沫手指). The game was great. But it was missing one thing. A foul ball. Emmitt wanted nothing more than to catch a foul ball.

Every time a batter popped a ball into the air, Emmitt sprang to his feet. And each time, he'd groan and sit back down. He'd seen foal balls go over his head and fall short of his row. He saqueezed his foam finger when the next batter came to the plate. It was his favorite player—Harry "the Hammer" Watson. Emmitt stood up and cheered for him. He heard the crack of the bat and watched the ball sail into the air… right toward Emmitt! He couldn't believe it. He was going to catch a foul ball hit by Harry Watson.

"Daddy!" the little girl sitting next to Emmitt cried. "The ball! The ball! Catch it!"

Emmitt saw the huge smile on the girl's face. She wanted the ball.

He turned his back to the ball just as it reached his seat. Emmitt leaned toward his dad and the ball dropped into the hands of the little girl's father.

"Why did you do that?" Emmitt's father asked. "Do you realize who hit that ball?"

"Yeah, but look," Emmitt nodded to the little girl. She was hugging the ball.

"My first game and I got a foul ball," she said.

"I'm proud of you, Emmitt," his dad said, ruffling his hair. "That was a really nice thing to do."

Emmitt smiled as he watched the little girl. He didn't get his foul ball, but he felt as good as if he had.
