19-year-old Peng Huidi is a student of Central South University. For her, taking part in the Chengdu FISU World University Games in 2023 was a life-changing experience.

In fact, Peng's journey to the games began in her early childhood. When she was two, she got hearing problems as a result of a high fever. She became quiet and was afraid of speaking to others. To help Peng, her father took her to the nearest swimming pool. It was there that Peng found her interest and her talent was discovered by a coach. Later, she spent much time training.

Peng wanted to do her best in both swimming and schoolwork, which stressed her out. She once thought about quitting, but she told herself, "If I stop swimming, my future will be completely different from what I've dreamed of." So she kept practicing swimming hard.

The Chengdu FISU World University Games has been a turning point for Peng. After making it through several qualifying rounds (资格赛)，she was called up to the Chinese swimming team for the games. "I remember the first day she joined the team. None of us knew she couldn't hear clearly. We were amazed at not only her performance, but also her sporting spirit," the coach said. "She has overcome (克服）so many difficulties to compete at this level. We should all learn from her."

The list for the sixth-grade basketball team was announced online. I was a little worried because I knew how much my 12-year-old son wanted to make the team

I read the list of 13 names for a few minutes. Finally, I had to tell myself that my son wasn't among the players who were allowed to continue playing I felt sad. I wished it would be about victory. Like every parent, I love to say, "You did it! "

My son is 15 years old now. And, after being cut from the team for three years in a row(连续地), he got to see his name on the list for the high school team. Last week, my husband and I watched him play in his first game. The smile on his face when he made his first shot in is something I will never forget After so many failures, it was a win that didn't come easy for him. And it wouldn't have happened if he had given up trying 

One day, a fox was walking through the tasty grapes hanging from a branch (树枝) high above him. He was quite hungry. 

 First, the fox tried to jump in the air and reach the grapes. But with each jump, he was just inches(英寸) away from getting the grapes. As he jumped and jumped, he was getting farther and farther away from the grapes. After a short rest, he tried taking a few steps back and doing a running jump at the grapes— but again, he could not reach them. 

 He even tried to climb the tree to reach the grapes, but his paws weren ' t strong enough for him to pull himself up the tree. How he wished he had the same paws as a monkey ! He sat and looked at the grapes angrily. 

 Just then, a bear happened to walk by the fox. He saw the fox look ing at the grapes. The fox turned to him and said, " Never mind. Those grapes probably don 't taste good anyway. " And with that, he turned once more and left. 

 The bear reached up, got the grapes and ate them. They were, of course, quite delicious. " Why not ask me for help?" the bear thought. 

Before going back to work one afternoon, Policeman Li took a big bite out of the red apple on his desk. He had no time to eat his lunch that day. He was busy dealing with a traffic accident report. 

It seemed that a man named Wang Jie had run a red light, running into another person's car. But he said that the light had been green when he drove across the crossing.
