Dick is a middle school student. He hasn't got a good life style. He always goes to school w{#blank#}1{#/blank#} breakfast or if he is hungry, he usually has some fast food. His mum asks him to eat h{#blank#}2{#/blank#} food, but he never listens to her. For his twelfth birthday, his father bought him a computer as a present. S{#blank#}3{#/blank#} then, he hasn't done much exercise. He spends much of his free time in front of the computer. "Dick, you shouldn't play computer games too much. It's h{#blank#}4{#/blank#} to your health," his father said to him. But Dick didn't pay attention to his father's words. One day, he had a h{#blank#}5{#/blank#} and his stomach a{#blank#}6{#/blank#} so much. He went to see the doctor. The doctor took his t{#blank#}7{#/blank#}, but he didn't have a f{#blank#}8{#/blank#}. When he told the doctor that he liked fast food and spent much time on computer games, the doctor knew his P{#blank#}9{#/blank#} and gave him some a{#blank#}10{#/blank#}: Stop eating fast food and spend more time outside.

The Spring festival is an important holiday in China. Most Chinese families celebrate it. 

It is always in January or February. It is often cold at this time of year, but people are happy. Family members get together and then have a big dinner. After dinner, people like to watch TV. There is a great Spring Festival on TV every year. Children have lots of fun on this day. We get presents. Usually our parents get new clothes ready for us, and we get red packets from our grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles. We like to let off fireworks at night. They are really wonderful. 

When I first started using Chinese websites I was a bit confused(疑惑的) by their design. Popular sites like Taobao and Jingdong are very "busy"—they are covered with dozens of links and flashing banners( 横幅广告). They often include a wide variety of bright colors as well, contrasting(形成对比) with the simple colors of most Western websites.

Why are Chinese sites designed this way? Some say that Chinese web design hasn't caught up with the standards of Western web design practices. But I don't think this quite explains_it. Some Chinese sites such as Baidu, are quite clean-looking. You may find the real reasons in the following.

A more convincing(令人信服的) theory has to do with the Chinese language. There are no capital letters or spaces in Chinese writing--foreigners who are used to seeing these things might think that Chinese text looks very crowded.

Another thing that makes Chinese websites look so busy is the large number of links. Some sites might have hundreds of links on their front page.

In addition, there is also a language-related explanation to the phenomenon(现象). It is difficult to type Chinese characters on a Roman alphabet-based keyboard. You have to type out each character using pinyin, which can be inconvenient. So it's easier to just click the link you want instead of typing what you're looking for. Or perhaps it could just be that sometimes people prefer flashy, busy websites. Browsing(浏览) Jingdong is like stepping into a noisy, brightly-lit street market. In this way, Chinese Internet users might feel right at home when using these sites.

I really missed my first Spring Festival with Caroline, my friend, in the UK. It was an {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(不平常的) festival for me. To {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(庆祝) the festival, I treated Caroline to a Chinese dinner that day. Caroline {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(悬挂) balloons and {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(灯笼) in the dining room. When I put the last dish,"the lion's head", on the table, she was {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(震惊的). She thought it was against the law to eat a lion's head. In fact, it's a pork meatball. My family always have it at the Spring Festival. The round {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(形状，外形) stands for family {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(团圆). Caroline cut a {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(片) and put it into her mouth. The {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(味道) of it was so delicious that Caroline ate a whole one. We joked and enjoyed the food. Our {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(笑声) filled the room. I felt like I was back home. 

Have you ever seen a bird fly into a building? Now, some students in Shenzhen are working to help the birds and learn more about this problem. 

In March, they made a team to study bird collisions(碰撞). "Every morning, we walk around buildings with big glass before 9:00 am. That is the high time for bird activities, " Feng Yongyin said. If they see a bird hit a building, they will take photos of the bird and the place around it. Then, they put the photos onto an app called Biotracks. Scientists can use them to do more research. 

The students'careful bird-watching also made the school think about moving the basketball court(场地). That's because it is a place with many plants and birds around. "Once we found a bird's nest(巢) on the ground and put it back. Then we set up a camera, " says 14-year-old Lan Zijia. Using the camera, they saw that many students might accidentally(意外地) throw their balls at the plants and go into the green ground to get their balls. It might hit the plants and birds'nests. "We told our school about this, and our school placed a line to protect the plants and birds, " Lan said. 

Since March, the team has done 416 bird-watching studies, found five bird collisions and saved one bird.
