    France is well known for its fine art, tasty food and romantic scenery（风景）. About 75 million visitors come here every year.

    France is the largest country in Western Europe. It has a population of over 66 million. The country is home to many famous places of interest, like the River Seine as well as the Eiffel Tower.

    Many visitors also come for the country's art. Sculptor（雕刻家）Auguste Rodin and painter Claude Monetonce created their great works here. If you visit France today, it is not asurprise to meet street artists in the city or come across a singer in the subway.

    Novisit to Paris is complete without a trip to Louvre, one of the largest andmost famous museums in the world. Inside, there are 35,000 works of art, such as the painting Mona Lisa by Da Vinciand the statue（雕塑）David by Michelangelo. It would take nine months to enjoy all the pieces.

    Besides, French food is world famous. Breadis very important in France. The best known French bread is called a baguette（法棍面包）. They are long, delicious and tastesalty. Snails （蜗牛）arealso a must-have here. French people eat 40,000 tons of snails every year!

    But France is not always good. Paris, the city of light, may also show its darkside to visitors. Chinese visitors feel sorry about the crowded subway inParis.

    Teachers at American colleges and universities have many different teaching methods. Some teachers give homework and check homework every day, and students in their classes have to take many exams. Some teachers give only writing tasks. Some teachers always follow a course outline and usually use the textbook. Others send students to the library for tasks.

    The atmosphere(气氛) in some classrooms is very formal. Students call their teachers Professor (教授) Smith, Mrs. Jones and so on. Some teachers wear business clothes and give talks. Other classrooms have an informal (非正式的) atmosphere. Students and teachers discuss their ideas. Teachers dress informally, and students call them by their first names. American teachers are different in their teaching styles.

    At most American colleges and universities, libraries and learning centers can be used by students at any time. They can often use tape recorders, video machines and computers. They can buy books, notebooks and other things at campus stores. There are also services (服务) to students. They can get advice on their problems from their teachers. Colleges and universities usually offer facilities (设施) to students. Some schools have swimming pools and tennis courts. Most have fast food restaurants.

More public high schools in the US are getting students from abroad, especially from China. Stearn High Schools is one of them. Next autumn, the school hopes to haye{#blank#}1{#/blank#} 100 Chinese students. Why would they want more Chinese students? According to Ken Smith, the principle(校长) of Stearns, Chinese students want to go to America to {#blank#}2{#/blank#} a better chance of going into an American university. At the same time, because Chinese students are known for high test scores, the school can get a {#blank#}3{#/blank#} ranking(排名). Lei Huang, 16, from Shanghai, is studying in Camden Hills High school in Maine this year. "Schools in China demand(要求) long days in the classroom and long nights doing homework," he said, " Here, the teachers {#blank#}4{#/blank#} to students' creativity and interests."

Every year on 24 April, it's Space Day of China.  It's a day to celebrate the country's growth in space exploration.  The manned space missions (载人航天任务) are a big part of it.  {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

What problems do astronauts face?

In space, astronauts face many problems.  There is little gravity (重力) there, which affects their bodies. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} What's more, if something goes wrong during their mission all of a sudden, they have to work out how to fix it under huge pressure.  That's why astronauts have to be smart, strong, and ready for any challenge before they can go to space.

"To make sure that Chinese astronauts complete their missions and return to the Earth safely, over 200 kinds of training are set," said Huang Weifen, the chief designer of the project.  These include not only physical training but also some basic science training.  So before astronauts can go to space, they train like this for at least three and a half years. 

{#blank#}4{#/blank#} This helps them get ready for the weightless environment in space.  Huang explained that astronauts wear diving suits (潜水服) that weigh more than 100 kilograms and stay underwater for six hours at a time.  She said that it was quite hard.  For example, Nie Haisheng even lost 2 kilograms after one underwater training exercise.
