"Don't sleep in class, Jack!" shouted the teacher. "You are 1, sir," Jack stood up and said, "I'm thinking about the question now. I'm not 2."

    "I'm sorry," said the teacher. "Would you like 3 my question?" asked the teacher. "Certainly," said Jack. "What is it?" "Why does the moon sometimes look like a(n) 4 and sometimes look like a sickle(镰刀)?" asked the teacher. "Oh, this question is 5," said Jack. " 6 it is full, it looks like a plate. It 7 like a sickle when it is 8, just like my stomach." Jack's answer made the class 9. The teacher was unhappy.

    "Why do we have the sun in the 10 and don't have the sun at night?" "This question is easier than that one," said Jack. "When we work in the day, we need the sun. When we go to bed at night, we don't need the sun."

    Thanksgiving Day was near. The first grade teacher gave her class a fun 1 — to draw a picture of something for which they were thankful.

    Most of the class considered turkey and other traditional goodies of the season. These, the teacher thought, would be the 2 of most of her students' art. And they were. But in her class there was a different kind of boy, Douglas. He was always unhappy. When other children played together, he was likely to stand close by the teacher's side. The boy drew a hand in his picture. 3 else. Just an empty hand.

    Whose hand 4 it be? His abstract (抽象的) picture made classmates really 5. One child guessed it was the hand of the6, because they raise turkeys. Another suggested police officers, because the police 7 and care for people. Still others guessed it was the hand of God, for God feeds us. And so the discussion went — 8 the teacher almost forgot the young artist himself.

    When the children went on to other projects, she 9 at Douglas' desk, bent down, and asked him 10 hand it was. The little boy looked away and said in a low voice, "It's 11, teacher."

    The teacher recalled the times she had taken his hand and walked with him here or there, as she had the other students. How often had she said, "12 my hand, Douglas, we'll go outside." Or, "Let me 13 you how to hold your pencil." Or, "Let's do this together." Douglas was most thankful for his teacher's hand.

    Hearing the boy's words, tears ran down the teacher's face. She brushed aside a tear and went on with her work.

    The story speaks of 14 than thankfulness. It says something about teachers teaching and parents parenting and friends showing friendship. They might not always say 15, but they'll remember the hand that reaches out.

    It does not always come easy to discover oneself. From a young age, I had already got a strong sense of who I would like to become. 1 an accident made me redefine(重审) myself.

    To me, skating was the most important. There was 2 in this world that filled my heart with such joy. I spent twenty-four hours a week practising my 3 . Having no social life or interests but skating, my devotion(挚爱) brought me first place medals in nearly every  4 .

    Unfortunately, in one show, I fell down and hurt myself 5 . After several X-rays and MRI(磁共振) scans, the 6 told me that I couldn't return to my sport any more. The pain in my back was so hard to stand that even the 7 daily tasks became difficult.

    As my passion(激情) was 8 , I had little sense of who I was to become. However, after eight months of suffering, something had to 9. Instead of wasting my days sitting around painfully, I began to put my 10 into local public service projects. By volunteering  11 a swimming teacher and summer reading teacher for kids, I got an idea of who I 12 to become. After a few months, I put all my heart into developing my interest in the arts. Little by little, I 13 out of the shadow(阴影) and rebuilt my confidence.

    Sometimes, some 14 rocks get in our way. We can choose to stay behind or try to climb over. My accident was a rock that 15 to stop me from reaching success. Today I'm a very confident and positive person.

Since the beginning of this term, primary and junior high schools in Shenzhen have carried out a new measure(措施) to make sure that students have daily PE classes. Shenzhen is the first city in the country to require schools to provide daily PE classes for students at the compulsory(义务的) education level.

Buxin Primary School in Luohu District uses a"3+1+1" model, which includes three regular PE classes, one music- based exercise class, and one sports game class. As a result of the new measure, the number of PE classes at the school has risen to 200.

The number of PE teachers isn't enough for all the new classes, so the school has to ask teachers of other subject s to give some of the PE classes. Liu Xunhua, a Chinese teacher at the school, has taken on the role of a part- time PE teacher." Everything is for the students' health, and we support the new measure," Liu said.

Yuan Yinuo, a sixth grader from the school, believes sports activities help reduce stress,   especially considering the pressure graduating students are under. However, some parents are concerned about the reduced learning time of other subjects though they agree on the importance of daily PE classes.A physics teacher who has been working in Shenzhen for over 20 years has the same worry. He made a comment online," Adding daily PE classes is a good thing, but it's hard for me to complete normal teaching tasks because some of my classes have been replaced by PE classes."

In a reply, the city's education authority (官 方 ; 当 局) said schools can independently decide the number of weekly class hours and the time of each class for each subject, and that schools can also reasonably arrange(安排) the courses of each subject.

 What does a day look like for a high school student in the United States? Well,I can tell you about my day in high school.

 Our schoolday goes from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Sometimes I have cheerleading(啦啦队活动) practice or play practice at 6:30 am. If I have time,I eat breakfast at the school dining room.

 Then I go towards my locker(锁柜) and take my books for the first period. Each class goes for about 50 minutes and we have 10 minutes to get to the next class. We study many things, such as science, maths, French and PE.

I play the piano in a band, so one of my class periods is used for that. Lunchtime is usually at 12:30 pm, and then we have some time to hang out outside or by our lockers. At the end of the day there is a seminar (研讨会) period. It is used for studying or meetings.

 After school, I cheer at a basketball game, or have speech practice. My family always try to have dinner at around 7:00 pm, but there isn't always time. I finally start doing homework at around 8:00 pm or 9:00 pm.

 So there you have it! That's my day in high school.
