It seems that school children all over the world complain (抱怨) about their school food. What do students of your age eat for lunch at school in other countries?

    Japan

High schools have dining rooms. They serve everything from noodles to rice, but not burgers or chips. Other children bring food from home, such as cold rice balls, meat or fish, pickles(泡菜)and vegetables. Twice a year parents are invited to have a taste of the food.

    The United States

A typical menu from an American school is made up of a hamburger with fried potatoes or roast chicken, lettuce and pickles, fruit and cookies. School lunches must also provide at least one third of the daily amount(总量)of necessary nutrition(营养), such as vitamin A, vitamin C and calcium (钙).

    Australia

Meat pies , sausage rolls (香肠卷) and hot dogs are all traditional dishes in Australian school shops. But as the country pays more attention to children's health, healthier foods have started to appear on school menus. Many schools have used a traffic light system. The sale of red labeled (标注)foods, including cookies, chocolate and soft drinks, is served only twice a week. Healthier green labeled foods such as sushi, sandwiches, corn and watermelons, however, are available every day.

    South Africa

Most of South African schools do not serve meals at all. Classes end at 1:30 p. m. and students get their own lunches. Many students bring food from home, usually sandwiches.

Fast food and fried food sell the best among students. As a result, it has caused a rise in obesity (肥胖)among children. But as more people begin to realize that being too fat may cause different kinds of serious illnesses, some schools in towns have led the way towards better nutrition. Now students at these schools are offered lunches of porridge with vegetables, such as cabbage, onions, beans, carrots and tomatoes.

①Did you hear of China's Tiangong space station? How much do you know about the lives of astronauts working in the space station? Come along and find out!

②For astronauts in space, exercise is important. The environment is very different in space. Doing sports helps astronauts stay healthy. How do they exercise? There is a spin bike (健身车), a treadmill(跑步机), and other fitness equipment(设备) in the space station. The equipment makes it easy for astronauts to work out.

③Astronauts live in a weightless environment, so they can't take showers like we do on the earth. Is there a bathroom in the space station? How do they keep themselves clean? Don't worry! Tiangong has a special bathroom. Astronauts can wipe themselves clean with a wet towel (毛巾).

④What do astronauts eat in the space station? There is bread and porridge for breakfast. There are also traditional Chinese dishes, like Kung Pao Chicken, fried rice and fried noodles with sliced pork. There is a special" fridge" to store the food. It's made of" aerogel(气凝胶)". The food stays cool in it.

⑤What if astronauts miss their families? There is special communication equipment in the space station. Astronauts can have personal" sky- to- earth" calls with their families. Usually, the astronauts wear earphones. It not only helps them talk with each other, but also allows them to talk to the ground from any position(位置) .

⑥What do you think of the lives of the astronauts?

 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D 四个选项中选出最佳选项。

My name is Henry Adams. When I was 27, I worked in New York. One Saturday afternoon, I sailed my small boat, but a strong wind pushed me into the Pacific Ocean. Luckily, a British ship going to London saved me.

I had only one dollar when I got to London. I was tired and hungry. Then, a man from a nearby house called me inside. I went into a nice room where two old men were talking. The two men were brothers. They had been arguing (争吵) for days about something strange. One brother said, "If an honest and smart stranger comes to London with no friends or money, with only a £1,000,000 bank note, he will die from hunger. If he tries to change this big note at the bank, the police will think he stole it and arrest (逮捕) him." The other brother disagreed.

The two men decided to solve their argument with a bet. They chose me because I looked honest and clever. Also, I was new to England. One of them gave me an envelope (信封) and told me not to open it until I was in my hotel room.

After leaving the house, I opened the envelope and saw money inside! I rushed to the nearest restaurant. After eating, I tried to pay with the money but found out it was a one million pound note! It made my head swim. No one could cash (兑现金) it. The restaurant owner said, "You can pay whenever you want, sir. I know you are a rich gentleman playing jokes by dressing like a poor man."

I quickly went back to the house but was told they had left for a trip. Then I remembered the letter in the envelope. It said, "In this envelope, you will find some money. It is yours for only 30 days. At the end of that time, return to this house. We have a bet on you." How strange! Then, I went to a clothes shop to buy a cheap suit. When I showed the shop owner the bank note, he got angry because the salesman (销售员) sold me such a bad suit.
