Do you want a job in the holidays? Just go for it. First, you need to know what kind of job is suitable for your age and interest.

If you're 13 to 15

It seems that you can't work almost anywhere, but you're probably allowed to clean your neighbors' cars or walk their dogs. There is no lowest wage (工资）for children under 16. By law, you can't work more than 35 hours each week during school holidays. And you can't work before 7 am or after 7 pm.

If you're 16 to 17

The lowest wage for 16~17-year-old teenagers should be no less than seven dollars per hour. You can't work in a pub or bar, but you can work in many other places. By law, you can't work more than 40 hours each week.

What jobs are out there?

Obviously your choices are limited (限制) by the fact that you can only work during school holidays, but the following situations are fine.

At Christmas, most shops are short of hands, so you may find something to do there. In autumn, there's always fruit picking. It can be pretty hard work, but it pays really well.

If you're mad about football, you can choose to work in a sports shop or help out at a local football club. No matter how much you are paid, you are doing what you like.

①The Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao is a modern art museum that is seen as one of the most famous art museums in the world. It was designed(设计) by Frank Gehry known for his special architectural designs. 

②The government of Bilbao, a large Spanish city, paid for Gehry to design this museum. The government of Bilbao thought that Gehry's building would bring many visitors to Bilbao and can help the economy(经济) improve. It turns out that the government of Bilbao made a very good decision. When the Guggenheim Museum first opened, a celebration was held. Even Spain's Queen and King attended____this celebration. Right after Gehry's building was open to the public, the economy improved. 

③Why has this museum been such a popular place for tourists? One reason is that Gehry's building design is different. Before Gehry had designed the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, most art museums looked same. For example, many of these art museums had columns(柱) and were built out of stone. 

④The other reason is that Gehry's museum did not look like traditional art museums. Instead of building his museum with stone, he used titanium(钛). Inside of the museum, there are different art exhibitions. The main source(来源) of light for these exhibitions comes from a large window on the top of the museum. This window is called a skylight. It looks like a flower. Would you like to visit the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao?

Last Sunday evening, my parents went out for a walk with my sister. But I studied alone at home because I would have an English test. Suddenly. I saw bright light in my neighbor's kitchen. I thought he was cooking, so I went on studying. 

Soon, there was a terrible smell in the air and I thought something was wrong. I went out and saw fire coming out of my neighbor's kitchen. So I shouted "Fire, Fire!" But no one heard or came out. 

I ran quickly to my house to call 911, and then I rang my neighbor's doorbell, knocked at the door, but there was no response. I got into the house through the window and found my neighbor sleeping in his bedroom. I woke him up and we rushed out of the house together. 

We tried our best to pour water through the kitchen window, but the fire was too heavy. Luckuly, the firemen came and put out the fire quickly. When my parents came back, they found I was dirty and tired. After my neighbor told them the whole story, they were happy and said I was a brave boy. 

Do you feel comfortable when the cold winter comes? Many say they feel uncomfortable in very cold weather. But you should consider yourself lucky because you don't live in Siberia (西伯利亚). 

In many places in Siberia, the winter is always very long and it's very, very cold! It starts to snow in November and the snow won't leave until May. The temperature is usually about -25℃, but it's sometimes much colder than that. When it's —35℃, children can't go to school, but grown- ups (成人) still go to work! And in some areas, the temperature can drop(下降) to -70℃. In spring and summer it is often cloud y and it often rains a lot, and people don't often see the sun. 

You may think there is nothing but ice and snow in Siberia. In fact, many people live there and there are lots of forests. Many tall trees grow there. People living there wear a lot of warm clothes. All the houses have heating (供暖), so it's never cold inside. In winter, people close the windows to stop the wind from getting in, and they don't open them again before spring comes. 

Russ Miller,36, from Ohio, was first diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis(类风湿性关节炎) when he was just 26, making it progressively difficult for him to do everyday tasks.

"My hands are deformed(畸形的). I can't bend them like others. Recently my thumb has stopped working," said Miller in a letter to a company. "I can no longer use normal computer keyboards and it's hard for me to even hold a pen anymore."

 Russ' condition resulted in him living on the streets in Florid for 4 years, but in 2018, he started trying to turn his life around. "I was trying to get help and get myself out of my situation. I had a phone, but I struggled to type on keyboards. So I started looking for alternative smartphone keyboards that might enable me to type again. I found the keyboard app Typewise by accident."

 Russ thinks that Typewise smartphone keyboard enables him to get his life back by allowing him to communicate with people, and therefore get help, get an apartment and even get a job. "I am able to communicate a lot better than talking, because my voice is kind of monotone(单调的) so people don't understand me very well. And because I was able to start typing on my phone again, I was able to use social media to reach out to an organisation that helps people with disabilities." It's the hexagonal (六边形的) layout of the keyboard that Russ finds a whole lot easier. "I can move my fingers around and not mess up as often."

"Now I have a part-time job where I take care of dogs and cats on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I can't work full time, because of my physical issues but at least I have something to do and something to look forward to." Russ said.

The company making the smartphone app had been unaware that their unique keyboard design could help people with disabilities until they got Russ' letter.
