Raising chickens seems a difficult task for teenagers. Grace Goodpasture from Virginia, US, not only raises them but also tries to breed(喂养) the "perfect chicken". And she even won an award for her love of science.
Grace started breeding chickens in her third grade at Steward school. At first, she worked on some farms for her school project. But later the fourteen-year-old started to have some ideas of her own.
"Some have thicker eggshells(蛋壳), and they are hearty(健壮的) throughout the winter," said Grace.
Since then, the young science lover started to try to find the healthiest free-range(散养) chickens. And she ended up breeding a type that now bears her name.
The National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) gave the 2015 Angela Award to Grace Goodpasture. Her interests don't end with chickens and eggs. She is also into building robots and testing preservatives (防腐剂) in fast foods. In her words, she wants to go to Virginia Tech for poultry (家禽) sciences in the future.

When did you last say “I love you” to your father? If you can't remember, then you can get the chance this Father's Day on June 19.
Generally compared to(与—相比) a mother's gentle love, a father represents qualities such as independence(独立), confidence, courage and adventure(冒险).
Also, caring fathers help their children get along with others. Fathers can lead their children into their social circle(社交圈). They can al so teach them how to behave and control their feelings.
For example, Microsoft founder Bill Gates was quiet and didn't like to talk with others when he was a little kid. So his father often held family parties and let Bill play games with family members. “my ability of leading and cooperating(合作) became better through games.” Gates once said in an interview with US Fortune magazine.
US actor Will Smith said that his father taught him important lessons through small things. His father once planned to tear(拆) down a wall of their shop and rebuild it. But little Will thought it was impossible. After a year and a half, they did it. “You didn't try to build a wall. You are going to lay a brick every day. And soon you have a wall,” he said on TV show.
“One father is more than a hundred schoolmasters”, British poet George Herbert once said. Do you agree?

Please look at my family photo.
Those are my grandparents. These are my parents. My mother is Susan. She likes red. She likes apples for breakfast. And she often plays ping-pong. That is my brother. His name is Jack. He doesn't like red. He just likes white. He often has milk for breakfast and then plays soccer. Now this is me. My name is Tony. I like blue very much. My sweaters, my T-shirts, my pants, my shoes are all blue. For my breakfast, I like eggs. I don't like soccer. It's so boring. I just like tennis. It's so fun. This is my family. I love my family.

Britons are well known for drinking tea. The average (典型的) person in the UK drinks around 1.9 kg of tea every year. That's around 876 cups of tea. Tea is drunk by all levels of society. But tea does not grow in Britain. Most tea grows in India and China. So, how did it become an important part of British culture?
Tea arrived in London in the 1600s. At this time, British ships were exploring the world and came across the drink in China. It was not long before green tea could be bought from the market. However, it was only for the rich people.
At the beginning of the 1700s, the amount (数量) of tea arriving in Britain increased rapidly. Black tea arrived at this time. At first this tea served exactly as it was in China. They soon discovered that it mixed really well with a little milk and sugar, giving the drink a special British colour.
In the 1800s, tea was still a product enjoyed only by people with money. At this time, they began to have "afternoon tea". They drank tea with a snack around 4 pm to avoid feeling hungry between lunch and dinner. It is a still going today but has become less popular in recent times.
