Sixteen is a special age in the United States. There's often a special celebration for a girl's 16th birthday—a big party called Sweet-16. It is like a wedding reception(结婚晚宴) in the number of guests and gifts handed out.

    About a month before the party, the girl's family sends out invitations to the guests. They must buy a special present for the birthday girl and the girl guests find good dresses to wear. A sweet-16 present usually costs $40 to $60. This is about $20 more than the usual-cost of a birthday present.

    The party itself is not held at someone's house. The hostess rents(租赁) a reception hall for the event. Food, cake and a DJ are provided. Around 6'clock, guests arrive and meet the birthday girl. Then the girl and her father have a special father-daughter dance. After that, guests dance for about 30 to 45 minutes.

    Then there is the most important part of the Sweet-16 party, the candle-lighting ceremony.

    The sweet-16 hostess stands behind 16 unlit(未点燃的) candles and dedicates(献给) each candle to her friends, family, and anything that she feels is important to her. A lot of crying and hugging goes on at this time.

    Afterwards, people sit and eat. Most guests begin leaving around 11 o'clock.

    This school year, I have been to two Sweet-16s. I am one of the youngest students in my grade (My birthday is in December). I'll have to wait another year before I can have my own special Sweet-16 party. I can't wait for it!

That wasn't a sunny day, but we felt very happy because we went to the Shanghai Waterworks Museum.

First, we went to a grey building. When we entered it, we saw a map on the floor. We met each other happily. On the map there was the Yangtze River, the Huangpu River, and so on. Then, we saw a large fish bowl in the wall. But there were only five plastic(塑料的) fish. That means if we waste water, we will no longer see real fish.

Next, we went upstairs. There we saw a big blue poster. There was a water tap at the top of the poster and the earth was under the water tap(水龙头). It tells us we should save water. The No.3121 water supply station was found on the left side of the poster. An old man was writing on the blackboard. Two women were washing some clothes. At that time, there were stones in the water. The man was writing the number of the stones in the water.

After that, we went to the first floor. We took some photographs there.

We left the museum at eleven o' clock in the morning. Every one of us had I an interesting and meaningful experience that day.

Do you ever feel like there's not enough time in the day? That time is somehow racing away from you, and it is impossible to fit everything in. But then. you step outside into the countryside and suddenly everything seems slower, more relaxed, like time has somehow changed. It's not just you-recent research showed nature can control our sense of time.

Richardo Correia, the researcher at the University of Finland, found that being in nature may change how we experience time and perhaps, even give us the sense of time abundance(充裕). Correia compared people's experiences of time when they performed different types of tasks in cities and natural environments. It showed that people reported a sense of expanded time when they were in nature compared to when they were in cities. For example, a walk through the countryside felt longer than a city walk of the same distance.

It's not just our sense of time in the moment which appears to be changed by the natural world, and it's alsoour sense of the past and future. Earlier research shows that spending time in nature helps to move our focus from44the immediate(目前的) moment towards our future needs. So rather than focusing on the stress of the demands(需求)on our time, nature helps us to see the bigger picture. This can help us focus on what's important so that we meet our long-term goals. This is partly because spending time in nature appears to make us less impulsive(冲动的)，enabling us to think more about future benefits instead of wanting immediate ones.

Three years ago, I started working at the University(大学) of Leeds. Having moved to a new city, I had no friends, so I decided to look for things to do. After several days, I found that a community school was offering(提供) Chinese evening classes. Without much thought, I had a beginner class. 

I didn't think about moving to China. I just wanted to learn a new language. I could speak good English and Spanish. But I thought there might be a large difference between learning a language as a child and learning one as an adult(成年人). There was one lesson a week, each lasting 90 minutes. Mr Kong, the teacher, was energetic. For each class, he would teach us about hundreds of new words. I found it difficult at first. Luckily, after a few months, I got used to(习惯) this. The University of Leeds had many students from other countries. My new Chinese friends helped me go over everything I learned in class. And we often studied together and talked about how to learn better. 

I think Chinese grammar is easier than English grammar. But there are so many idioms(习语)! So I will work hard to solve any difficulty and I believe it'll be easy for me soon. 

Different people may have different hobbies. I think hobbies can help us relax and learn more things. I have four good friends. They all have their hobbies. 

James lived in a village. He felt unhappy all day.

One day, an old man came to James' village with many sheep. He knew a lot about the things in the world. James went to see him and said, "I'm not happy. I have all kinds of problems in my life and I don't know how to deal with them. Can you help me?"

The old man said, "I'll tell you. But first, can you help me do a small thing?" James agreed (同意). 

Then the old man asked James to take care of his sheep at night, making sure they all lay down and slept.

At midnight, the old man came and asked how things went. James said, "I tried hard but I couldn't get all the sheep to lie down together. Even if (即使) I got some to lie and sleep, others would stand and walk around. What should I do?"

"    ▲    ," the old man said. "And later, you will find the sheep will all lie down and sleep by themselves. Problems are just like the sheep. You can solve some, but there are always some you can't solve even if you try hard. Leave these difficult problems to time. At the right time, they will come to an end themselves."
