    Basketball players are usually very tall. Because they need to put the ball into the basket. Other sports players may be shorter than them.

    Short people often have better balance (平衡) than tall people, so they don't fall over very often. In some sports the players must have good balance, for example, table tennis, they don't need to have long legs to run fast! Some of the fast runners in the world are not very tall. Some people are tall and some are short. The tallest man in the world is 2.41 meters tall. Today young people in many countries grow taller than their parents. This is because they eat better than their parents. Good food can help children grow.

    Running away is a serious problem. There are lots of runaway and homeless kids living in the streets around the world.

    Some kids run away because they're afraid to tell their parents the bad things that they did at school or in society.

    Some kids run away because there is violence(暴力)in the family.

    Some kids run away because their parents' divorce(离婚) or marry again.

    Some kids run away because they have problems at school.

    What will you do if your friend wants to run away from home?

    If your friend is thinking about running away, tell him or her that it is difficult to survive (幸存) in the streets. Try to help your friend fee less alone.

    Whatever the problem is there are other ways to solve it .Maybe you can't think of the ways right now. but an adult (成年人) will know how to help you. You should tell an adult that your friend plans to run away as soon as possible. Being a real friend doesn't mean keeping a secret that may hurt someone. And running away isn't a solution for either of you. It only makes more problems and danger.

    It is necessary to learn how to communicate with people from other cultures to build good relationships with them. Here are some rules.

    {#blank#}1{#/blank#} A little knowledge can be helpful. Before meeting with someone from another culture, try to take time to learn the basic "dos and don'ts" of that culture.

    {#blank#}2{#/blank#}Each culture has its own values, beliefs and prejudices (成见). You shouldn't judge people based on these differences. Instead, respect them for what they are. You may even learn something new.

    {#blank#}3{#/blank#}Don't shout at others. Raising your voice doesn't make you easier to understand. Communication difficulties lie in cultural differences, not because of intelligence (智力).

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#}Some cultures may expect more physical contact between people. For example, some cultures may shake or touch hands more readily than others. So don't take it as impolite.

    {#blank#}5{#/blank#}Communicating with people from other cultures can be enlightening (使人领悟的) and useful, but also have its difficulties. Expect that not everything will come out quite right or be fully understood. Be patient with others, and ask them to be patient with you.
