There are many different ways to solve a problem. One way is to be creative. People often think creative thinking is just for artists and designers, but that is not true. Dr. Edward de Bono, an expert in creative thinking and problem solving, has shown the world that using creativity to solve problems is very useful in business and in our communities, and will continue to be so in the future.

One example of creative thinking is the solution (解决办法) to a parking problem in a town center. In the areas close to stores, people can only park for 20minutes. There are parking meters where people pay to park in these areas. However, the problem is that many people leave their cars there for longer than 20 minutes. Dr. Edward de Bono's solution is to make a rule that all cars parked in these areas must keep their headlights on. Of course, drivers will want to return to their cars before their car batteries(蓄电池) die.

According to Dr. Edward de Bono, people will need to use creative thinking more often in the future. To help people think more creatively, he designed the"Six Thinking Hats"system. The system helps people think about a problem in different ways in order to find a solution. In the system, there are six imaginary hats of different colors. Each hat represents (代 表) a different way of thinking. For example, the white hat helps people consider the facts. The black hat is the most logical(有逻辑的) and helps people consider why a possible solution may not work. So, next time you have a problem in your community, you can think about it creatively from different perspectives, and see what best ideas you can get. And that's all for today's program.

Stanford is a world-famous university on the west coast of the US. It was built by Stanford and his wife in memory of their only son who died of a strange disease.

Tourists are often surprised at the beauty of Stanford. Among the green trees, buildings with yellow walls and red tops make up a beautiful picture.

Many tourists wonder why yellow and red were chosen. That's because they were the favorites of Mrs. Stanford.

The Big Church is the most important building in Stanford. It stands at the center. It was built by Mrs. Stanford to remember her husband who devoted(贡献 ) himself to the university. There, students and teachers can hold great activities, such as concerts and celebrations.

The tallest building in Stanford is Hoover Tower, which is the landmark of the university. A man named Hoover had done a lot for the university. The things he once used can be seen on the first floor. On the top of the tower,tourists can have a good look at the whole campus(校园).

As one of the world top universities, Stanford has many subjects that stand among the top ones in the world. And computer science has been the first for many years. If you want to study computer science in a university abroad,maybe it is your best choice.

Hello everyone! Welcome to Class 1, Grade 7! I'm your English teacher Miss Li.  I come from Guangzhou.  I have taught English for ten years and I'm forty years old now.  You are new here.  Now let me tell you something about our school day. 

The school gate opens at 7:20 in the morning.  You can take school buses to school.  You can ask your parents to drive you to school, too.  If your home is close to our school, you can also walk or ride a bike to school every day. 

Your morning classes start at 8:00 and end at 11:45.  There are four lessons for you and you have a fifteen-minute break after two lessons.  In the morning, you usually study Chinese, Maths, History and English. 

At lunchtime, you can have lunch in the school cafeteria. There are vegetables, meat, and fruits that are good for your health.  The lessons in the afternoon begin at 2:30.  There are only two lessons and they are usually P. E. , Music or Art.  They are fun.  You can have a good time.  After school, you have outdoor activities. You can play basketball with your classmates or read in the school library.  You must keep quiet in the school library.  Then you can go home and do your homework. 

So, what other things do you want to know?

I often hear some students say English is difficult and gives them a headache. So they can't learn it well. But English is very easy for me. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} I'm very glad to tell you something about how I study English. 

{#blank#}2{#/blank#} When I was in Grade Three, we had a new subject— English. It was new to me. I was interested in it, so I worked hard at it. Soon we had an English exam and I got a very good mark. How happy I was!{#blank#}3{#/blank#} Our English teacher often teaches us English songs, and the songs sound nice. I often think how interesting English is!

Second, as English is a foreign language, I learn it well in the following ways:{#blank#}4{#/blank#}Then practise again and again, and never be tired.{#blank#}5{#/blank#} Whenever I have a question, I must make it clear by asking our English teacher. How happy I am when I understand it!

Happiness Around Me

Many people do not read the classics. Their reasons begin with the language being too difficult and end with the storyline being too far from our present life. Love for great books is not at first sight. It might take you some time to do it. We begin as strangers and become close friends at last. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

Research, research, research. Before you turn to page one, do some digging. Researching the background can help you read difficult passages. The writer's experience, opinions, and historical background might help you make the connections you might not have. 

{#blank#}2{#/blank#}The order of the story and the plot(情节) are important in the same way.Make sure that as you read, you make a quick note of what happens in each part. This will help you bring the things you have noticed about the character, setting(场景), language and so on together. It's also a great help for you to retell the story.

{#blank#}3{#/blank#}Great books are written by famous writers, many of whom are known for their excellent writing skills. Some of them use language in a special way to make stories work.

Remember: there is no right answer. There is no perfect way to read a classic text. Your goal as a reader is to find out what subjects and ideas are meaningful to you. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}Consider what you like, read with a purpose, and think independently. Even if your understanding of the work isn't quite perfect, it is still worthy!
